- Here's a patriotic station sign-off from KXAS Channel 5 out of Fort Worth-Dallas.
"Portions of today's programs were mechanically reproduced."
This aired on local Fort Worth / Dallas TV in 1979.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help! - Zábava

(Born and raised in Tyler Texas, that's how I know about KXAS, they were on my cable system).
A bit before my time but this was the NBC station I grew up with. Pretty cool to see it on here.
Same, I was there from 1984 to 2003.
That's up in mommy's alley, Fort Worth TX! My granny lives there too.😊
Featuring a station ID that is truly slipping and sliding!
Since 1998 KXAS has been an owned and operated NBC station - this was back when LIN Broadcasting owned it at the time.
Dallas local, I remember when they used to put this slate/video up before sign-off.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Yes, I remembered as a kid.
Because they are located in Fort Worth, KXAS & KTVT always said Fort Worth-Dallas in their IDs. WFAA & KDFW are located in Dallas so theirs said Dallas-Fort Worth.
In those days, stations had to get for a special waiver of the FCC rules to identify with two cities.
I was 19 and grew up in the area. Good memories.
The oldest television station in Texas and the Southwest signing on as WBAP-TV Channel 5 in 1948 - owned and operated by the Amon Carter family along with the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
I was living down there when this aired
Love it
Looks like someone is having trouble with the ID card.
I noticed that Dallas-Fort Worth's NBC station is playing the SSB in audio form, But however no video
Wow, just 5-6 years before I was living there. I think they had changed to the "Aim High America" film with the F-16 by then.
I think the only DFW stations that played "Aim High America" are KDFI and KDAF, not KXAS. Both KDFI and KDAF used "Aim High America" for many years.
KXAS later had customization with locally-produced SSB audio and visuals from the 1979 High Flight video, which I believe that probably lasted until the early-1990s. For a brief time before KXAS went 24/7 in 1993, KXAS last used the Salute The Flag SSB as its final film before it went 24/7.
Another copy of this sign off from a year prior to this recording has the same still ID slide during the anthem, but not the brief announcement that comes before it.
Returning to the air at 7am? Must have been a Saturday night/Sunday morning.
How need for the 4th of July!
Question, do you have an WCSH-TV Channel 6 Portland,Maine videos from the 1970's?
The NAB Seal of Good Practice is missing?
I was only 2 living in Irving.
Notice how our elected officials and our journalists all claim to love America, but we haven't done anything like this in years? We haven't "commemorated" America in some time?
There's little need for sign offs anymore since most networks are 24/7. But I do agree, at some point during every broadcast period, the anthem should be played. I'm not a fan of the anti American BS going on, we're not perfect but we've got it better than anybody else for the most part.
@@genefogarty5395 I don't just mean sign offs. For instance, we used to have special 4th of July TV presentations. Salute To America or whatever.
@@HereForTheComments We still do, they had the Macy's 4th of July celebration last night and here in Northern NY the local channel had a special. There should be more though, teach kids about Veteran's Day, Memorial day, VJ day, etc. History is definitely being erased.
lol @ the Trump subscription
It’s the poltergeist theme 👻 😂
