I actually hadn't heard about the break, or the fact people were cheering and celebrating it. Do people not know what a sentimental item is? Even if someone with millions of dollars was robbed I would feel sad and give them my sympathy as some items can't be replaced. Jesus christ. Being robbed doesn't just affect your money, a robbery is an invasion of privacy.
Edit: From reading some of the replies, I felt the need to add this. While yes, Pewds could buy better security systems, it still doesn't mean he would feel safe and happy then.
Even with the increased security, there's still things going on mentally, which can't go away with money. It feels crappy when someone just takes your things because they're YOUR things.
If your grandma gave you a gold necklace and it got robbed. If you were rich enough, you could buy a new necklace that looks exactly like the one your grandma gave you. But to you, the new necklace would have no value, other than what it cost to get the necklace (money wise).

The worst part about being robbed isn't even the actual things stolen. The worst part is having to live there while feeling unsafe because you know for a fact someone can just come in as they please. Most people feel a detachment hearing the news thinking that wouldn't happen to them when it very well could. Experiencing something that feels as 1 in a million as getting robbed can make you realize how every other crime can also happen to you and can make people live in paranoia for years to come.

The people who say “he has money he will be fine” have obviously never had anything stolen from them. The worst part about being robbed is not getting the stuff back,(insurance, investigation, etc) but feeling like you have been violated and not having those things for a while. It also gives a sense of fear that you aren’t really safe, which can really fuck you up just like it did to me.
AZRsplitz for me personally, the worst feeling about a robbery is knowing that the greedy, ungrateful miserable jealous thief, most likely gets away with it without no comeuppance.

Someone considered breaking into my flat but was scared off by my large raised dog bowls. They didn't even get into my house, they got into my garden, and looked through my back door window but thought better of smashing it. I still couldn't sleep properly for weeks. I won't stay in my flat alone without my large dog now. The psychological impact is so much worse than people who have never experienced a break in or trespassers can imagine.
Who ever said that is pretty much advocating for millionares building huge gated communities, huge barbed fences and hiring ton of security. I mean we could just try to live in an open society side by side but apparantly internet commies want fences.
Some months ago someone broke into my house and stole my brother's and I xbox and playstation, it felt very weird that night because it was the first time that I didn't fell safe in my own house

I know I’m late but when Epictetus had an iron lamp stolen from his window, he says this: “I lost my lamp, because in the matter of vigilance, the thief was a stronger man than I. But he bought his lamp for this price: for a lamp he became a thief, for a lamp he broke his faith, for a lamp he became a brute.” Just a lesson that anger is unreasonable. The thief gained some (in the end) useless material things but he did not understand he was losing his integrity.

Even though Felix is rich, to get robbed is scary on another level. The fear that you live in after getting robbed is constant because you’ve never experienced it until now and soon you become terrified.

One major part of etiquette is that when someone gives you advice, don’t mock them and try to make them look stupid.
That’s not forcing you to do anything, but if you want to conduct any proper conversation, that’s kind of important to keep in mind.

I was robbed once, and whilst the cops located most of the items at various pawnbrokers and returned them to me, the number one thing that stuck with me was the uneasy feeling. Knowing that an unknown person had violated my privacy and my safe space was more of the issue than the actual items that were taken. This happened 7 years ago and I STILL am very wary of security in my home, because I don't want to feel that sort of violation again.

I really enjoyed learning about Diogenes and how you have applied his teaching to your own life. You explained everything so well and it actually inspired me to start letting go of more stuff that is not needed. I would totally listen if you started a podcast. You have a great mind.
