Hey guys. It's about time for some street photography action. As you might know, I was on the Seychelles just recently and actually I didn't plan to shoot a new episode because I was really busy and I thought that there is not much going on to do a street photography session. I was wrong and on the last day I was able to film a video for you. I ran out of film but luckily I had my Leica Q with me and used that instead of my M6.
Hope you enjoy the episode! See you again soon!! 👌

That shot of the gentleman opening his window on the bus... is golden. Love that shot.
Thank you Carlos! Almost missed to film it. That's a downside of the GoPro it simply is that it takes at least two seconds to turn it on.
I really appreciate your generosity by sharing your work. It's very inspiring. Thank you. 👍
Some really lovely images. You captured some wonderful gestures.
Thank you very much! Love your show! ✌️😁
The making of a Lamy pen
The colors in your images are out of this world.
I'm smiling every time you show resulting picture. So good!
Thank you very much! 👍
I keep returning to this video. A lot of inspiration here. Thank you!
Brilliant episode! Some of those photos are really wonderful. Love the hand with the missing nails especially. Great proximity and attention to gestures and emotion.
Thank you very much! 😊
Amazing photos and moments. I . l like the way you take the photos

Please make some more of this vids. I love watching your walkthrough. Your shots are really good.
Thank you very much Bec! A new video will be up every Friday! ☺️
love that Summilux glass - such nice color, everything just "pops" with lots of contrast - great choice of subject matter as well -!!
It's great how you shoot. A great opportunity to travel with you and be a streetphotographer at your side. You always manage to get me looking for situations to capture. Nice to see your pictures while walking. Great pictures too, I like your style. Keep up !
Thank you very much! ☺️
Out of all your videos this is still my favorite!
Fantastic work, I love how you fill the frame and your use of colour. Great video editing also.
Thank you Michael! 👌
Always a pleasure to watch. I need to build up my confidence and my gut to approach people like you do. I enjoy the human interactive part of both your videos and photos. LA welcomes you.
Thank you! There is a good chance that I am coming to LA in the second half of September. ✌️
the_real_sir_robin i will keep an eye on your posts
Tolles Video, macht großen Spaß mit Dir durch die Straßen zu laufen und zu sehen, wie Du die Momente mit Deiner Kamera einfängst!
Dankeschön Pia! 😊
definitely one of your best videos to watch.
Thank you very much! ☺️
Agreed!
Best street shooting demo!
Nice to have you, and your videos, back!!
Thank you for video, as someone who wants to get into street photography it was really insightful to see how you go about it and your results 👍
Thank you very much! Glad it helps you to get into street photography. 🙂✌️
Robin, your video quality has improved to much since you first started posting these HIS videos. I'm very impressed. Your photos are great, as always. Cheers, Paul.
Thank you very much Paulie! 🙂
Great video again, you are a brave man :D. I like the combination of the desaturated vintage look and the excellent sharpness of the Q.
Thank you very much Pierre! ✌️
this is fantastic, both the video and the images. well done, a pleasure to watch
Thank you Josiah! 👊☺️
Wow... great shoots
Definitely one of your best video i watched. Awesome shots!!! Can you upload more video like this? It's very helpful and enjoyable. I like ur style.

Amazing fantastic photos
Nice work man.
Thanks for sharing.
Lovely shots!
Fantastic images!
Great pics. Nice to see the Q back in action.
Thank you Tom. Haven't featured it much on my channel lately but I am using it still a lot. 👍
Your movements are natural. You don't seem to be intrusive. You're capturing what you see and you make it look very natural. No one seems to mind. It's great. Beautiful images.
Great pictures!
love the edits. and of course the photos
Thanks Ben! 👍
wow, amazing video, i just watched a couple of your videos and I have to say there is potential in this chanel. lot of production, subscribed indeed, greetings from Argentina
Thank you so much! ☺️✌️
I really dig your editing style for your pictures, well done ! Also , could please make a video on how you edit your images and what programs you use , etc.... This would be a really interesting video, awesome thanks.
Thank you John! I use lightroom and have a couple of presets I created and that's basically it.
I also like very much your videos and was wondering about the editing. Are your using the embeded Leica profile or the Adobe standard/color?
another cool video! the quality of your youtube is always increasing :)
the Q looks like an amazing camera
Thank you very much. Always trying to improve. 😁
Lovely images...you really showed how to do street photography
Thank you! 😊
Lovely shots and edit as usual! I'm the one who suggested to add some more street ambient to your mix, and I have to say that I really think the streets come more to life in this edit! Great result with the chill music! Hopefully others will give their opinions aswell! Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you Chris! I remembered your comment and put it in. 😊👊
the_real_sir_robin I just hope you liked it too, so you're not feeling pressured to make something you don't like yourself! Because I just want more videos in the future;)
No worries, I wouldn't do stuff that I don't like. ✌️
Wery nice place, and footage of course..🤗
Thank you! 😊✌️
I don’t get it! How do you manage to get so close to people and get the camera up in their face when it seems like the prime time for them to look at you and get weirded out by it? I am very amazed to say the least, and the photographs were beautiful! You’re one of the street photographers I look up to Sir, keep the great content coming! :D
Thank you very much! ☺️ I did a video on how to get close to people that should help understanding this works. 👌
@@therealsirrobin Do you have a BTS of you shooting on the streets? Like how you hang the camera and how you bring up to their faces.
I have videos where I had someone filming me. One of the early ones shot in France and one Xpan video shot in Korea.
He's shooting from the hip. It helps when you get very close to people.
No, I am not and I can't stand hip shooting.
Amazing!
Really good video, Robin. Looks a vibrant and interesting town for street photography. I also have a Q and was struck by your cinematic filmlike edits. Any tips on your Lightroom process? By the way, I thought you got some excellent shots. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you Miles! I have a set of presets I created and use them to make editing quick and easy. 👌
the_real_sir_robin thx for sharing!
how does your presets Look like? Whats important to use with Leica dng?
great video and lovely shots as always sir! :)
Thank you very much Hanif! 👊
Great photos
Very good! (Learned I should use my Q more often)
Thanks Thomas! Yes, please do that! 😉👍
very nice video very well captured
Thank you! 👊
Man, you've got some really nice documentary style, I like it a lot. Do you use AF or manual focus? I don't know if Leica uses fly-by-wire manual focus, but with my Fuji it's a pain in the ass) anyway, thumbs up, keep the documentary goodness flowing&more of XPAN videos, pls!)
Thank you! I use AF and MF, depending on the situation. MF on the Q is a pleasure to use!
Dein bestes HIS Video, meiner Meinung nach.
Danke dir! 😊
Great photos.
Thank you.
Really great shots
Thank you Max! ☺️
This is beautiful. I'm gonna rewatch this and scroll through your channel when I have the time. May I just ask what lens are you using on your Leica Q? 35mm?
Great street photo
Fantástico video!!
Thank you Jose! 🙂
I really like this video
Increíbles imágenes.
Thank you Gerardo! ✌️
Great images, many thanks. I note you are varying the aperture, and it looks like you are largely shooting from the "chest" rather than up to your eye. Are you zone focusing or using auto focus? Your F1.7 shots are fantastic, I think I'd find it hard to take those, in focus, from the chest.
I love it
Those were really good images
Thank you very much!
brilliant video putting that video cam with the camera showing us how you shoot. i am a beginner at photography, and i love shooting street photography, specially portraits that people staring right into the lens. however, i can't get over that feeling of awkwardness when people look at me taking photo of them, advice how to avoid that?
Thank you! 😊 There is no reason for feeling awkwardness for taking candid photos of strangers out on the streets. Just do it and stop caring about what others might think! ✌️👍
Love music in your episods
super awesome video. i have the q myself and am loving it.
are you taking these photoes from the chest level? without looking at the evf or the monitor?
with the editing, it looks like you're taking it blind haha but the pics... are so amazing so that can't be right ;p
Thank you very much! I always carry the camera around my neck and never shoot from the hip. I have a video on that topic, check it out
You always shoot street at f1.7 with the Q ? Were all the photos taken with your eye to the EVF, or were you using live view focus and release sometimes ?
Looking tan there buddy! Haha. Great video and fantastic shots. Did you bring the camera up to your eye for these or are they from the hip?
Thank you Michael! I was using the screen. ✌🏾
Not sure if you take requests but I'm going to try my luck anyway :D
Can we see a night photography on a saturated film like ektar. Maybe something that has the colours of Ektar and more speed.
And thanks for this video Robin. Just like the other ones, this too was highly enjoyable and informative
Thanks for your input Adi! There are not many options when it comes to high sensitivity films. However, there will be more episodes shot at night coming in the not so distant future. 👌☺️
My notification are on. Cheers mate
Great video!
Thank you Asad! 😊
Awesome images! Do you take images from the hip as well during such walks?
Thank you! 👊 No, I don't shoot from the hip!
You are amazing photographer !
Thank you Emmanuel! 👍
When do you come in France ? my street "archi" style here mariageimage.com/villette/ . or with cinestill 800T facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10156311035123057&id=627008056
No plans yet, but will probably go there at some point this year. 👍
Cool... happy if i can meet you for coffee talk or street walk :-) you can find my contact on google :-)
Großartige Aufnahmen, mich würde interessieren ob Du durch den Sucher schaust oder ob Du mit dem Touch Screen fokussierst.
So many pearls! Very good. But hey, what do you do/say when someone says "No, no, no, no! No picture"? :-) You are very courageous in you great approach method :-)
Thank you Ricardo! I'll do a video on that. ✌️
+the_real_sir_robin lol what a good (instructive and funny) idea that it will be. I'll be waiting for that ;-)
Can you tell mecwhat focus made you used forv this video? Single or continuous? Face focus or some other
I'm so glad I found your channel. You're so talented! Where are you holding your camera with most of these candids??
Thank you! 👍What do mean where am I holding the camera?
lol, I'm so embarrassed. It seems as though in many of the shots, you may be holding the camera at chest level (in some sort of super stealth mode). Are you looking through the viewfinder (lets say with your Leica M6) on most or all of your shots?!? I'm so inspired by your videos. You're so good!.... Is the Q still your favorite Digital at the moment?
Haha, instead of getting the camera up I just bring my head down to the camera. 😁 The Q is still my favorite digital camera! 👍👍
Thanks for sharing. Do you use the Leica phone app when you are doing street photography? If yes, how’s your experience?
No, never use the app.
Very cool walk .. I like it :) These nails were very long :)))
Hehe, thank you! Not very practical to have nails like him. 😂
:)) there were a few pieces missing :))
😂
Fantastic pictures sir, question: wich lens you use for this serie?
Great street shots! Do you use manual setting on your Q when walking around? Autofocus, I believe, since you shoot on f/1.7 ;-)
Yes, in this case I used autofocus. 😁
Thank you sir robin ;-) Looks like the AF works fine on the Q then. Considering to get a used Q for street photography myself... Normally I zone focus with the Ricoh GR or Fuji x-e3. Would be nice to have an AF that actually works for fast street photography... Take care.
Get one and you won't be disappointed! 👍☺️
great... you have a good eye !
Thank you Gabriel! 👍
Totally in love
Are you taking these shots mostly through live view rather than the evf?
do you suggest this camera? a cheaper alternative does exist?
are you looking through the viewfinder? or are you shooting from the hip?
Like your photos, unfortunatly i am not brave enough to shoot street photography. :(
Djavo23387 I wonderd too. When watching this and seeing Robin coming so close to peoples faces, I feel a great tension.
I'm also not brave enough.
The other day I finally had the courage to snap a picture, and this woman started to yell at me, that I had to delete the photo. Offcours I couldn't cause I shot analog :) but this experience certainly didnt help me get braver.
@Tom Polkamp i tried it too. it´s sometimes frustating to see all the possible motives passing by.
May i ask you what camera you use. I am taking my olympus 35 rc (a nice little range finder) with me, when i "attempt" to shoot street photography.
concerning robins pictures: i noticed that all pictures taken are on chest height (or Robin is really small :) ).
so i just wantetd to know if he is zone focusing and taking a snap without framing or composing the image.
Not a film camera I always look through the viewfinder. In this case I simply used the rear screen. It is less obtrusive and quicker than using the vf.
I prefer not shooting from eye level and always use the viewfinder or in this case the rear screen.
Are you bringing the camera up to your eye when you take the photo? Can’t tell, that’s the moment that is tough for me since it makes it so obvious I’m taking a picture if I’m at close to Them!
I can recommend watching my video about shooting from the hip! 👌
best Leica Q video so far ! Are those images edited or RAW? what is your setting?
Thanks Hendrik! ✌️Of course they are edited.
i keep seeing people do this go pro to video, does the go pro have that long of a battery life and memory to video constantly while you take photos like that?
The trick is to turn it off when nothing is going on. 👌
@@therealsirrobin yeah i guess so, turn it on/record ahead of time when you know that you are gonna shoot some people. whats crazy to me is how seamless it all looks , just to have the fore sight to record then shoot. at least to me is pretty cool.
That's the magic of editing. 🤗
Great video again Robin. Where do you get your music from?
Thanks Charles! The music is from epidemic sound. 👍
the_real_sir_robin thanks for the reply man!
dream camera
Yes, it is! 🙂
i wish😢😞
Du machst gute Bilder🏆
Danke dir Klaus!
Very Nice
finally someone who knows how to use it
how do you set your camera? all auto? except F-stop?
Are you using mechanical shutter or digital only?
Up to 1/2000 mechanical for sure.
How often do you use the “hip shooting” technique?
How often? Never! 😳
Love the skin tone
What apps/software u sed for editing ?
Agent 008 on the streets :-D
Finally! \o/
😁
Well fucking done, man. I was expecting some shitty Leica owner cliche street images but the quality of your work blew my mind. Subscribed!
Thank you very much Juan! 😊
