Also where the hell did all of her other clothes go!? Does she shop everyday for a new outfit, and even so, someone is still giving her money to shop! And how is she forced to go to the thrift stores...ahhh why is my brain overthinking this??
I've been a student who has had my lunch taken away like this and it was so humiliating. I wasn't even free+reduced; my parents just didn't give me money for lunch and I was too young to make my own. I'm a teacher now and I truly struggle to understand WHY children have to pay for lunches. Just feed them! They need to eat to be able to focus in class. It's why I provide snacks in my classroom, and it's why I want to get even more food to provide
In the Netherlands kids always bring their own lunches soms schools have cafeterias but they are so insanely expensive and usually the food is pretty bad for you as well I never really understood school lunches in the Netherlands the average lunch would consist out of 1 or multiple sandwiches and a piece of fruit like a banana
Wait really?? I was just mentioning this. My school wouldn't do that (but you also like paid before leaving with the food and they just let you owe money for that time). I can't believe food gets taken from kids like that.
@@michaelazangeres In the USA, some kids bring lunch, but the school lunch is there for kids/families who cannot make food regularly. There is also the free + reduced lunch program to ensure students can get lunch if their family cannot afford food. However, a lot of schools give kids on f+r a worse lunch than the one that is fully paid for, or they can only get something like a PB+J/cheese sandwich. Education in the US is so underfunded; most teachers have to pay for their own supplies and cafeterias are often struck by this. However, no child should be allowed to go hungry because their parent can't afford to feed them regularly. Schools I've worked at try to combat the issue by providing take-home meals, but many schools do not do this. The infrastructure wrt caring for kids in the US is really broken.
As a kid my parents didn't work and I got lunches for free, I would get the exact same meal as any other kid (there was multiple options you'd pick from at the start of the day). I would even get free meals on school trips. I feel so lucky to have had that now, I had no idea some kids actually got less qualify meals just because they wasn't as fortunate as others. In high school I got £2.10 on my account daily to pay for meals which was plenty for like a sandwich and a drink or cookie (keep in mind there was water fountains so drinks weren't necessary to buy it was just for like fizzy drinks).
This was definitely a weird lesson, just because the rich girl isn't getting rides home & has to thrift shop does not mean her entire life suddenly changed and she is poor, she won't understand what the other girl was going through because the rich girl didn't even go through it
And there’s nothing shameful about going thrifting or riding public transport regardless of financial status. Like i own a car and can afford to buy new clothes and I still do both regularly because I want to. This vid does nothing to refute the argument that poor stuff = bad. Dhar man missing all nuance as per usual.
@@MrZestyOnion I mean it depends on the environment. If they lived in a private school area with super rich people who don't do those things, someone who does that would be the odd one out. That would make them prone to bullying
dude fighting back to bullies is terrifying, it's so much easier to say nothing and just leave, idk why people in chat are confused by her not saying anything
why did people in chat ask how jarvis was bullied he's literally spoken about most of that stuff before? i guess some of it was on sad boyz and people might watch jarvis but not sad boyz
fight invitations are the funniest things, people at school will be like "hey these two people are gonna fight at lunch on the court come watch" like why do you think i want to be involved in this im not friends with either of those people
TBH especially if you're bullied by girls. I fought back against the few boys that bullied me and they stopped. The girls could literally tell me to kill myself in front of the teachers and I got into trouble for saying "buzz off", like. I got mercilessly bullied by different groups of girls and I literally couldn't fight back without getting into trouble or making it worse.
@@vicwunder3062 In my experience girls were easier to stand (with one exception) they always just insulted me but would never physically hurt me so I could just spread gossip about them back once I found someone to talk to about this. Boys would just threaten me and my pets.
@@maybelater2160 I guess it differs from person to person. My boy bullies stopped after I hit them and they got laughed at for crying because of a girl (I'm nonbinary, but you get what I mean), the girls had all the teachers protecting them. As in, the teachers knew what was happening but didn't want to punish them for some reason.
Okay, two things. First off, I've known quite a few rich kids. No one with a private chef goes to public school. It's not a thing. If they live in a very remote area where there aren't any private schools, they go to boarding school. Second, Jarvis, if there's anything I've learned, it's that all the cool people got bullied in school. I was harassed for being Jewish, one of my friends was called the N word, another was bullied for being queer, the list goes on. We are all cool now. Our bullies are probably in MLMs and/or living off their parents' money. Also, I love your voice. It's very calming :-)
there's a kid in my lunch class who has a private chef and we go to public school LMAO and there is private schools near us as well also i'm so sorry you had to face all of that bullying
Uh they definitely do in certain areas lol. If everyone is wealthy in the area, there's not a reason *not* to since the school is CRAZY funded from the local property taxes (at least here in CA).
Ok one: why would those girls suddenly switch up on the rich girl, they know she still has money and is just being punished Two: why does Dhar seem to not know what empathy is?
15:58 she's the kind of girl who constantly is grossed out by people who shop at thrift stores while also being someone who shops at thrift stores for the "trendy fits" lol
To this day im still a little salty ab thrift stores being trendy now when i got bullied for buying thrifted clothes/getting hand me downs. Trying to let it go, but still,,,
@@captainsalamander946Fr. All the thrift stores are getting expensive now too and I can't afford clothes like I used to. I could buy like 4 shirts for 10 bucks but now I can only get like 2 I'm pretty sure the increase of prices is a mix of inflation and resellers and it pisses me off so much because that's literally how I got my clothes before school starts I'm lucky I'm not growing anymore and that I'm really small so I can share clothes with my little sibling but I know some people can't do that and it just upsets me so much
I like that her mom didn’t just make her eat the school lunch, she made her take the free lunch… taxing the already pressed funding of the school. And I guess the girl wasn’t allowed to NOT shop, she HAD to shop and it HAD to be at the Thrift Store. 😂
In the part of the shopping I was like “this girl must have a full on wardrobe of designer clothes, she literally doesn’t have to shop at the thrift store”
Well the schools are payed by the federal government for each free or reduced price lunch they serve. Completely different side note au my schools the free and reduced lunch was the same as the standard school lunch. In elementary and middle school though if you weren’t in the program and your parents just didn’t give you money you got a sandwich instead
@@dewberry150 My elementary school had free breakfast if you signed up for something, but always had snacks and lunch available for students. The lunch was just a sandwich, juice and an apple, the snacks were like little cheese & cracker things or yogurt tubes. Lifesaver for the times I forgot my lunch, and most definitely for the people that didn't have the resources to bring one (we don't have payed school lunch in elementary here, and we don't have middle school).
yeah like how is that the lesson?? sure, you never truly know what it's like unless you experience it yourself. but dhar mann is basically saying you have to pretend to be poor for a couple of weeks in order to emphasize with poor people.
I lived right in front of my school, and holy shit... it was extra awkward to just go home after school, ignoring the fight invitation and the whole fuzz it created. lol
yeah, i also remember stuff like that happening at my school and i most definitely do not live in the hood. i live in a relatively small town in germany lol
@@playermouni imagine a kid trying to be badass like “meet me out back after school to fight” but just being awkward as hell because the kid’s still sheepish and lowkey afraid to be too rude. It was also usually an “invite” to somewhere off school property or wherever so they didn’t get in trouble.
When you're a little girl, and you're the "biggest loser" in your class, it really does feel like the mean girls are just everywhere. You grow up and realize that there were really only one or two mean girls, the rest just never stood up against them and because of that, you felt like the whole grade was mean. It's a big reason why they push telling an adult when you get bullied so much now. It's so hard to stand up to bullies, even when you're not being bullied yourself, especially then really because you will do pretty much anything to make sure their attention doesn't get turned on you. You will often then turn in on yourself and push others away convinced that if you don't they'll find a way to bully you despite them not having even been friends with the few bullies there actually were in the entire grade. At least that's my adulting analysis of my particular situation, meshed with all those I've seen portrayed on video, spoken of on video or radio, or told me personally.
Wow, it's crazy how much I can relate to this. I was bullied a lot when I joined year 7, but now in year 10 (only 3 years on) when I interact with my classmates (who I recollect bullying me) I realise that most of them never directly intended to bully me, they just didn't interfere when I was being bullied. Thank you for sharing this, it really helped me to understand my situation better!
@@screamingbanshee1282 I never said it was. I only said that not everyone was actively being abusive. Some were passively abusive by not doing anything, but alhough not great, it's not as bad as being the one doing the harm. Some cases may feel as though it's as bad, and doing something is always better, but we can't expect kids to always jump in, especially not until we have a handle on the bully situation. Some bullying can lead to serious injury and sometimes death, so asking kids to put themselves in potential harm's way. So what I'm trying to say is that while standing up for people who are being victimized is always the best case scenario, we shouldn't expect, nor condemn kids for standing up for one another or not. The one thing I do think should be expected of kids, is report report report. This idea of a "tattle tale" is absolutely atrocious. It teaches kids not to go to an authority figure when there is danger. *ALWAYS* TELL SOMEONE IF SOMEONE IS HURTING SOMEONE ELSE! Period.
@@paranoiarpincess Teachers don't do anything and that's a big part of the issue. When I was being bullied and the teachers got involved they treated it like an *equal* fued and just made us sit in a room and apologize to EACHOTHER and then afterwards were like "yep solved that right up" and didn't acknowledge it afterwards, even though it very clearly continued. They made me apologize to the girl who literally got like half of our class against me for things I didn't do, "dared" people to call me slurs I doubt she even understood, made a boy pretend to be my friend and report back to her with any secrets I told her, threatened to OUT ME to my mother, and all I did to "deserve" this was ask her "why would I be jealous of you?". Like wtf.
I'm loving Dhar Mann bingo It really does hit you after watching so many of these that the lesson is never "respect people and treat them with dignity because they're people," but that you can only ever do that when you've personally experienced the same hardship. That it's a *punishment* to be poor. That's what he really thinks of people who are economically disadvantaged, who are doing "dirty" jobs like being a janitor. It's always "wow wouldn't it suck to be that person :( maybe you should appreciate what you have, audience, and keep giving me money." It's so completely void of any genuine sentiment or desire to do good. Toxic positivity as its best.
And never forget the “don’t stereotype POC bc they might be rich! “ but if they are poor or fall into some stereotype I guess you were right all along uups
its literally just a series of "doesnt it suck to be poor be happy you're not poor" OR "aren't you ashamed you used the wrong stereotype on this person" (poc being rich)
I feel like this is the one time I actually liked my school - they didn't take away lunches, they just charged you into the negative. Sure, you couldn't get snacks and stuff, but at least you had _food._ My older sister did have her lunch taken away when she was in school and. God it just makes me feel sick to think about that. Especially since I think she was in _middle school._ My school was lucky enough to get funded to give everyone free lunch for four years, but that's running out this year, so :/ Really wish they could put more money into the basic human right of _being fed at the place you legally have to go to._
damn i rlly hope a lot of ppl in the usa had that in the uk at least poor ppl often become free school meals which mean they get around £2.50 daily to spend on a meal at lunch and other things like school trips can be free or the money will be reduced (if money is required) like im free school meals and i have free singing and guitar lessons whereas other ppl pay £2.50 a week for each lesson
Same, I never got my food taken. They would just put you into negative numbers, and if you didn’t pay, they would withhold your grades or prevent you from participating in extracurriculars. Even though it’s not as bad as letting kids go hungry, it’s still fucked up. Imagine going into debt as a child so you don’t starve and so you can focus in class to eventually give yourself a better life. I have a lot of thoughts on this, but I’ll leave it there
My school did that too. If you’re charged into the negative you can’t get snacks, certain drinks, or a second main course I guess. But you still got food and milk. The milk was at most 2 weeks away from expiring, but if you need a lunch I don’t think you’ll be complaining about that.
where i went to school he first and second time you get charged in the negative and then they just didnt let you get lunch anymore (and youd usually get yelled at if you tried :/) luckily the city i live in made school lunch and breakfast free my last few of years of school so kids dont have to go through that anymore
my mom used to work as a lunch lady and the school told her she had to take lunches away from kids if they didn't have money (she worked mainly in ELEMENTARY school 😐) and she said well can't i just pay for it for them and they literally said no and then she quit because she wouldn't take kids lunches away and got in trouble for it.
Beyond it being awful to take food from a child in need, it's also such a waste of food? Like, they already put food on that tray for that little girl and then they just take it away. No other kid would be able to eat it, I don't think. They can't give it to another student. So they basically threw money away. I remember the square pizzas. There was a boy in middle school who'd rip off the cheese and small, square pepperonis and pour on ranch dressing(because we either got salads with the lunch or some type of raw veggies like carrots, green peppers, and celery), then put the cheese and pepperoni back on.
@@amandamills4410 Yeah, the food habits people have can be a bit odd. I'd never seen anyone rip the cheese/toppings off of their pizza to pour the ranch on and then put the cheese back on before this particular kid.
I was stoked on the square pizzas, and the days when they served us turkey nuggets with the mashed potatoes with the yellow gravy. Most of the other stuff was gross. My best friend in 6th grade, his mom was one of the lunch ladies, so every once in awhile we got hooked up with extra food. But she would also embarrass the fuck out of me.
@@GnarlyRaePepsi Oh, the square pizzas were everyone's favorite. Question, with turkey nuggets or chicken nuggets, were ya'll given honey? Because that was a dipping sauce they'd have for the nuggets(along with barbecue sauce, I believe). That's cool that you sometimes got extras. Sometimes, our lunch ladies would have extra things from breakfast like the individually wrapped honey buns or the little cups of juice that we could have at lunch.
"You'll never know what someone is going through unless you experience it yourself" is such a shitty lesson. It sounds like a rich person realizing poor people are humans too, like the rest of us just have empathy naturally...
I have a complaint. That was ABSOLUTELY unreasonably forgiving. You get bullied & bullied & bullied by the same person for the same dumb thing for months on end & then they experience hardship for one day & your'e like "all is forgiven"??? Nah screw that. There's no universe where that girl should've forgiven that bully.
I totally get what you’re saying, but as someone who has experienced a fair amount of bullying and other stuff with cruel people, I don’t think it’s completely unrealistic. One of my favorite quotes is “an eye for an eye and the world goes blind.” Showing compassion to those who don’t deserve it in any way, shape or form, can be incredibly satisfying. Also, I’m not trying to be virtue signal-y or anything, and I almost didn’t comment because of that, but this is just how I feel. I totally get what you’re saying though.
@@brutus3631 “be the bigger person” is always said to the victim like WE need to forgive Nah the bully can learn better, im not forgiving that bs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was bullied for being dark skin, scrawny, wearing thrifted clothes, and having a learning disability. I've had stuff thrown at me, had a kid try to drown me, punched, tackled, and verbal assaulted. Not once did any adult try to really help me. I spent a big chunk of my youth hating myself and being lonely. Thankful things got better at the tail end of high school.
@@playdoh658 Thank you, and I agree. I know that when I have a kid, if they ever experience any bullying, I'm putting boots to faces and uplifting my kid endlessly.
Adults underestimate how horrible kids can be. There was this one guy who would try to ram his elbow into my back or my side every single time he was near me. He also tried to smack what I was carrying out of my hands in the middle of a fucking hallway one time. He was so fucking blatant with it, and most of the teachers and other kids did nothing about it. Only two of my teachers did anything about him. My pe teacher called him out when he tried ramming his elbow into my back, and my art teacher moved his seat away from me when I told her that he was bullying me. She let me choose who I would sit with instead. Those two teachers were cool, the other teachers in classes he and I shared sucked. My homeroom teacher that year also sucked. She was the worst. Almost everyone who had hated her. I only know one person who didn’t hate her, and he’s the type of person who you have to really piss off to get them to hate you. She also retired the year after I had her, and I like to think that I’m the reason she retired because that’s just really funny to me.
I’m going into teaching, and hearing Jarvis talk about being bullied only makes me want to do it more. These kids need us. They need to be taught as soon as possible that being different is ok, and that they are loved and needed
if the bullies don't like or respect the teacher that intervenes, they might just start bullying the kid even more sometimes even if the bullies like the teacher, they'll blame the kid they're bullying for getting them on trouble. it can also be embarrassing for the kid who's being bullied, so definitely take that into consideration. intervention has got to be done carefully or it'll just make things worse
First sentence I thought you were saying hearing Jarvis talk about being bullied only made you want to bully kids more 💀💀 glad you are going to be a teacher tho ❤
lmao becky's friends turned on her so fast--she wasn't even broke, she was just being taught a lesson. but of course if she explained that to her friends first it wouldn't be a proper dharr mann sketch, now would it?
Im glad mom actually tells the kids off. The amount of times I have talked to parents of kids that are bullying, the parents end up being the ones instigating it and encouraging it and get mad at me for teaching their kids manners
I was on free and reduced lunch as well. One time for about a month I wasn't able to eat because I was waiting for a check from my mom to pay the cafeteria and the school kept on sending letters to pay for the bill. The lunch ladies harassed me every day for that time period to pay for the bill even though I was only eight and it was during the recession in 2007 as well
@@botanicalitus4194 Yeah it was pretty messed up. There were times when my fellow classmates would sneak an extra chicken patty sandwich for me. I was very grateful for that especially since I had PE right after lunch
Old as heck post but the exact same thing happened to me too. Even the janitors would get involved. The thing is that the school year that happened (5th grade) was already horrible because my teachers were genuinely awful. Super thankful my school district ended up making the lunches free
Also: Bully Becky is old enough to make her own lunch. Why is she getting the free meal that is meant for people in need? You have to do paperwork and qualify for that. Some actual poor kid is missing their lunch because Becky got it. I am also dubious that the Gucci store is next door to the thrift store.
That’s not necessarily true. Lots of schools have catered lunches that you can opt into and have nothing to do with “by need only.” In my school it was actually cool to have the school lunches because they were normally really good.
Also lot ppl have a $$$ life style but there poor trying keep up with jones. So they might not have money for food cause parent to busy buy cars , clothes an crap
This lowkey reminded me of my childhood tho. To this day i still remember this one boy who came up to me after and apologised, that he didnt mean to make me cry and was just joking because everyone else was. Ofcourse I remember the bad too but him coming on his own to apologise stayed with me all these years. He was also the only one to ever do that.
"What did you do to make people want to fight you?" Jarvis : I existed. It really was like that "Did you hear Jimmy wants to fight you after school??" Implying everyone but you already knows
Once I was playing an away match at a private school and the woman in the canteen gave me and my friend way more food than we payed for while telling us that kindness is more valuable than money and it's been seven years but I still wish her every happiness and I hope her phone screen never cracks
Thankfully my school district has had free lunches for everyone for a few years because I'm in a really poor area in the US, but it's so stupid it isn't like that everywhere
Dont be baffled, the US is objectiveIy a worse place to live than most developing countries unless you are upper middle class or upper class. Even poor European and many poor Asian ans African countries are better to Iive in than the US. The US only seems like its a developed country because of its huge miIitary and Veneer of progress via sociaI media and abundance of businesses, but tha majority of these things are completely inaccessible if you are middIe cIass or Iower.
I took a sound design class in college and the whole time Jarvis was talking about "additional dialogue recording" I thought I was going insane until someone in chat pointed out "automated dialogue replacement"
I personally never had fight invitations but my brother and a couple of my friends did. The worst fight we had was between these 2 girls who both went for each others hair and began ripping it out so there was just clumps of hair all over the floor where it happened. There was also this other girl who threw someone into a door and then they like bounced off and slid down the hall a bit but that wasn't really a fight yk. But tbh I thought fights and invitations to fights happening was pretty normal.
The only fight I can remember didn't involve me but involved ~50% of my high school on the 1st day and it ended up on the local news lol. Why you ask? Because it was a new school built to ease overcrowding so random lines were drawn that forced 10th-12th graders to a new school with their football team rivals and racist White kids who never went to diverse schools. Naturally tensions rose.
Had two girls try to fight me, but luckily nothing ever happened. However, my graduating class had the record number of fights in our school’s history. A girl even got ambushed and peed herself.
Sophomore year some girl tried to goad me into a fight, but she had nothing on what my mom would do to me if I came home late. Literally told the kid as much and booked it. Somehow, this wound up becoming badass to the rest of the school????
Wait, why would her friends call her "broke Becky" they know she's just being punished and isn't actually poor right? Also why would she need to go to the thrift store, persumably she still has clothes?
eirher she loves shopping and wearing new clothes so much that she won't stop because she isn't allowed to go to luxury stores or that is part of her punishment to wear thrifted clothes.
I grew up poor and my school gave us food but they only gave you old ham sandwiches and milk if you didn't have enough for normal lunch. They also pestered me everytime I got food as if I could somehow force my parents to stop neglecting me
I felt so bad at the end, why were people trying to steal the bingo like I get everyone wants a sub but I thought we were better then this. I expected better from you unnamed fanbase.
Kinda gross that just because she suddenly has to eat school lunches or get thrift store clothes, she's styled to look dumpy. Being poor doesn't mean you look unkempt or dirty or unstylish. It's pretty offensive that it's portrayed this way.
Jarvis is literally a life saver, I’ve been in a manic state for the last 3 days where I can’t seem to concentrate on anything and these vids are the only thing that has been able to bring me back to reality and allow me to enjoy something. THANK YOU JARVIS!!
The fact that so many people in chat lied about having that last bingo card is a damn shame. I really hope Jarvis figured it out. That’s such BS, dude.
Didnt know thid video would have me reliving some serious teenage trauma. My dad lived in the only cheap apartment in a seriously rich town, and I started using his address in high school cause the public school system was so much better than the city I lived in. I definitely had my lunch taken away many times cause I was too embarrassed to apply for free/reduced lunch. Eventually just started stealing packaged sushi from the cafeteria. Luckily I didn't really experience bullying, and have so much sympathy for Jarvis and anyone else who did. But before I went to the rich school, I definitely got many fight invitations like he did! It's definitely a thing.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that. The school system really sucks, we should not have to worry about whether or not we have food there or be shamed for it being free. I hope all is better now and make sure to take care of yourself!!
Unrealistic. That is a rich, asian mom. As the child of a rich asian mom, I can guarantee that the child would never be this entitled. However, the punishment is accurate
All my schools had free lunch for everyone. They like sent home surveys and if enough parents were poor we all got it, and I though paying for lunch was just a tv thing until I was like 12
I have been the kid that had to eat the reduced lunches. I sometimes didn't have enough money for those either! No child should have to miss meals much less have meals taken away!!!!
nyc public schools give free breakfast and lunch every single day to every child so we can make sure every kid eats regardless of financial status, I feel like that should be standard everywhere
I was on free lunch for a few years in elementary school. After a while they told me that my family's income was too high for free lunches, but I still couldn't afford to buy lunches so the last few years I could either bring a lunch or work in the kitchen cleaning during recess if I wanted a lunch. :)
That's absolutely ridiculous. They shouldn't make a kid work for their lunch. We're made by law to go to school so the least they could is just provide lunch smh
My kids' elementary school just started doing free lunches for all kids regardless of whether they qualify for F&R and I love that so much because of situations like this.

Oh no I think that one person meant that they didn’t understand how people could bully you cuz you’re awesome 😅 they should have explained or something.
I don't know if this was a new add to the list, bet when reading the list of items for the cards, there was one that said " POC played broke character" and I didn't hear it called out. If it was newly added or called out my bad, I must've missed it.

i was on free/reduced lunch but everyone at the schools i went to got the same food… the one thing i remember was when i was in high school and we were allowed to go out to eat, but i didn’t have money to get food outside so i’d just smuggle my free lunch in my backpack and eat it outside with my friends. which didn’t feel great but i’m glad my friends never made me feel bad about it
The idea of written invitations for a fight like it's an old-timey duel or a wedding is hilarious to me. But then again the pageboy approach via your bully's friend requesting your presence for a post-school smackdown is also really funny in hindsight. Man. Middle School sucked I'm glad it's over
I'm really sorry you had to experience being bullied Jarvis, and anyone else in the comments who may have been as well. It's a horrible thing that no-one should have to go through. I was highly triggered by the bullying in the video too as someone who experienced it all throughout my school years.
I've been a student who had their lunch taken away because of lack of money in my account. It's positively humiliating. I lived in Texas, the "No free rides" state growing up. You didn't even get free lunch back in the 90's. You just got nothing, unless your teachers were amazing...Which mine were not. As a teacher now, I've kept frozen meals, snacks, and other goodies in a mini fridge for my kiddos who either were denied lunch, or forgot it. I'm don't currently have my own classroom, but when I did - my kids ate. No kid deserves to starve. EVER. Especially in a "first world" country....that has no healthcare, no benefits, no parental leave, no subsidies, no insentives, and no promises for even the most basic thing like government-run retirement pensions that YOU paid into, but then won't get in return....because...reasons? Gotta make sure those trillionairs can afford their 6th house on another continent so they can park their jets there! That's the important thing - right, America?! They sure did work hard doing nothing all day other than trade stonks, so surely they deserve all the tax cuts - in fact - no taxes for them whatsoever! Poor people have to pay what little they have, and the middle and upper class get to foot the entire bill for everyone else, while the rich put their own politicians in power, give themselves lots of tax cuts, do absolutely NOTHING for this country, not even supply living-wage paid jobs with benefits - but reap all the treasures and goodies that come from owning a business or being lucky and born into a wealthy family. WOW, what a first world country! So bold. So brave. So free. Oh so free. Free to serve the rich. Free to be ruled by the rich. Free to be punished by the rich. Free to be the poo on the shoe of the rich. On the flip side - I would like to also take this moment to shout out Colorado, who used the taxes from mary j to be able to subsidize school lunches and technology. LPS is giving FREE lunches to ALL kids this year. It's so nice. It's been so kind and wonderful. I appreciate that they took tax surplus from something so controversial and put it to good use like schools and road repair.
Jarvis will never see this but I actually fucing love his voice. It’s so good for punchlines, and just like the lilt, the vocabulary? Bro I wish I had that lmao
Holy shit this is actually making me mad. I had free/reduced lunch for the entirety of my school life, and so did a lot of my classmates. Thankfully, no one was shamed or clowned on too much.
The lunch lady taking her food away was kind of weird. At my school I think they tell you when you put your lunch number in at the line. I was on free lunch, but sometimes got my lunch packed for me by my grandparents.
It took an edited-down 36 minutes to watch a 5 minute video. I love this concept and I even love Jarvis but MAN. This is why stream content is so hard for me to watch. I'm ready to laugh at Dhar Mann but I only get to watch like 2 seconds of the video in between 3 tangents, him forgetting what he last watched, rewinding, replaying... UGHHHHHHhhhhh. No offense to Jarvis in particular! Love the dude! I'm just more upset at stream content in general. The content always sounds so interesting to me so I keep getting sucked in, but then I regret it every time.
At my kids schools the policy was to make sure none of the kids had any idea who was free/reduced lunch. If a kid got into line for lunch and they had no money on their account they would just get the lunch for free, no questions asked. A bill would be sent to the parent but it would be very clear that they only had to pay IF they could, even if they didn't qualify for free/reduced lunch.
the whole taking away food from a child thing is especially shitty bc they have to throw it away for sanity reasons. WHY NOT JUST GIVE IT TO THE CHILD THEN?
I feel like in Dhar Mann world, you roll on a table for children and freinds (with a 50% chance of "Skeletor") and then just have to hover around near them being bored and passive-aggressive until you find a Very Important Lesson for them.

It's why I provide snacks in my classroom, and it's why I want to get even more food to provide
love u for this omg
In the Netherlands kids always bring their own lunches soms schools have cafeterias but they are so insanely expensive and usually the food is pretty bad for you as well
I never really understood school lunches in the Netherlands the average lunch would consist out of 1 or multiple sandwiches and a piece of fruit like a banana
This was definitely a weird lesson, just because the rich girl isn't getting rides home & has to thrift shop does not mean her entire life suddenly changed and she is poor, she won't understand what the other girl was going through because the rich girl didn't even go through it
just shows how out of touch dhar mann is with reality
And there’s nothing shameful about going thrifting or riding public transport regardless of financial status. Like i own a car and can afford to buy new clothes and I still do both regularly because I want to. This vid does nothing to refute the argument that poor stuff = bad.

fight invitations are the funniest things, people at school will be like "hey these two people are gonna fight at lunch on the court come watch" like why do you think i want to be involved in this im not friends with either of those people
TBH especially if you're bullied by girls. I fought back against the few boys that bullied me and they stopped.

"You never know what someone else is going through until you experience it yourself." I guess empathy doesn't exist.
yeah like how is that the lesson?? sure, you never truly know what it's like unless you experience it yourself. but dhar mann is basically saying you have to pretend to be poor for a couple of weeks in order to emphasize with poor people.
I happen to know for a fact that “fight invitations” absolutely exist and are exactly as awkward and random as they sound in Jarvis’ explanation.
I lived right in front of my school, and holy shit... it was extra awkward to just go home after school, ignoring the fight invitation and the whole fuzz it created. lol

God, do I know how that feels...
Not inferring is not an excuse to me, maybe cause I always interfered
Like wtf.
I'm loving Dhar Mann bingo
It really does hit you after watching so many of these that the lesson is never "respect people and treat them with dignity because they're people," but that you can only ever do that when you've personally experienced the same hardship.
Yeah..i agree
its literally just a series of "doesnt it suck to be poor be happy you're not poor" OR "aren't you ashamed you used the wrong stereotype on this person" (poc being rich)
I never really took any of the Dhar Mann videos seriously. There's just such a lack of empathy and genuineness. It's so hallow.
Especially since I think she was in _middle school._
My school was lucky enough to get funded to give everyone free lunch for four years, but that's running out this year, so :/ Really wish they could put more money into the basic human right of _being fed at the place you legally have to go to._
damn i rlly hope a lot of ppl in the usa had that in the uk at least poor ppl often become free school meals which mean they get around £2.50 daily to spend on a meal at lunch and other things like school trips can be free or the money will be reduced (if money is required) like im free school meals and i have free singing and guitar lessons whereas other ppl pay £2.50 a week for each lesson

In my brothers freshman year two girls were fighting and one girl grabbed the other ones hair and slammed her into a locker.
A girl even got ambushed and peed herself.
we had fight invitations but no one ever actually gone through with it, even those who invited usually did not have the nerve to fight anyone
Sophomore year some girl tried to goad me into a fight, but she had nothing on what my mom would do to me if I came home late. Literally told the kid as much and booked it.
Somehow, this wound up becoming badass to the rest of the school????
Jarvis having the restraint not to backseat parent raised my respect for him higher than i thought was possible
Guys I’d love to watch this video but I’m running super late, I have to go to the big….. hiphopconcert
20:30 “I’m sorry, everybody”
I don’t know why but the way jarvis said that made me feel smth in my little heart 🥺
I expected better from you unnamed fanbase.
seriously
Kinda gross that just because she suddenly has to eat school lunches or get thrift store clothes, she's styled to look dumpy. Being poor doesn't mean you look unkempt or dirty or unstylish. It's pretty offensive that it's portrayed this way.
Jarvis is literally a life saver, I’ve been in a manic state for the last 3 days where I can’t seem to concentrate on anything and these vids are the only thing that has been able to bring me back to reality and allow me to enjoy something. THANK YOU JARVIS!!
They're families have personal chefs but don't care enough about their kids to take them out of public school.
I had to take free lunches as a kid, but I was happy with it ngl
Uncrustables, water bottle, and a fruit cup? That shit's the bomb
"my mums taking me shopping at gucci" wait y'all just have gucci stores around? like there's stores for JUST gucci and you can just go to them?
why did they imply that the gucci store is right next to this thrift store, the dhar mann universe is so peculiar
imagine going to a strip mall irl and one store is a gucci store and the next one is a nondescript non-chain thrift store
bro, your voice making people mad? I could fall asleep to your voice, it's so soothing
The moment you even THINK about it..your asian mom already have the chancla ready
All my schools had free lunch for everyone. They like sent home surveys and if enough parents were poor we all got it, and I though paying for lunch was just a tv thing until I was like 12
I have watched every minute of every video of this channel and I hope Jarvis is having as such a good time doing as we are watching.
I def agree w unreasonably calm and forgiving. I had a bully, ironically named Brooke, in 4th grade. 15 years later I’m still salty
I have been the kid that had to eat the reduced lunches. I sometimes didn't have enough money for those either! No child should have to miss meals much less have meals taken away!!!!
I love dhar man bingo so much. It’s a game show within a game show and I live for it
Remember , we’re not just playing bingo. We’re changing lives! Jarvis’ life!
Do Dhar Mann videos take place in a world where school buses don’t exist?
If those first girls did anything like that in my old middle school, I guarantee they’d get decked in the face by atleast half the school.
nyc public schools give free breakfast and lunch every single day to every child so we can make sure every kid eats regardless of financial status, I feel like that should be standard everywhere
Playing Jarvis VODs in the background while I play Genshin has been a quality experience I'm gonna have to start watching the actual streams live
When I grew up having a lunch from home was the "poor person"
You can't afford to buy food at school so you have to have leftovers.
There is nothing like playing animal crossing while watching Dhar Mann bingo 😌
My kids' elementary school just started doing free lunches for all kids regardless of whether they qualify for F&R and I love that so much because of situations like this.
Jarvis is spoiling us with all this bingo 💜 Also, apparently a few kids have asked my mom, a school librarian, if she has any Dhar Mann books 😭
why is that actually so funny😂
i mean, he teaches somewhat good lessons and it’s kinda good that kids care
@@lydia7202 he doesnt really. his videos alack a certain empathy that should be taught. its never "be nice because being mean is wrong and you should respect other people" its "be nice cause you never know if the other person is rich/you never know if youll be poor too". its so fucking misguided and actually a bad lesson to teach a kid.
Oh no I think that one person meant that they didn’t understand how people could bully you cuz you’re awesome 😅 they should have explained or something.
I mean it's still a bad take, even though it's well intentioned. No one deserves it, and there's rarely a good reason
The amount of people in chat that say you don't have to pay or that it's not how school works is shocking.
I don't know if this was a new add to the list, bet when reading the list of items for the cards, there was one that said " POC played broke character" and I didn't hear it called out. If it was newly added or called out my bad, I must've missed it.
Random expensive brand name should only count if it's not referring to one of the Dhar Cars. Otherwise you're gonna get both of those every single time
i was on free/reduced lunch but everyone at the schools i went to got the same food… the one thing i remember was when i was in high school and we were allowed to go out to eat, but i didn’t have money to get food outside so i’d just smuggle my free lunch in my backpack and eat it outside with my friends. which didn’t feel great but i’m glad my friends never made me feel bad about it
The idea of written invitations for a fight like it's an old-timey duel or a wedding is hilarious to me. But then again the pageboy approach via your bully's friend requesting your presence for a post-school smackdown is also really funny in hindsight.
Man. Middle School sucked I'm glad it's over
There really should be a space for "alliterative nickname" because it comes up a LOT
"Gina the Giant"
A named that a fucking grown-ass man said unironically to a person for being tall.
As someone who grew up hood adjacent, yes fight invitations are real and yes you have to RSVP
dhar mann thinking poor people go clothes shopping all the time like a rich person would, but just at the thrift store instead of gucci??
Any family that has personal chefs would never allow their children to be sullied by a public school education, doesn't Dhar Mann know this?
I want Dhar Mann to make a video where he purposely tries to fit all of these in
Jarvis will never see this but I actually fucing love his voice.
The way we think of Jarvis as such a cool dude that that one person in chat thought it inconceivable that he was bullied lmao
nickname alliteration is a bona fide Dhar-trope. Gotta add!!
This is such a good series! Please do more guest episodes.
3:33 the personal chef comment is funny cuz if your parents can afford a personal chef. They can afford to put you in private school
Jarvis you have a wonderful voice I hope that didn’t get you down king
Just binged the first 3 of these this morning. Perfect.
the whole taking away food from a child thing is especially shitty bc they have to throw it away for sanity reasons.
