@@prabhavathis6350 Well she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2011/2012 she had to do chemotherapy in 2013 and in 2017 she suffered from kidney failure and almost died but her friend Francia Raisa donated her kidney to Selena.
Also we have to count the bullying and hate, bodyshaming she deals with every single day (she got so many letters that says awful stuff like they want to kill her/cut her body into pieces/ dispose her body...).
She has depression and anxiety she used to have panic attacks before going on stage or after finishing the act while she was on tour (Revival Tour).
She was cheated by her ex so many times he broke her heart so many times.
Some people in the industry weren't so good to her.
Even her childhood wasn't that good in middle school she was bullied because she was on Barney and Friends, her parents divorced when she was so little and she lived in a small room with her mom and 6 other women they were so poor that they can't buy gaz for the car (once I heard that she had to sleep hungry so many nights because they can't get food).
Her life wasn't easy at all. Hopefully I didn't forget anything.

It's not just a kidney transplant you idiot. Do you know the disease she has is eventually going to kill her? I've seen others who have her disease go through it and it is extremely awful. Now try having that disease on top of stress, having no privacy, having to do your job, barely any breaks etc. And I'm pretty sure she dedicated her award to all the women out there struggling to find their voice. However, nothing is wrong with the others & no one should have to follow, because there are already many famous people who have spoken about an illness publicly. Such as; Lady GaGa, Robin Roberts, T-Boz, Demi Lovato, and the list goes on. I just commend the celebrities that do have the courage to do this because not only does it bring awareness to the illness, but it also shows they experience hardships as well.

I've always loved Selena since childhood. I watched her while growing up, and it brought joy and laughter to my life. Years and years later, I never payed attention to celebrities and also became a mom(busy af). But seeing her speeches and how shes not afraid to actually say how she feels, I love her even MORE! I named one of my daughters after Selena Quintanilla, but I am proud that the name Selena is also associated with her and how genuine she is. I never realized how amazing she was until now!

heres my two cents: as a kid with an autoimmune disease almost exactly like lupus, seeing a celebrity have it openly is so, so inspiring. obviously there are so many women that deserve this award, but this means a lot to me and a lot of other kids like me. WE CAN do whatever we want. she's up there, winning an award, and OUR IMMUNE SYSTEMS BOTH ATTACK US. ITS CRAZY and means so much to me that i can do it. i CAN be a youtuber, i CAN be a filmmaker, or whatever i want, and no amount of what i have is going to stop me.
so even though it means nothing to everyone else, it means the world to me. i feel so represented and a little less alone.
I have an autoimmune disorder too and Selena used to be my everything but she is working with a rapist and has not done much to deserve this award
