- In this video I take a closer look at the newest albums from U.D.O. & Primal Fear, traditional metal at it’s finest! Touchdown is U.D.O.’s 18th studio, it also sees ex-Accept Peter Baltes join the band. Code Red is Primal Fear’s 14th studio album, see both bands on tour together in 2024. Thanks as always for hanging out with me 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy

I love these two albums. They would be the two top contenders for album of the year if it wasn't for the The Sinner Rides Again and The Dark Tower by Burning Witches.
I enjoy the new UDO and Accept albums and all, but I always think how great current Accept would be if Udo, Wolf and Peter were all 3 in Accept and writing together. Primal Fear as always put out consistent great pure metal.
Two bands you've dug deep into and I've only really scratched the surface of. Not albums I can get excited about but love to hear your enthusiasm for them, never change Darcy! You do a good job of these reviews and I agree it's ridiculous when people do them seconds after the release day.
Thanks very much Andy 🤘 Don’t worry I won’t change, a little extra passion trumps generic bullshit every time!
Great review.... I was a little late on the Primal Fear-Train, but anyway: great Band, and the new Album is awesome... And for our beloved Udo: no words needed - he (and his band-mates) always deliver!
Good show mate. Metal is deffo in good health. Seeing more patched up battle Jackets around these days!. Ya always keep on top of new releases 👍
Great job Darcy! I'm a big fan of both bands and i loved both albums!
Touchdown favorite tracks: Touchdown, Isolation Man, The Double Dealer's Club, Living Hell, Better Start To Run.
Code Red favorite tracks: Steelmelter, Another Hero, Deep In The Night, Fearless, Raged By Pain.
Thank you very much 🤘 Great list, both albums are so catchy, the title track Touchdown plays in my head constantly lol.
Great review from a true fan, thanks Darcy. I cross my fingers for you that they may come close to you for a possible concert. I have my ticket for Hamburg in Feb and I am looking forward to see these two German Metal Icons on stage, one after another. Stay true and heavy.
Thank for the kind words & I definitely appreciate the fingers crossed 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Hi Darcy!! very cool and well done double review from two excellent teutonic bands..... I agree with you about the cheesy album tittle and artwork of U.D.O's, it seems like he's trying to much, lol. Anyhow good stuff as always and glad to see him working now with Peter Baltes, hope to see him adding more former Accept members. Now i have a lot of homework to do with both bands, they have a massive catalogue and i'm kind of late to the party . cheers and be well
Great reviews buddy, I haven’t listened to any Primal Fear yet but Touchdown is excellent, I have listened to that about a dozen times. That’s my first U.D.O. album, I will definitely be checking out more of their discography.
Your first of many U.D.O. albums haha! You’ll like the Primal Fear too, they’re right up your metal alley. Thanks as always my friend 🤘
Both are great albums and IMO definitely a step up from their previous albums.
Its funny, I didn't realize Punchline was about Wolf...but it makes total sense.
Cheers Darcy!!!
Yeah your not going to see a classic era Accept reunion anytime soon lol. I’m pretty sure Herman Frank Ballhog Zone is a shot too! Wolf is still one of my all time favourite guitar players, such a distinct tone. Glad to hear your enjoying those albums 🤘 Cheers Mr.D
another great review, both these albums are awesome. I had a listen to the new KK's Priest album yesterday can't wait for your review :)
Thanks very much, I’m happy to hear your enjoying the new albums from two German legends! My copy of the new KK’s Priest is on the way, can’t wait! Thanks as always for hanging out with me 🤘 See you soon ~ Darcy
Excellent reviews Darcy! Definitely in depth and the honesty for both albums! Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks as always G 🤘
Good review of both albums there Darcy. I haven't really heard anyone else talk much about these albums so it's good to get some insight into them. I'll check them out and eventually get around to picking them up. I've been pretty bad at keeping up with new releases this year. Good comparison with the cheese cake, I know exactly what you mean with that.
Mmmmmm cheesecake haha! You won’t be disappointed with either album, especially with U.D.O., much stronger than 2021’s Game Over. Cheers Grant 🤘
I gotta hear that U.D.O. album. I SO need to get the new K.K's Priest album "The Sinner Rides Again". But back to the subject at hand, I just love Udo's voice. So unique and amazing. Mmmmm........Cheesecake.....😊
Primal Fear,.....i like it better then the last 2 ....playing it all week !!
Especially Apocalypse, it had a few good tracks, but overall it was a bit of a let down for me! Metal Commando strong, Code Red stronger, even Ralph’s arms are bigger lol. Thanks for watching 💪 Cheers from Canada
Great review! I went back and listened to Deep in the Night and YES, I hear it too! I never noticed it before. Code Red is their best since Rulebreaker to me.
I totally agree Bill, best since Rulebreaker! Sorry that I had to bring that “squeak” to your attention, now you can never un-hear it 😬 Take care ~ Darcy
I just listened to it on youtube and yes that squeak is also there. On all audio of this album. It’s like an electronic beep or some sort of distortion maybe. I agree, I think its a mistake that wasn’t picked up in the production of the album.
Sehr symphatisches und ehrliches Review. Viele Grüße aus Germany. 🇩🇪🤘
Thank you! Greetings from Canada 🤘
Another good video Darcy thanks. U have a nice calm way of presenting. Udo seems like a cool guy, like that biker uncle or something.
That’s me Mr.Laidback lol. I think Udo just loves what he does, I’d love to meet him! Thanks for the kind words Marty 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 👍👍👍
Nice job Darcy.
Thanks very much Charles 🤘
Hi Darcy! There is a newer Mat Sinner interview on youtube on the podcast of Antenne Bayern. It is only in german. He tells why he nearly died. He got the vaccine two years ago and it destroyed his life. He was two years in the hospital and had to learn everything new. It is a wonder he is still alive. Maybe the reason for the harsh lyrics. Now he is Ok but it is still a lot of work to do. Primal Fear have a replacement bass player for the tour. U.D.O will play here near my house next week at the KIT Rising festival. Very good line up. In my ears Udos voice sounds a little tired on the album.
That’s just unbelievable, Mat is one tough customer, I hope he’ll be ok long term! I think Udo still sounds great, he still doesn’t do any warmups lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Thomas
I really enjoyed the Primal Fear album. I liked the cancer culture song on there. Cheers buddy.
Both records are totally awesome. Udo totally Killer it, primal fear as Always killen IT. Pretty Hypes to See them next year in march
I hope they make it to Canada! Thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Nice review, both are top 5 contenders of the album of the year! Can they surpass the new Overkill album? They tour europe together next year.
Oh boy, I don’t know lol. You’re gonna have to wait to find out 🤘 Cheers my friend
Hi
You should get Accept -"Staying A Life" 1985 live on vinyl. Its killer album !
I’ve had it since the day it came out, one of my favourite live albums of all time! It’s made several appearances in my videos over the years. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
I went to that 2:41 mark on Deep In The Night, and yep, sure enough, there's a squeak! Hahaha...now I'll never un-hear it! 😂
I’m sorry man! I didn’t want to be the only one to never be able to un-hear it 😂 Gotta be mistake I say!
Still need to pick these up, anything UDO is great imo, as for Primal Fear didn’t care much for the song ‘Cancel Culture’ but will definitely pick it up eventually, too much stuff being released right now (it’s expensive lol), samey albums I love lol, cool video buddy
This is off topic but the rolling Stones is a band i never really cared for but i really love their new song, its so catchy and mick sounds great, its my favorite stones song.
I’ve never really been a big Rolling Stones fan, but I totally respect what they’ve done! I hope I can still do things that I love to do when I’m 80 years old 🤞 Cheers Marty
Enjoy the deeper dive into the new albums. Love the cheesecake analogy. I picked up the new UDO but haven’t had a chance to spin it yet. I must admit, I fall into the camp of all the Primal Fear albums sounding all too similar. Not sure it’s fair on my part because so many bands do the same. For whatever reason, it’s a point of contention for me and Primal Fear.
Next time I fly out east for some Blue Jays baseball you can take me record shopping and most importantly cheesecake shopping 😂 Cheers B
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 For sure and hopefully catch a show if we’re lucky.
Awesome review Darcy. Two superb albums. Both will definitely be in my top 5 of 2023. Metal Church is in there as well! Planning on revisiting the entire U.D.O catalogue starting tomorrow 🤘. Oh, I did order the new KK'S Priest today. Now the wait!
Give me a couple months & I’ll update my U.D.O. albums ranking, so many great albums! My KK’s is on the way! Thanks as always Speedy 🤘
Can't wait for the new ranking!
Primal Fear's Code Red is a amazingly badass album. You can always expect straight up heavy metal from Primal Fear. Another flawless album in their discography.
Another solid album by U.D.O. you pretty much know what you are going to get with a new U.D.O. release and the same with Primal Fear. Primal Fear usually always puts out solid material. I still need to pick up the new Primal Fear! Great review Darcy! 🤘🤘
Both very consistent bands, both with a awesome fan base all over the world! You better pick them both up haha! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Ben
I am loving the primal fear record. Just so damn catchy, great production. And Ralph isn’t human, lol.. he sounds killler on here. There so consistent so impossible to know where it sits in there discography, but it’s great. I’m not familiar with UDO, but sounds like there both great. Enjoy brother. Stay heavy 🤟🤟
You’re right Ralph isn’t human, just look at those arms 💪 We’re not here to talk, we’re here to pump you up 😂
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I would not mess with him that’s for sure lolol
Cheese is good. In taste. Probably not healthy. Still, I crave for some! \,,/ Great bands. And not giving in in speed...
I'm feeling like Touchdown is better than the last few U D.O. albums. Primal Fear, well... Code Red is typical PF. You know what your getting with them. Both quality metal albums.
I agree with you there! It’s too early to tell but I think it’s just as good or better than the last two albums before Stefan left, Dominator & Rev-Raptor. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
The new primal fear cd is great. Udoi didn't listen to it yet. Like new Vandenberg cd
If you like the new Primal Fear I think you would really like the new U.D.O. Yes the new Vandenberg is very solid! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers Richard
This video shows how much Germany 🇩🇪 rocks.
You got they right! Always good to here from you Tim 🤘 Go Brewers … I mean Blue Jays haha
Great bands from Germany been listening to a lot of eloy lately 👌
Hey, what do we Germans know about cheesy Metal lyrics? I don´t know what you´re talking about, hahahaha.... I really liked U.D.O.´s last album andI will sure get a copy of "Touchdown". I´m not so sure about the Primal Fear album. I´ll probably buy a copy when they come down in price.
I never understood why bands left behind the good old tradition of albums being 35 to 45 minutes long, 8 to 10 tracks, bang, done, hahaha.... I miss those days!
I though Game Over had some great songs but overall not their best, so if you enjoyed that one you’ll love Touchdown. Heavier, more focused & better song writing all around … oh yeah can’t forget the superb bass playing & backing vocals from Peter Baltes. You can’t beat a nice slice of German cheese haha 🤘 Cheers Jürgen
You fly in the face of Alan's "Saturated by the 7th album" theory. I like that Peters singing on the first two Accept albums. Look at me trying to get involved 😂. I love them album but I don't think I've heard anything by UDO or not that I remember. A love of Primal Fear and Judas Priest is your favourite band. Incredible stamina.
I’m going give you a E for effort here 😂 I’m glad you took to those first Accept albums, not my favourites but they are good! Saturated? Nah not for this guy … I won’t fly anywhere I don’t want to go 🤘 Cheers mate
I like UDO as a band but their album art is typically shit. A few of them are ok but the majority of their album art is garbage. PF on the other hand typically has pretty good artwork. Metal Commando was meh but typically they're good.
Haha yeah they’ve had a few super cheesy album covers alright! Thanks for watching 🤘 Greetings from Canada
