the hunters just change every cats personality depending on what they need/want them to be depending on the current plot. raise your hand if you remember when Mothwing was a little bit sassy (only due to her insecurities as a medicine cat and also not being fully clanborn) but also easygoing, helpful, and all around a great cat, still my favorite character in the entire series.
This. They never focus on world building and they never work on actual character building..they know these cats worse than the fans which is crazy as they're the writers and SHOULD know the cats personalities and such. They just write whatever in for plot convivence including changing whole personalities to fit the plot, they don't care about consistency nor about making anything make sense in an over arching story.

Okay, in all seriousness, Shadowsight is my CHILD and everyone seems to hate him and He doesn't deserve ANY of it and he didn't mean to get Bramblestar possessed cuz he thought he was doing the right thing and honestly this series is turning me against almost every living cat left. (Squilf, Dovewing, Rootspring, Ivypool, Bristlefrost, and of course Shadowboi are the only ones I still like smh)

Personally i don't really think that should be a good reason to like a character. I can suddenly make a character who is mistreated and etc. But that should really make people like that character because they are mistreated but of course do what you want there is no stopping you

Basically mistystar banned mothwing and two warriors from riverclan because they fought against their own clanmates (keep in mind cats from all the clans did this, except shadowclan and skyclan who fought as one, but those cats were forgiven and allowed to come back to the clans because they were fighting for what they thought was right and the rebels *were* right.) The riverclan cats joined shadowclan and in darkness within mothwing becomes kind of a jerk. She messed with shadowsight’s herbstore and the thing that frustrated me the most is when mothwing told shadowsight to fetch dock leaves for a patient, then when he came back (a little later than usual but not too long because mothwing messed up the herbs) she had already wrapped the patient’s paw in cobweb and basically said to shadowsight “what took you so long lmao. Why would you even use a poultice on the wound with how deep the cut is smh my head.” According to shadowsight’s pov the cut was very shallow and not bleeding much. She just kept undermining him and eventually it was revealed that puddleshine, tigerstar, and mothwing were talking behind his backs about how he’s not fit to be a medicine cat. Eventually, mothwing, tigerstar, puddleshine, and shadowsight talk and they decide to make shadowsight a medicine cat apprentice again “for more training” because he’s a young medicine cat (which I grudgingly admit is a valid point.) But then puddleshine never tried to give him more training according to shadowsight so idfk. I get that mothwing was looking out for the wellbeing of her clan but she was such a jerk about it and most of it was unnecessary
I especially got frustrated when she was searching the herbstore for mildew, like, you’re in the DANG SHADOWCLAN camp
Shadowsight really got the short end of the stick in this book lol.

Both of them were stubborn and Mothwing was a guest in another Clan's camp. It's not her fault ShadowClan didn't trust Shadowsight to do his job but she was kind of an asshole to bring it up with Tigerheartstar and suggest he demotes his son even though he's a perfectly capable medicine cat
