      Of course, we are one of many informatics programs in the nation. The difference between our program and the others is that we are the only free standing school exclusively devoted to informatics, other schools are departments located in a school.

    Is a masters in health informatics sufficient to be successful or are HIM certifications a must for job opportunities?

    • @McWilliamsSBMI
      @McWilliamsSBMI  Před 4 lety

      The answer to this question depends on several factors including what type of career you want to explore, your undergraduate education & your work experience. But note that HIM certifications are offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and are for professions seeking health information careers and not necessarily health informatics careers. A degree in health or biomedical informatics will allow a student to explore an interdisciplinary field that integrates healthcare, technology, and research practices intended to analyze and protect patient data, improve on healthcare efficiencies, and enhance the level of patient care provided.
      Someone with a RHIT will have a career focused around the quality of medical/health records by verifying their completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems. A RHIA professional handles management of patient health information and medical records, administering computer information systems, collecting and analyzing patient data, and using classification systems and medical terminologies.

    What's the difference bitween Medical Informetics and Health Informetics....pls

    • @McWilliamsSBMI
      @McWilliamsSBMI  Před 4 lety

      According to HIMSS, Medical Informatics is the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management and planning.
      Another definition of Medical informatics is the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care. This field deals with the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and biomedicine.
      Health informatics
      The definition of health informatics or biomedical informatics is “the interdisciplinary, scientific field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision making, motivated by efforts to improve human health.”
      The two terms are closely related and often used interchangeably.
