I don't understand how it has become acceptable that there's the likely chance that a new caravan will have warranty issues. If I performed like this when I was working, I would have been sacked. The QC at these places has got to improve. Thanks for the video and sharing how it has been for you.
The moment the van is paid for that’s when the service ends, there is little to no recourse as they have long wait times and queues so they just move on to the next customer
Agree with your sentiments, but, most suppliers are having quality control issues, they are getting smashed with so many extra orders and just don't have the workers so are struggling to cope with demand, hence the wait times and constant problems..
Jayco recently said they have over 28% higher order loading and have been 5 - 8% down on staffing plus, the newer employees do not have the experience to keep the quality of workmanship up to scratch.
@@graememellor8319 It's been a difficult time but I don't believe it's a reasonable excuse. We live inland and had to make three 800 km round trips just to get the washing machine properly secured to the floor plus issues with ill fitting draws and cupboards.

Don’t be concerned about making the content Hollywood production ,for my wife and I it’s about seeing your family out and about enjoying what’s on offer in Australia the ups and downs in life on the road travelling,I think it’s shocking that they hand over a van costing a bomb without checking everything aspect before doing so it’s as much the dealers fault as the builder but the dealer gets paid to flog the van and ensure everything is working we had the same experience and sorry dose not cut it ,anyway loved the content cheers to you all ,my wife and I are getting old now still love getting away in our hybrid but much easier watching your show xx

OMG I could totally bore you with all of our warranty issues. Back to dealer 6 times in 12mths and used van 6 times.🤦🏼♀️ incredibly disappointing and very very annoying. Hot water system broke down just recently so add that to new awning, realignment of cupboards, fixing fly screens, new drop down table cos original very crooked, re-silicone bathroom area, re-plumbing as water tanks not working….leaking pipes everywhere. Holy hell. I want to get another van but this one has now been fixed I’m not sure I’ve got the energy to do it all again with a new van. I hear your pain and everyone else’s too😫

Oh gosh that’s terrible, I feel for you! Totally get where you’re coming from, I would be hesitant to buy another van now you’ve made so many repairs! Just reading the comments on this video, the issues are so widespread across so many brands 😔

Don’t let the small things stress ya out to much, it’s disappointing but par for course. I couldn’t care less about the family noise while ya making a clip, it’s the fact that your a family man that makes me want to come with you on your adventures, it brings back great memories of the good and not so great times that make up a life. I wouldn’t call that amount of water leaking “a small thing” as it has the potential for further issues down the track and for me if the company can miss something as big as that what else have they missed. It’s obvious the water system was not tested.

No worries Chris. We’ve had a lot of feedback from owners of many brands (including many I thought were premium end) that have similar issues. So I honestly don’t know what I’d do if I was in the market again.. vans are so expensive at the moment, and I don’t think they’re good value for money.
So nice to see Tiff back camping with the kids (who are so gorgeous). We have an entirely Australian built Rhinomax Renegade and have been very impressed by the build quality. Only issues have been third party items (induction hot plate and alloy wheel) which were quickly replaced under warranty. We love that so much thought has been put into build and design. Hope everything gets sorted in your Willow!

Had to watch this one twice because we were too distracted by the cuteness of Chloe and Brodie! Absolutely gorgeous. Disappointed for you guys on the warranty issues but love your raw honesty about the van hiccups and the emotion that creates. As we await our own van build (early 2023) your shakedown trip prepares us for the potential issues we will be on the look out for. So looking forward to your trip north!

Having issues like that when you've spent so much really can take the shine off... we had a similar experience with our new camper trailer, even the brakes only worked on one side.
You can get red locking clips for the John Guest plumbing fittings your van has that stop the fittings coming loose in transit. They're a couple of dollars and save so much pain, we had massive issues before we fitted them and none since.

It's a lot of money to spend only to take it back and book it in, this takes time away from travel.
Yeah I think we’ll eventually get starlink just don’t really need it until we are travelling longer term in the van.
Looking forward to your Diesel Heater video, as our new van is due in a couple of weeks. We weren't going to pay the 'stealer' to supply and install a heater.
As others have said, don't stress about the family noises, as a father of 3 (boys) there's never a quiet enough moment for anything, let alone filming 🤣

Me being at the other end of the life span I really miss the times when young and of all the camping and travel adventures done as a family.
I commend you for holding back on bad comments about your van problems. Let's see if the manufacturer does the right thing. You have paid big money and the van should be " fit for purpose". Maybe it will be a wake up call for Willow as people like myself will start to avoid them In new van purchases. Keep up the good work.
Hey guys long time watching first time commenting. I use a topargee water flow meter uses an app and can set the amount you start with and if installed before any outlets will count down anytime water is used. Have great travels. We are heading up north to nambung country music festival in late october.
Thanks for sharing another really good video. We see it time and time again the caravan manufacturers have no QA systems, even the ones that claim they do are bloody hopeless. Bad news travels fast, it was good though you pointed out the good bits. We are getting a compressor fridge and I'm now a little concerned about battery capacity when off grid. I think the 24VDC system is a good idea. I need to go back and watch your power system vid again to see how they are stepping it down for 12VDC systems in the van, V=IR and that won't change but exactly how they do it may.

Hi Cam nice to see you and fam. One suggestion before the trip just put a light outside at night and check all around for any penetration not sealed. Our Jayco needed a heap of sealant. No big issue as I figured we were paying about $10k less than another manufacturer. It certainly wasn't in the $ range of the Boab.

Yurp even our elross had small issues, but that water leak was terrible.

Hi guys your not alone with faults on a Caravan, we have had ours for only 4 months and there has been a quiet a few silly problems. and the rest of the caravan family suffer the same, And it doesn't matter how much you pay for it. Oh on your water lines I believe there should be an internal sleeve that goes inside the tubing. have only just found out that and are about to check our Van. But going by the little Lady face after a day or so of worry, its good to get away in your new Van. Good Luck on the next journey with the whole family in tow. Cheers..

Have there been a host of issues with these vans Cam? It is not clear to me what your precise issues were so it is difficult for me to determine just how worried I should be. I do know you had a big water leak. I have a BOAB on order, and from following a number of sites it appears rare for a caravan, (expensive or not) to be entirely issue free. At this stage I could possibly cancel my BOAB order but I'm not sure I'd be better off with any other brand. I have no loyalty to Willow but I do like the way they construct their vans and we want a full composite van. We're upgrading from a camper van, but being in our mid 60's we don't really want to wait a few years until the industry sorts itself out. This van is a big outlay for us and I'm really grateful for the information you're providing, and would appreciate more detail on what you eventually get fixed under warranty.

Totally understand your disappointment having issues with a new van. Seem to be the norm these days. We’ve had an issue with a leak. In the roof from when we bought it a year ago….we can’t even get a repairer to look at the van. As soon as we mention it is a Warranty issue they don’t want to know. The dealership say we have to deal with the manufacturer and the manufacturer tell us it up to us to find a repairer that will deal directly with them. We ended up paying to have the roof resealed ourself otherwise if we get an early Wet like forecast we will have more damage to the ceiling and lights.
That’s really frustrating Peter. I’d have thought whoever you paid for the van (dealer) would be responsible for warranty work. And then it’s up to the dealer to cover the bill through manufacturer ect…
Either way, it’s a headache you don’t need!

Worth having a look at Starlink we have had it for over 12 months now we LOVE it it can be great for camping and at home its not cheap but it sure is worth every penny .

One thing to not do, and you’ll say, why would you, is lock the window extender arm things when the front window is closed for traveling. I did and the tiny bit of flex in any van on such a large window puts stress on the bracket where the arm meets the Perspex, resulting in window breaks around the bracket.
Hey Cam your video with the family is one of the best to date. Sorry to hear of your disappointment but this is across the board and the RV industry needs a kick in the ars and you will make the van the quality it should be. 👍

Tiff I hear you and totally understand your anger.Our new $56000 Mobi van purchased from Rockingham RV had so many issues. Including the wall covering coming off in the en-suite when it rained. It started with being able to see through the the fiberglass pod, gaps between the pod and van and having to have en-suited sites because the toilet did not work. It was so hard to deal with the dealer we finally sold the van on consignment and have purchased a secondhand Jaco. If you have problems Contact the ACCC they have been investigating the Caravan Industry due to these type of issues. We also contacted Consumer affairs and as a last resort we used a lawyer and funny thing the day the layers letter arrived the van sold.
That’s a shame 😔 hope the new van is much less troublesome for you! 🙂
Yeah guys ,it is incredible how so called "tradesmen" have trouble getting a tap to work, or a light to glow in an oversized esky on wheels ! The electrical work in my van from new I have upgraded to suitable sizing and fusing arrangement, which would have cost a bomb if I wasnt able to do it all myself....Its not that hard for them to get it right.....or maybe it is !!

Happy to see you guys were able to get away in the new van. Disappointed to hear about the issues. Re grinding coffee in the manual coffee grinder, some people take the handle off and connect an electric drill to save arm power :) .

I do hope you contact the factory management with your complete list of your issues. I have just looked at their website and can see how you would have had confidence in them being 100% Australia. They really do need to up their game on the QC side though as their is no excuse for a major issue like you have had. Failure by the manufacturer and failure of the dealer to check and test your van prior to pick up. I really hope you manage to to sort everything out and have many safe travels in it. Stay happy, enjoy and it can only get better😊.

Sorted the water monitoring with a topargee monitor, works reallly well- will show it in a video coming up (as well as the towel hooks we’ve used).

Beautiful place, pity I didn’t know about it while living in the Mandurah area.
I believe running the appliances from 12v is more efficient than running them on 230v via the inverter, eg Fridge, chargers, laptop.
Great episode, love all your eps but so good seeing Tiff and the kids again. Loved Chloe’s comment that it’s more important to be pretty than cosy 🤣🤣 how’s the keto diet going cam? I’ve been keto since Jan, lost 22kgs, I’m still going but do allow myself the odd carby meal here and there now. We are loving the new van too. 😊

How shocking is it that we must resign ourselves that a 100K+ purchase will have issues AND you had to fix some yourself! Looks like someone forgot the quality control before the handover. I know that it's all covered by a warranty but it's not the point. Thanks for telling it like it is 👏🏻

Yeah I’m sure you’re right. I don’t think customers (across all caravan brands) are getting good value for their money in this market.
We are all having problems with our brand new caravan that’s cost as much as a house!!!
It’s because these companies SLAP the vans together
Pipe are too thin, & tightly bent, our pump runs when not being used stress😮
We took our van out & gave it to warranty with 25 problems
Lounge padding fell off
Toilet seat came off
Fridge leaking broken
Hinges hanging off
Screws installed from inside going out through the external skin
Shower seal too tightly fitted
On & on & on!
Thye have fixed them but getting my hubby out of work & me out of work, hitching up at storage unit, towing our van to dealer, getting it fixed, & then more stuff breaks or goes wrong
That’s so frustrating. And you have such a short warranty period to find all these faults and get them rectified!
Cam that’s a smart move to test for functionality before the big treks - sorry for Kylie’s upset and yours Cam - it’s a shame that warranty is seen as a ‘get out of jail free card’ for companies despite their claims for integrity especially when they’re asking for many $’s - I worked in the domestic Avionics industry in VIC where ‘military spec’ quality assurance was not negotiable - you don’t want aircraft falling with lives lost in the aircraft or on those on the ground - your persistence will eventually reward you - all the best for new horizons 👀🌈

Its a sad state of affairs when so many young people Dont receive the appriate training and get thrown into building stuff , im a tradesman for 50 yrs and talented lads that show initiative are few , its a bloody headache for business owners , boss runs around dealing with issues and the young fellows are looking forward to getting shitfaced instead of being proud at the end of the day with what they have created as we did and i do , glad they got onto your problems asap , great vids keep up the good work Cheers, Dave.

Didn’t need any heating it was already too warm in the van 😂 have just been north and the AC has had a good workout. Battery system is working awesome 👍🏼
We bought a brand new jayco RM 19 and we’re shocked to find lots of rust spots on the roof. The result of metal shavings being left there after putting in the air con (which now needs warranty work). Jayco have now sorted the roof out. But should not have happened. We will add a video about it to our channel vantripinoz.

It is a shame that dealers don’t do quality assurance predelivery to reduce customer warranty issues and adverse reputation. More often retailers are happy to take your money, make you wait months/years for delivery and then drop the ball on QA.
It’s certainly not a buyers market unfortunately. Anyway, we’ll get it all sorted!

Don’t be disheartened owning a caravan of any brand regardless of being new you’ll always have to fix or adjust something I’ve had fittings break on water tanks to hoses leaking and you have to be able to fix it just remember to set up a repair kit with bits and pieces
Yeah absolutely that’s what I’m hearing. I’ll have to get some spare parts to travel with.
How can you not be disheartened though, you spend a lot of hard earned money and would expect a high level quality of in the build and thorough testing is completed before handover. These common issues should be the exception, not the rule.
I used to eat my Happy Meal in that plane when I was a young fella when it was sat at Midland McDonalds. Very cool old plane. Piss poor about those issues like the plumbing - a reflection of how stressed and under the pump the industry is perhaps. Too rushed.

No need for apologies on the content Cam, what you guys post is real life, not staged rubbish. With the water level monitoring, have a look at a Topargee, simple unit that measures litres in, litres out. Keep up the good work 👍

Cannot believe these new vans that are so expensive have basic issues that should have been tested and rectified before leaving the factory. If it was a car they would be out of business. Quality control in caravan manufacturing should be mandatory. But I read reviews and people seem to accept that every van has problems. It’s actually unacceptable. Thanks for the video and your honesty. The solar system works cause you got it installed from people that care .
Totally agree with you. A new caravan should be finished to the same standard a new car is.
