For me, it alarms one time at start up and not again until I start it again (2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ). I'm onto this step now, I've replaced the internal cab controller, the plug at the rear (not the pig-tail). I'm hoping this is it, I'm not as mechanically inclined as you. I'm going on process of elimination. LOL. I'm in Utah and we have a lot of salt on the roads too. Thanks for the video.
Hope this helps ya rob. To be honest the module looked brand new from the outside, couldn’t even tell until I pried it open
@JFinckMinistries no it did not. I've replaced everything but the fuse box and the whole wiring from front to back. The service shop I took it to led me down a rabbit hole of repairs and state that these could be the only two other problems to fix
Appreciate the info! I have a 2021 silverado with the 3.0l duramax. Didn't come with factory trailer brake controler but i purchased this module and the dash switch. Looking to figure out where module location is. Any chance there is a video of the install/ location for the module? Thanks for the help!
I have a 2016 tahoe that after multiple times hooking up trailer. 2 times now it has caused the truck to not want to start at certain times and give multiple buss, ecm, tcm communication codes. If this is the issue can the car run without the module plugged in?
@@tylerist8 hmmm interesting, I want to say it’s definitely possible the module could be causing a short circuit on the buss and creating that no start condition
@Tech-28 it's just weird because I've done nothing to it since it started happening and all of a sudden it starts up just fine with nothing besides CEL (permanent coded)
@@tylerist8 do you know what fault codes you have in the system?

Could this possibly cause trailer running light fuse to blow? I've replaced the lights and entire wiring on trailer. I've checked wiring under the truck from what I can see, everything is good there. I'm thinking that one of these modules is the problem. I have had the check trailer brake system light come on maybe two or three times in the past year but it'll go off and stay off for a long time. Thanks for any info on this
Yes that is definitely a possibility
I would install a circuit breaker in place of the fuse (same rating of course) and then unplug the module and see if the circuit breaker stops tripping
Can corrosion like that happen to a Florida truck 2018 gmc sierra denali ultimate 6.2 intermittent service trailer brake service stabilitrak and abs light on also lane assist disabled when this happens
Yes it can, there is a bulletin on this issue
Any info how to get the connector to it. I’m having hell of time getting it off.
Same here ^^
Any programming needed after installing the new module? Or is it just plug in and go
Just plug and go. I erased fault codes after replacing it but I imagine they would clear themselves after a few drive cycles
