    6:44 with the Kobo, you can actually just slide up and down in the left margin within a book to change the brightness. That way you don't have to go into the settings.

    There seems to be little difference between this and the old model. The extra templates will most likely come in an update but other than that there is just the warm light missing from the original model. The new pen doesn't need batteries but its not that big of a deal

      @@Beefers26 I bought a kindle fire HD 10 in the latest sale. Key points:
      1) I saved about £250
      2) It is excellent for manga with the £2.50 comicat app.
      3) full colour display
      4)micro SD upto 1TB
      5) I must have massive hands because it seems small, yet the 10.3" elipsa looks huge in the video!

    "File support pretty equal to Kindle Scribe"
    Tell me you know nothing without telling me you know nothing about file support. Kindle only supports Mobi and KFX, their own files. You need 3rd party software to put files on it. Be fair and say the truth, Kobo supports all free file formats and doesn't need me to teach every non tech person how to operate an ebook manager.

  • @ertagon

    227ppi is a deal breaker,
    And having to charge a stylus sucks, all it takes is to forget about it once.
    They should have went with wireless charging directly from the device.

    • @kbhasi
      @kbhasi Před rokem +1

      The 10" 300ppi display you were thinking of likely has its availability restricted under the terms of an exclusivity agreement signed between E-ink and Amazon, as I had seen similar things happen with the 2017 Oasis and 2021 Paperwhite displays.

    • @ertagon
      @ertagon Před rokem

      @@kbhasi Fine, but does it matter why? The device is not competitive. Not sure if as consumers we should care about why.

    • @astirling
      @astirling Před rokem +6

      It's competitive when it comes to capability. The scribe doesn't have handwriting recognition, copy / paste, any way to insert space in a notebook, shape recognition, third party cloud storage support etc etc etc. As a note taker it's the worst eink device on the market. By a long long way

  • @AliHusain-in2pv
    @AliHusain-in2pv Před rokem +3

    This would have been a great device...in 2021. Why would anyone pay $400 for this woefully inferior screen when a Kindle Scribe with 300 PPI can be had for $339?
    And with access to Amazon's book store, and the ability to easily send personal documents wirelessly.
    Kobo should drop the price on this to $300 if they want to compete with Amazon. Otherwise, sales are going to be abysmal.

    • @Invictus_Mithra
      @Invictus_Mithra Před rokem +6

      The Kindle Scribes note taking features are abysmal. You can't write on books or annotate pdfs on it easily. Also, in order to export pdfs you need to send it through amazon's servers for processing. Not the greatest thing to do if you value your privacy. If you just want a big ereader though, it is superior
