He started to detached himself from Dany after he finds out abt his parentage. It feels like he was disgusted by the idea of being in relationship with his aunt. Meanwhile Daenerys was raised by Targaryen tradition with the idea of marrying Viserys. So I believe he truly loved her but he loved his Stark family even more bcs they were raised together as a Stark. He would choose to save Arya over Daenerys bcs he already betrayed Ygritte over Bran
