majestic2253 lol glad everyone tolerates the dogs . It’s one of my new favorite whiskeys . You won’t be disappointed i promise. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃
I just picked up a bottle to try out since I’ve had gone for the regular jameson and the jameson stout edition which is great tasting I’m hoping the black barrel will win me over
I really enjoy Black Barrel. It has several unique things going for it. For starters, it is comprised of a ratio of 75% single pot still whiskey to 25% grain whiskey (standard Jameson is the complete opposite). A portion of the new make spirit is aged in refill bourbon barrels, while the rest is aged in ex-oloroso sherry butts. When the time is right they are married together into heavily re-charred ex-bourbon barrels for additional maturation. The result is a wonderfully mellow Irish whiskey with a buttery creamy mouthfeel and a familiar sweet bourbon crossover appeal. Although not as complex as a Redbreast or Spot whiskey, this hybrid still makes for a wonderful daily sipper that should be appreciated by both fans of American and Irish whiskies.
Thank you for finally saying banana. Bandana bread on the nose with maybe some vanilla. And ripe banana in brown sugar with melting butter in a pan on the palate. No oak at all unless little vanilla from the wood. So strange no other review saying banana...
Thanks for watching and your kind comments Dave. I am a huge fan of the Black Barrel. It has to be one of my favorites at this moment in time. I for sure will always have it in the bar. Cheers 🥃
I found Black Barrell at a whiskey tasting event last year and have been sold on it ever since. Was waiting for you both to get the 🍌 banana taste...that's exactly what I got the first time... banana with hint of caramel for me.
Jamie Haynes this has become one of my favorite Irish Whiskeys. My bottle I bought after the review is almost gone. But I’ll for sure have another to replace it. Thanks for watching ! Cheers🥃
Engin Agan I will definitely have to try that. Does it stand up well against the bitters? I would not have thought of an Irish with an old fashioned because they are such a soft whiskey. Thanks for the tip. And thanks for subscribing!!! Welcome to the family! Cheers 🥃
@@DurbinsBourbon I would say Jameson BB has a bourbonish character and woody flavor. Our local bartender in Turkey made me an old fashioned with J BB. I would never think about it otherwise. Cheers🥃
Haven't tried the Black Barrel but I love the Caskmates and the standard Jameson offering. I'm also a Budweiser drinker so maybe that explains it? Haha.
It’s a different flavor than the cask mates . Which I didn’t really enjoy but that’s my palette. This has some nice bourbon notes blended well with the soft Irish character. It’s a fantastic dram of whiskey . I highly recommend it . Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers 🥃
Rons Woodturning shop lol that made me laugh out loud😂 this is such a great whiskey. I will always have it in my bar from now on. I really really like it. Let me know what you think of it when you get it. Enjoy! Cheers 🥃
First reviewer I've come across that didn't enjoy Caskmates, the stout edition. Obviously taste is subjective. At cheap price points it's really hard to beat Jameson original in the Irish whiskeys.
I just look at this whiskey the other day at the liquor store. I passed on it. Now I thinking I should have picked it up. I'm drinking Brown - Forman 1910 while watching. Cheers!
Jeff Durbin love the 1910. Pick up the Black Barrel I’m sure you’ll be glad you did. I will always have it in my bar from now going forward. It’s so damn good. Thanks for watching. Sorry this video came out so late I have Military going on and it’s a bit crazy lately. Cheers 🥃
Your taste notes are rite on point. There is deff bananas in that. Its so good really good. I love tryin new things . i have turned into a bourbon wiskey snob!!! Give me more to try
Might I recommend a great book to you. “Tasting Whiskey “ by Lew Bryson under $20 bucks on Amazon. But I must warn you. It will send you down a rabbit hole of whiskey exploration. Lol thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃
I got another bottle tonight.. Going to do a shootout with this one and regular Jameson. When I had it last I didn't remember a banana taste. I'll look for it on the pallet tonight 👍🏻
I find this bottle just adds a little oak on the regular Jameson, clean, sweet spirit. I like it, but it is often priced too high for what it delivers. Thanks for sharing.
Gosh that’s a tough one! If it’s between the Makers 101 and the Jameson I’d take the 101. It’s better than the standard Makers. The most recent video we put out last Saturday was on that one. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃
You hit the nail on the head with the banana! Awesome review. I enjoyed the process of you figuring out the descriptors.
Loved the review I might add it to my shelf next trip to the liquor store.
No dogs until the end. I thought I was going to be disappointed.

I couldn’t agree more with those comments. Great description too. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃

I agree guys, good stuff. I am now a Jameson fan.
Steve Webb nice ! Me too . I had a healthy poor of it last night . Cheers bro ! 🥃
Jameson Black is my go to Irish Whiskey. Excellent for the price, and I think a great Irish Whiskey for Bourbon drinkers to try.
Love Black Barrel! Probably getting the banana from recharred Jack D barrels. I always get strong banana flavors when I drink Jack. Cheers!
Available at our local Sam’s Club for $31.99. Great bargain - I always have one on hand! Keep up the good work. Cheers!

I tried this, once, and I really liked it.
I’d recommend it ! It worth having in you bar for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting! Now go get some and enjoy it ! cheers 🥃

I love my old fashioned with Black Barrel. Great fit.

@@DurbinsBourbon well go easy with the Bitters. 2 or max 3 splash does the job well. Try to add Maraschino Cherry in and stir up well after. Enjoy!

Enjoyed it guys. Now I am freaking craving a banana nut bread. Might mask up and hit the 'seniors' time slot at the grocery store in the morning

I prefer Bushmills classic to Jameson actually
Wow this is right on with my opinion except I do enjoy regular Jameson and absolutely love the Black Barrel but don't care for any of the cast mates

There are two versions of Caskmates: IPA and Stout. The IPA edition I didnt enjoy as much. The stout I thoroughly enjoyed. Which one did you guys try?
mosey I think it was the IPA . I just remember it tasted like whiskey with a stale beer aftertastes. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃

All i get is sweet tarts with this one. I like the stout edition better.
Is it good with coke/Diet Coke?
However you like it lol
Brannan bread with vanilla.
I just bought this for $26 in Ohio
Brian Morris DMD I hope you like it as much as we do! I’m on my second bottle! It’s such a great sipper. Thanks for watching ! Cheers 🥃
