About 30% of surfers pop up to their feet with their front foot first. This is not necessary bad, but some common mistakes to avoid with this would be to keep your hands down on the surfboard for longer and only take them off once both feet are flat on the board. So you can use this technique, just don't go to your knees and don't take your hands off the board too soon.
