Watch out using big pedestrian areas because when zoning the game automatically makes you pay for maintenance for how big the area is
Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip!
There is one very annoying thing with pedestrian areas. Building pedestrian "roads" seems to automatically extend the pedestrian area around the "road"
He's back! Having played for over 2000 hours, I'm still learning more and getting new ideas watching your content - this is great.
Thanks Kevin! I'm glad to hear you are still learning stuff
Thank you for these guide series. It helped me understand the game in large extent. Please keep it up!
My hope is to start doing more here soon. I'm glad you are enjoying then
Nice to see the mention of induced demand towards the end of this episode. One of my pet peeves with some of the "Oh noes, traffic!!" Skylines videos is that it feels like that concept is completely forgotten about.
The long wait is over 😊 and I’m 10 min in and make a lot of notes for inspiration for my next new build 15.12.22😊
Hello again! Cool video! Waited for awhile now. Thanks for the tips!!!
Just a tip if you want :) You should think on adding an elevated roundabout in that highway interchange for improving the traffic and make it a constantly move
I thought about that. I don't know if it would fit that well but maybe we will try it
The purple trees are called Jacarandas. Look up Pretoria in south africa when Jacarandas bloom and you'll see how awesome they are
Thank you for using my suggestion! Also if I may suggest another thing, wait to make the downtown until the skyscraper CC comes out.
I might, it would be fun messing around with the new dlc
Unique building has a lot of nice buildings and huge ones as well could make a nice full square to fit a lot of them in and make it look nice 😊
Ahh! Long waited!
Thank you because i was losing money at a rate of -100 to -120
I love your guide! When I was new to like this game I like placed the water pumps and sewage on the land. I know it is funny 😅. And my old city had a flood all the times thanks for the tips I really appreciate you ☺️.
I made a few mistakes like that when I was new as well 🤣
Please remake video and Bullet Point the Different Methods then briefly explain process then get into the nitty gritty if you feel it still adds value. Some of us are old and just need the deets. I appreciate your efforts but your slacking Johnson. I want those TPS reports on my desk by Friday or your doing this off the clock on Saturday! And get me pictures of spiderman!
🤣it would have been good to do bullet points. I'm thinking about doing another beginners guide after this one. Maybe for these I formative episodes ill focus more on information delivery. Thanks for the suggestion!
Man me and my buddy love watching your vids. Keep it up! learning so much from these series. And best the thing is we get drunk while watching, since we drink everytime you say... just a smidge🤣.
Thx bro
Watching trucks bending when they turn always makes me giggle
Bro TYSM im not that good at city skylines youvr helped me TY
Thank you for watching! Glad it helped!
wish was a few Swimming pool areas by the beach and some sports facilities around the coastline, otherwise, fantastic as always! thanks also able to build up Post lighting between motorway roads, nice to have it in night shoot mode :)
You could also add in more public transport
I always mix up the new industry dlc with the old industry specialisation what specific for ole works great I don’t see many mixing them both up 😅
It really ties it all together
Random question 😂 how long did every episode take to create?🙏 this series has help me alot with the game. Thank you for your service ♻️
It depends, some take 10-20 hours. Others take 3-7
Excellent! Keep it cheese free.
Hey im hooked to this series and am not sure if i just missed it or it has still to come but can you tell me the lut/lod and theme youre using? Love it!
I use a custom theme. I have a mix uploaded to steam but I need to link all the different themes for it. I use the clerya lut
Does this method of not using the extractor buildings and importing resources work for the other industries as well?
It does!
2024 Boca Raton Charges $10 to even walk into the gift shops. Lol so a paid Bridge is very real down here as well.
Yeah, I think it's become a norm in a lot of places now. It does help to support the bridges in a lot of instances.
There are power lines that aren't needed and that are taking up space
I know. I am going through here and there and getting rid of them
Make the downtown pls!
Check the encourage cycling as it costs you no money to implement
Nice vid!
Edit: hey I’m first
Me, a non-dlc player trying to work out how all of these youtubers are making huge stonks, meanwhile I struggle to push 8k 🤨I thought I might just be bad, but also suspected it was the industries dlc from the start, and yeah, I think it is sadly.
It is the industries dlc. It makes so much money
@@CityZilla Any general tips for totally non-dlc players? I feel no matter what I do, my income just ends up balancing out to something like 2-7k (8k was an exaggeration). I saw I was probably overspending on some services, so I shut some buildings down, and after a short period of increased income, it just went back down again, despite nobody complaining about lack of services or low land worth
@tommeakin1732 if you max out taxes on just residential and commercial you can make 30k a week but you have to bring them down when they get angry but you can repeat the process.
45:38 Who noticed that there are cars on the pedestrian road ?!
48:50 What is the name of this mod and what is its benefit ?!
It's called toggle it and it allows you to toggle certain visual elements in the game
I tried district policies wasn't fast enough..
I need to stop myself making all my areas ultra-dense & with no room for expansion lol
It's easy to just build and zone. The hard part is leaving spaces. It almost looks incomplete but it is way more realistic
How do you spin your trees? Is that a mod, or can it be done in vanilla?
It's a mod called tree anarchy
How does your oil industry work if you have no pumps?
It's an import oil industry
@@CityZilla If i placed oil pumps, would it work better or worse if i placed oli pumps? (I'm building it near a oil natural recource
zone)
Downtown?
👌🖐️
When I'm at the point where I have several million in the bank and +10k average weekly income, I just can't spend it all. Maybe I'm not expanding fast enough?
This happens to me a lot as well. If you do a really extensive build you can take a chunk out if it but it's tough. It almost feels like a cheat sometimes
Are you using a Lut or Theme?
I use both
So, heres my biggest problem, its when industry CLAIMS it dosnt have any buyers for yheir product, the stores who sell those items CLAIM to not have enough customers, but the bar says i dont have any retail demand! GAAAAHHHH!!!!! Btw im still high up in the positives when it comes to weekly (daily?) Income...
Commercial zoned goods can be a tricky think in this game. Proximity to industry plays a part as well
@@CityZilla thay have decent access to both highways and such, this happends when you leveled them up a bit and you need mostly educated workers
I have a feeling this man is american.
🤣
Why is there no pollution in the industrial area?
I use a mod to remove it
That's what I figured, I did the same then, it just looks so unrealistic
What map is this
It's called coastal gem and it's apart of the plazas and promenades dlc
Hey where’s this weeks episode?
I have a Canalville episode coming out in the morning. My goal is to have the next beginners guide out on Wednesday with a double header on Friday as well. I am using the new Content creator pack which ended up taking me a bit longer than it would usually have. Sorry for the delay
@@CityZilla all good just wondering :)
Will u ever make Downtown?
It's coming though a few people have suggested I wait for the new skyscrapers ccp
This was very very unhelpful, I kept watching hoping you would get to those 100k numbers I have seen others reach but the mistakes and issues your city has were so bothersome I couldn’t finish
Thanks for the feedback
With DLCs&MODs is not hard to make money. It would be more interesting to do without DLCs
Yeah, I touched on this a bit when I said it's just about budgeting and building our more. It's tough to make money in pure vanilla
I figure if you're gonna use cheesy and unrealistic ways to generate income, just toggle the box for unlimited funds. o.O
(and I have, when I want to be able to just go nuts)
i want achievments
This isn't cheesy or unrealistic at all. He used the Industries DLC to create an import oil industry as there was no natural resource beneath that area. And then you add factories to produce materials from the imported raw goods (oil) and more factories to produce goods from the materials. The real money maker is utilizing warehouses for the materials and goods, and then fine tuning between balanced, fill, and empty based on production.
@@KevinGWhittaker I'm talking about the thing he said in the beginning, like charging a fee for pedestrians using a bridge. Even our local officials haven't gotten that scummy (yet), so we shouldn't either, even if it is just a game. 😝
@@phj223 Fair, I assumed you were talking about the ore industry. Carry on!
Yeah, I have done a few of these super cheesy methods in the past but I try not to
Great vids.
Are you saying "arboreals"?
Thank you! You know, I'm not sure. Can you put a time stamp for me
Whats a good starting map?
My crater lake series was built on lagoon shore which is a vanilla map that I enjoy a lot
@@CityZilla Thank you. I get overwhelmed on what map to start with.
No problem! There are a lot of maps. It can be a bit overwhelming
