Because it is! I have two LSs who have denounced - one respectively let us know in the group chat, wished us all well, and we all wished her well before she removed herself from the group. The other called a few of us to ask us to remind her of what we did during our initiation because her husband (non-Greek and no college experience) showed her CZcams videos about denouncing and told her she should do the same. She never came to our group chat and shared any of these thoughts NOR her final decision but instead went to social media with a full professionally crafted image and message about her leaving the organization, which was followed by at least 10-15 videos, lives, and posts from her HUSBAND about our organization. I originally supported her decision, but once her husband who knows absolutely NOTHING about our org got on there calling us witches and reading a completely outdated handbook of our process that he found online. She’s proceeded to do speaking engagements while draped in designer labels, both posting nothing but Jesus and luxury items and trips, but WE worship idols. Chile PLEASE…say you only got in it because you thought it aligned with your vain image and never did community service without saying it…🙄. Some people see an opportunity to go viral and become blinded by the engagement. So very sad, and I honestly pray for them😞

Keep in mind you have students that attend Howard for their 1st Black experience. They may have gone to boarding school, be 1st generation college students, or chose the school because of the various partnership programs the school has in the corporate world or abroad. A lot of students have tunnel vision and really do not partake in campus activities, like many would assume. They could attend that university and not have the same experience as the masses. The same folks may come from a family of non Greeks.

So I just listened to this segment and the way I screamed hollered and laughed and amen and yes God to this as a 14-year-old member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority Incorporated you said it all. Especially about chapter meeting. Given up Saturday morning Saturday all day if you a Committee Member for the mentoring groups because I was committee chair for our Delta Academy for 5 years and that meant my whole Saturday was taken up with the children's of the community and making sure that they act decently and experience new things and help them out with stem programs and taking them to stem programs and uplifting events. Yes we work for free and not only that when we work for free the things that we have to do and go to Regionals we have to spend money while we work for free for the community. Thank you so much for this and I agree a thousand percent about the packet for the undergrads to take with them and the signatures 🔺️
As a Zeta, I did more community service hours than I attended to social events like Blue & White Weekend, parties etc. I denounced my letters informally and quietly as that life no longer served a purpose after graduation.
And often times it doesn’t serve a purpose after graduation!! 🤷🏽♀️ White Greeks are not lifetime members. They just stop participating. Ain’t no need to denounce after graduation baby just stop participating. It’s nowhere near that deep
@@jjackson6683 I was in a NPC sorority and that is pretty accurate. The people I know who depinned, just wrote a short letter saying why they were leaving and that was it. After college, if they wanted to rejoin (which I know someone who did that)they just pay a fee and their membership will be reinstated. I do know women and men who are still involved as advisors and volunteer at the National level. For the most part though, people join NPC and IFC organizations for the social aspect in college. Once they graduate, they stay friends with who they want to be friends with, donate money to Nationals every now and then, maybe write a recommendation letter for someone going through recruitment, and go about their business.

It's a legacy and networking thing for most. My mother is a Delta and I always wanted to be able to say we are sisters. When I first moved to Atlanta I got my job because the man that hired me was D9 and I'm a Delta. We look out for each other. When we travel we always represent because we never know who may be able to hook us up. I've gotten to skip lines, gotten free tickets to events. It has its perks.
The young lady who went denounced DST after just crossing; I have a relative who knows her relative. They said she and others did it just for clout and attention. She was a legacy and her ppl are really embarrassed.
So what about those who did get to pledge and still left? People aren’t saying that the individuals in the organization are evil, it’s the spirits behind the organizations. All of these Greek gods (false gods) that are attached to the organizations is the issue. Many times we subtly place the orgs over the true and living God. Anyone who wishes to renounce/denounce has that right. The same way we went in publicly, boldly, loudly, is the same way we can come out. There’s a many great things that people in the orgs do, however who gets the glory from that? Jesus or the name of the org? We are supposed to be Christian based organizations however all of the things that are done during set/pledging, which is illegal, to get three GREEK letters (in most instances) is so UNGODLY; those who know, know. Yes, there is a lot of information out there to research, however, have you ever wanted something so bad, and you’ve been warned it wasn’t all good, nonetheless you still went ahead and tried it because you thought your experience was going to be different and when you get it, you truly find out that all that glitters is not gold? Well that’s what’s happening to many of the new initiates into the organizations. No one can tell me that the humiliation many people experience while illegally pledging is worth it. No one except Jesus is able to say they are tearing me down to build me back up, and the MOST HIGH doesn’t do that.
Are you going to denounce your government/country too? We sign off on oaths for work, services, etc. picking and choosing like this is what turns ppl off from the kingdom.
We are not Christian based. We are guided by Christian principles of serving the least of these. Idols and pagan traditions are attached to Christmas, Easter and birthdays. Are you going to renounce those holidays? How about the days of the week which are named after Greek astronomy with comes from Greek deities. Are going to denounce the calendar? If it’s the oath she had a problem with she already took it so technically it’s said and done. The time to back out was at the ceremony when she read the oath to herself.
Keep in mind you have students that attend Howard for their 1st Black experience. They may have gone to boarding school, be 1st generation college students, or chose the school because of the various partnership programs the school has in the corporate world or abroad. A lot of students have tunnel vision and really do not partake in campus activities, like many would assume. They could attend that university and not have the same experience as the masses. The same folks may come from a family of non Greeks.

So I just listened to this segment and the way I screamed hollered and laughed and amen and yes God to this as a 14-year-old member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority Incorporated you said it all. Especially about chapter meeting. Given up Saturday morning Saturday all day if you a Committee Member for the mentoring groups because I was committee chair for our Delta Academy for 5 years and that meant my whole Saturday was taken up with the children's of the community and making sure that they act decently and experience new things and help them out with stem programs and taking them to stem programs and uplifting events. Yes we work for free and not only that when we work for free the things that we have to do and go to Regionals we have to spend money while we work for free for the community. Thank you so much for this and I agree a thousand percent about the packet for the undergrads to take with them and the signatures 🔺️
As a Zeta, I did more community service hours than I attended to social events like Blue & White Weekend, parties etc. I denounced my letters informally and quietly as that life no longer served a purpose after graduation.
And often times it doesn’t serve a purpose after graduation!! 🤷🏽♀️ White Greeks are not lifetime members. They just stop participating. Ain’t no need to denounce after graduation baby just stop participating. It’s nowhere near that deep
@@jjackson6683 I was in a NPC sorority and that is pretty accurate. The people I know who depinned, just wrote a short letter saying why they were leaving and that was it. After college, if they wanted to rejoin (which I know someone who did that)they just pay a fee and their membership will be reinstated. I do know women and men who are still involved as advisors and volunteer at the National level. For the most part though, people join NPC and IFC organizations for the social aspect in college. Once they graduate, they stay friends with who they want to be friends with, donate money to Nationals every now and then, maybe write a recommendation letter for someone going through recruitment, and go about their business.

I would only attend homecoming to hang out with my line sisters and brothers because we’re family at this point. It's a legacy and networking thing for most. My mother is a Delta and I always wanted to be able to say we are sisters. When I first moved to Atlanta I got my job because the man that hired me was D9 and I'm a Delta. We look out for each other. When we travel we always represent because we never know who may be able to hook us up. I've gotten to skip lines, gotten free tickets to events. It has its perks.

So what about those who did get to pledge and still left? People aren’t saying that the individuals in the organization are evil, it’s the spirits behind the organizations. All of these Greek gods (false gods) that are attached to the organizations is the issue. Many times we subtly place the orgs over the true and living God. Anyone who wishes to renounce/denounce has that right. The same way we went in publicly, boldly, loudly, is the same way we can come out. There’s a many great things that people in the orgs do, however who gets the glory from that? Jesus or the name of the org? We are supposed to be Christian based organizations however all of the things that are done during set/pledging, which is illegal, to get three GREEK letters (in most instances) is so UNGODLY; those who know, know. Yes, there is a lot of information out there to research, however, have you ever wanted something so bad, and you’ve been warned it wasn’t all good, nonetheless you still went ahead and tried it because you thought your experience was going to be different and when you get it, you truly find out that all that glitters is not gold? Well that’s what’s happening to many of the new initiates into the organizations. No one can tell me that the humiliation many people experience while illegally pledging is worth it. No one except Jesus is able to say they are tearing me down to build me back up, and the MOST HIGH doesn’t do that.

We are not Christian based. We are guided by Christian principles of serving the least of these. Idols and pagan traditions are attached to Christmas, Easter and birthdays. Are you going to renounce those holidays? How about the days of the week which are named after Greek astronomy with comes from Greek deities. Are going to denounce the calendar? How about wedding rings which are exchanged in church and blessed by ministers. Do you know the history of that?
