    Absolutely MARVELOUS ROV work! You're handling it like an old pro, to be sure. This is one of my absolute favorites from your ever-growing collection of mine exploration video presentations. Well done!

    Wow, just wow! Very good to see the water wheel, the ROV picked up the wagon, but not a lot more artefacts, which was a pity. What or how does the halo effect happen? Good viewing again chaps!

    Greetings from Minnesota. Enjoying your videos. My family worked in the mines of Mid Wales for 3 generations in the early 1800's. They lived in Penbontrhydybeddau.

  • @aserta
    @aserta Před 2 měsíci +2

    I'm going to bet on this: 1. they left one day and the level was flooded 2. there's loads of stuff down there stuck under the silt that we don't see. The level's basically untouched, pristine from the day they left. You can see all the items, undefined, you rarely see that much without it being a completely sealed mine that's never been touched.

    I have been in this mine so many times, got some awesome photos of the wheel, and have always thought that a submersable would be a great idea to send down the sump. Great work guys.

    Being able to explore underwater in the mines is fantastic. I could easily watch an additional hour and not realize it.
    When you guys are saying halocline, are referring to there being saltwater or is it more of an apt description of what
    your are seeing? Great vid thumbs up!

    • @LoisTansey
      @LoisTansey Před 2 měsíci +3

      I think we might be using the term halocline incorrectly, as there is no presence of salt water, but the effect is very similar. We are not entirely sure what is causing the apparent ‘layers’ in the water, but it goes from crystal clear in the top layer, to very clouded and full of small debris and particles in the lower layer. We would love to know what creates this phenomenon and if anyone knows the correct term we would like to find out!

    • @Tipper709
      @Tipper709 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@LoisTansey Thanks for the reply. An apt description of what is being seen to be sure. I'm really curious about what is causing it too. It's so very cool to see the discoveries you guys get to find.

    as again that is a thermocline not a halocline, caused by temperatures and not salinity, good explore though

    • @LoisTansey
      @LoisTansey Před 2 měsíci +2

      Thank you for letting us know. We were unsure as to the correct terminology, only that the closest we have seen is halocline in salt water. but we are still a little unsure as to what causes the particles of debris to be suspended in such a distinct band of separation. If you can let us know any more we would be fascinated to find out!

    It would be good to know where you are in the introduction. I would love to see any mine explorations in the Shropshire hills. They have been mined since Roman times and even before Roman times. Two roman lead ingots were found in Snailbeach, an area further up the hills called the Bog was the main area of activity.

  • @mikaelabowen5781

    Superb - as always! Please excuse my ignorance, but what causes the apparent water-surface that appears down there? I'm guessing it must be something to do with different densities of water, or the meeting of saltwater and freshwater?
    Seeing that wagon looming out of the gloom was very special.

    Why aren't you guys adjusting down the motor output? It sometimes really gives me anxiety to see you steer around 0-100 in these close rooms with so many possibilities to entangle with the cable 😅 also you probably will stirr up less debris and shit
    Besides that, really interesting videos! Would love to explore a cave system like that with my evo aswell 😛👌
