- Thanks for watching! I made a similar video on my old channel a while back and I felt like it needed updates so I decided to film this new version. I think there's something to be said for having a couple of really solid projects showcased in a clean and professional way. But that's just my take 😁

I´m starting my dev career and this is gold! Thank you so much!
Thanks man your portfolio advice actually got me a internship as a web dev.
Awesome advice. As someone who's on year three of their development journey and who has attended a BootCamp and now a master in CS program...I can't stress how solid this advice is!!
Glad you resonated! And glad this helped 😁

I’m just getting started in wed dev at my job and this really helped me not over complicate things. Thank you!!!!
Yo any update on your status?
Web development is fun and you can make good money but you should remember that there are a lot of developers in India willing to work for a fraction of the salary that you are pursuing. In fact, many large tech companies have laid off their developers in the USA and opened offices in India. You might want to look into other areas that require developers but are not so easily offshored.
Actually, not true. This was tried many years ago and failed; the language barrier and time zone barrier were too much hassle and caused many companies a lot of money. In fact, it was so much money that they went back to doing their native country only (speaking mainly for AU & US).
@@cakinfx595 - I’m speaking from experience. I was replaced with a couple developers in India.
Clean video. Straight to the point. New Subscriber here!
Nice video sir Dylan! Good to see like this one especially that ill be taking Web and Mobile App Developer program for Summer 2023 intake. More power to you. Gonna ask your assistance soon if you won't mind by the way.
I do like the tip on templates. I am ok at making stunning stuff but it takes me 4 months. Rather concentrate on getting stuff done. I prefer the backend and connecting it with a design I have already so I can edit the html so it can accept backend variables etc. I really don’t know how front end dudes can make crazy stuff like they do. That really is a talent like crazy
You tell thiings best. I mean you seriously tell it without any BS that other youtuber developers do, all that oily toungue and fast track promises. You tell the main thing that will get one through, the same thing that most of the youtubers try to cover in their foo faar baaz (ofcourse they cant hide it) for their views. Have seen your few videos and will see rest. Im fan 🙏
thank you so much for this video
This is so excellent
Thank you!
klay, new suscriber
I wish you could do a tutorial on the portfolio you built on react
Hey thank you for the advice. I’ve recently gotten into web development and have really been enjoying it but Im a student so I also have some projects written in Python, a chess game and Tetris clone. Do you think it’s worth including these on my resume?
Hey! Absolutely worth it to include those on your resume. Any relevant experience will help you.
Thank you
Self taught dev searching for a junior position here. I am finding it extremely difficult to get hired. Ive been studying web development mainly front end for over 3 years. Ive made multiple portfolios, my most recent one built on react js. Ive made a variety of projects and I cant even land any interviews.
What do you recommend to someone just starting out in learning how to do iOS development, but wanting to eventually become either a front-end engineer, or a full-stack engineer? I'm learning through Codecademy if that is helpful at all.
Thanks for this video. What did you use to learn react pls?
Do you the react doc on the react website. Their documentation is some of the best I've seen. If you can't understand the doc then follow a video tutorial on CZcams
Would a MERN stack project be something that would seem attractive in my portfolio?
It mostly depends on what jobs you're applying to. Do they need someone with experience in those technologies? Like I'd base it off of that. Know what I mean?
I have finished react js and now starting to build my project is the any advice for a person my mind becomes completely when it comes to doing project i have been similar situation for more than 3 years
Opinions on making a website that has multiple cartoons listed with synopsis’s and trailers each with their own page as a project for your portfolio?
New subscriber for your hard work
Can you please recommend or make a video where to apply for web developer job
Hi, one question do I have to make those projects live or just showing screenshots on portfolio is enough?
You need to make them live. No screenshots, you need a real website if you want people to think you are a real developer.
I have portfolio with projects, know html, css, sass, tailwind, javascript, typescript, react, python, c. Learning java and sql now. I spend last year looking for a job and never got an answer from any company. I'm so tired.
Hello,
Just a quick question (hope you'll answer)
What's your take on Blockchain Development is it a good career path to pursue ?
Hi, thanks for the question! My mentor has actually really tried to push me in the direction of Blockchain dev. From what I understand, it's the wild west. It might be risky, but you can get paid handsomely.
@@dylancole_314 and are there job opportunities/freelancing opportunities ? Btw thank for your valuable responses meant a lot
@@Odiabadsha That I don't know, to be honest. I'm sure there are though.
Can you please tell me how did you get job? Did they contacted you or you apply to their need? thnx
LinkedIn! They reached out. Always keep your LI updated 👍
You keep emphasizing on doing projects on what you're interested in
What if you're interested in food
How do you go about that
Can you talk about frameworks and other languages that we should learn to be more desirable
The frameworks/languages you learn should be based on what jobs you're applying to. So for example, if the majority of the jobs you're applying to are asking for React and Node experience then make sure you have experience with those!
@@dylancole_314 thank you I’m in the process of learning JavaScript and I’m gonna learn react after I get a good grasp of js. After that I’m not sure what direction I should go. I’ll take any advice you have to give. Much appreciated :)
How did you learn please? Kindly share your resources what videos to watch or course to take
Sure thing, here are courses I took that helped me out tremendously:

www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-javascript-course/

@@kaycampbell364 I have a video in the queue about this that will be out soon so stay tuned
@@dylancole_314 oh great! I can’t seem to grasp react any course recommendations please?
@@kaycampbell364 I never really took a React course. I just used random CZcams tutorials and read the documentation.
About the asteroid game, isn't it bad to have a project that's straight from a tutorial on your portfolio?
Then add some interesting features, man
Can I apply at your company? I'm a recent CSE graduate from UCSD
Just apply man
For every job at least 3 years of experience is required
254 subscribers? Wtf
I’m starting to think there’s no such thing as an entry level role unless you have a computer science degree from a respected university.
Why is that. I am just finishing twitter copy with react and firebase. About to do 4 more projects and apply. Talked to some people in industry all say its possible. What issues did you encounter
@@luka9340 1) I’ve successfully done some pretty decent sized jobs as a freelancer. A full stack app and some frontend only websites.but can be months between between jobs. 2) Hard to find places to apply to that are not scammed or outrageous requirements. Requirements that would send you’re resume to the bottom of the list even if you do apply. 3) no callbacks.
@@luka9340 And yeah I can build pretty advanced frontend sites that basically mimick the fancy web flow sites, and also add auth, backends, do crud, and all that as well. React, next, Astro, qwik and cms as well. I think the biggest obstacle too is only have an AA degree.
@@kimbapslayer1995do you have hosting for your websites? I want to see what you've built
@@luka9340what are you planning to build next?
@1:41 you realise bro forgets, html, css and JavaScript have been consistent since almost the beginning.
