  • When you see the Xbox 360 Slim Corona CPU or GPU temperature rising so quick or stays at about 70 up to 80 degree Celsius right after you turn on the console, then there is a problem with some resistors near the XCGPU and Southbridge.
You can only see this information easily when you run the Freestyle Dashboard. And you have to mod your console first to run it.
This video will show you how to repair it in no time
    Enjoy the video.

@@MarcoS-yd9pf Nothing...the silicone used to secure it in place from factory that you cut away was only there to stop you from opening it, the new thermal paste you'll put there between the cover and the chip AND again between the cover and the heat sink (like a sandwich) will be enough to hold it in place once its all clamped down.
I've done this numerous times with XBox 360's & PS3 fat's and they've never come loose. In fact, with the adherence properties that thermal paste has I've had great difficulty lifting the covers off the heat sink by hand once they're stuck down with paste...they will never ever fall off! The key is pressure, make sure you've really pressed that heat spreader (metal cover) down onto the heat sink before putting the whole lot back on top of the chip.

Thank you for this, I have the Xbox360 S star wars Console and exactly this happened to mine about a year ago; powers up, 10 flashes of the red light then immediately shuts down. I was going to bin it (got a used console for 25 GBP off ebay) but forgot about it. Then came across this video, dug the console out to try this fix. However, when I tested the resistors, only one was reading high (44ohms) so I only replaced that with a solder jumper and left the others alone. It was quite difficult to do, you need a steady hand, 0.3mm solder wire, a free standing magnifying glass and a thin pointed solder iron tip heated to 300 Celsius. The console powered up and is now working fine. Not sure how long it will last, but I'm grateful for this video. Thanks again.

Hey, I think I'm having the same problem. A friend of mine asked me to fix his 360 slim cause the fan would spin up at like max rpm, and then the front light would blink red. I checked the heatsink and it looked alright. The thermal paste wasn't anything special but it looked fine. I know I have a corona v4/v6 from the research I did, but I'm still skeptic. But I noticed a difference between my mobo and yours. I don't have any of those post out joints near the CPU. Is yours just modded and you added those or is my mobo a different model? I would really appreciate the help. I can't find much online, and what I do find makes no sense.

Couldn't get a solder ball to flow between the pads so had to cut some small strips of copper from a stranded 12ga copper wire and tin them on my iron, then peel off the iron using tweezers and place with the tweezers while heating.

had a Corona v2 doing this exact issue, all of the resistor polarity was off on the board, This fixed it perfectly. To anyone worried this will cause more issues, the resistors you're removing and bridging are 0 (Yes, Zero) Ohm resistors, a solder bridge is exactly the same as replacing the resistor, just without the fail rate. as long as you can solder, this should be pretty easy for you, I did it with a soldering iron that had a melting tip, took me all of 2 mins to do the bridges and 30 seconds to flow it properly and neatly. Definitely need a new soldering iron before I tackle installing an Ace v3 though, Haha. Cheers bud, Gonna double check a corona v4 I have with the same issue and see if I can fix it :D

I've done this same method on a Halo corona unit i got and it hasn't worked strangely, about 4 of the resistors were reading in the high 20s-30s so i just removed all of them and bridged them, still a constant red light, but i could intermittently get a successful post by bridging r4d5 and r4d7 with some tweasers, several reflows didn't help either. Not sure where to go from here but its worth saving being a special halo 4 edition and the board has some software to give it the custom sounds.

Hello , helpme please , my console Xbox 360slim , have motherboard Trinity , and , my console restarting a One moment when play videogames or the console ,
the game locks up or rather, the screen freezes when playing, or if not as I said I reboot the xbox, but when the game is locked, the imagem is connected, the remote is turned off, and I unplug it and turn it on again, it does not turn on the remote control, and the xbox appears that if it is connected, the air that comes out of the fan is very hot, what do you think it is? and do you think that with fixing thermal paste
