I remember we played Saint Thomas Aquinas back in 2011 for the high school kick off the final score was 31 to 28. It was supposed to be 35 to 31 but they called our punt return back I played for Prattville High school in Alabama…. They cheated us. He said our guy stepped out of bounds and that was clearly not true. That’s one game I would love to have back but it’s OK. We want to 6A state championship that year. Great memories though there’s nothing like playing high school football.

FL refs will always find reasons to favor their programs. I don't trust them AT ALL--but I did feel this game was officiated more fair. Honestly, these games should be officiated by non-local refs but I doubt that will happen

Born and raised Cali, It always been which state is the best CA, TX or FL? We’ll late 80’s it was TX, in the 90’s it was a toss up between FL and CA but with De La Salle which in the Bay area who hold the record for 151 game winning streak from 1992 til 2004 12 yrs with out a loss and the played a lot of out of state games and I don’t believe it will ever happen again. 2004 it was between FL and TX til 2012. Since then it’s been CA. Now FLis not soft nor is TX some states just have their time. FL I will say produces some the best athletes to play the game especially the skilled position like WR, DB RB hell THE U was Damn near a NFL TEAM!! Lol TX produced the same as so did Cali so all of this whos better not that serious teams have their yrs. A good friend who coaches in Ocala FL did say Cali ball is better do to the schemes and play calling, DL with Violent hands getting off blocks hell #44 is a 5’8 Monster!! Anywho I can go on but game like this with the dumb penalties are great for high school FB you get to see future CFB and NFL players
Cali players are just way more technically advanced and the coaching is better out west. They also procedure way better QBs which is the most important position. Florida got the occasional freak skill players and especially defensive line players you don’t see in CA. But a big, big difference is just the mental game, technique, and playbook.

I agree with your assessment. California has been the best For Team play for the past 6 years. I was saying this 6 years ago when Maxpreps was still riding the Texas bandwagon. Maxpreps actually gave NorthShore a National Championship. That was one of the worst Championships ever. The reason being because it was chosen by one person Matt Poff who is biased towards Texas. 5 teams that year would have beat NorthShore straight up.
@@DPMixingI agree. Another thing that I would like to add, that makes the team play better in California is, The top teams in California play each other every year. This is by design with the CIF. If you are a top team you will be moved up to play top teams. Look at all the good team non conference schedules all them play each other. Florida, Ohio, Georgia, and Pennsylvania do this to an extent but not on the scale that California does. Also Texas does not do this. Very rarely do you see their top teams meet in the regular season. Texas has these cupcake schedules.
I’ve notice the difference between st.John’s and other high schools they’re very disciplined and they do the small thing over the course of the game

The difference was definitely the trenches. As soon as SJB came out and I saw the size difference I knew it was over. St Thomas looked liked a high school team and SJB LOOKED LIKE A COLLEGE TEAM

STA was on a 27 game winning streak and had 4 state championships but got beat by the same 3 plays while the refs kept them in the game it was embarrassing. Anyone who watched this game knows it should've been at least 35-7. SJB is the most undisciplined team I've ever seen they had so many unsportsman likes and false starts.

I was at the game and I would say the refs were pretty fair with the penalties. But one thing I did notice is how big and strong SJB's players were, also no.27 was a man amongst boys out there.

I felt like both teams definitely have had better teams personnel wise.
I found the game to be pretty vanilla to be the nations elite programs. Never seen Bosco shrink theyre offense down to just bubble and tunnel screens. And who the hell was #24 at MLB for Aquinas 😂
St.thomas lost their entire secondary and top 3 pass rushers from last year, whom all had double digit sacks.
