Somewhere on Earth - Jamaica: • Amazing Quest: Stories...
Fiji: an archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean. Of its more than 300 islands, only about 100 are inhabited.
First we meet Manasa Bulivou, from Benga. In the shelter of the barrier reef , Manasa goes diving with his son Tumbi to feed their guardian angels: the Shark Gods.
Then we meet Hannah Bennett. She is a surfing champion. Her quest will take her all the way to Cloudbreak, one of the most beautiful waves in the world.
Finally we meet Franck Boivert, a rugby coach. He combs the villages of the outlying islands hoping to discover the rare gem of Fijian rugby.

I have to admit I love this series because it goes beyond the usual cliches we have about some places. Fiji we know because of the paradisal beaches and sea. Hey, nothing wrong with that. I’ll take it any day but The Amazing Quest series helps us understand these places as places and not as vacation spots. I think that’s amazing. Enjoy!

This documentary left me in awe! With how much love Fijian for their country, culture and people. I when the rugby coach said that the motivation of playing is happiness and that winning will go follow. The young lady surfer was also a great that she never forget her roots. And that after a long day of surfing they just fish by the sea and have bonfire and grilled fish thereafter. Manasa also was a great leader keeping his people live together in harmony with nature. This is what we need our young generation to watch. We need more of these documentaries.

man i remember being in my early teens when my dad took me to the beach to see the Uto Ni Yalo (i live in LA) being so young i couldn't even fathom the distance they traveled and the journey they had to embark on to make it to California. im 28 now and just got back from my second trip to Fiji. Im barely diving into the culture after all these years of being distracted by everything in the states. I love being Fijian. Such a beautiful culture.

The footage in this documentary shows the rural/outer islands side of Fiji but in the cities and towns there's alot of unnecessary blaring of vehicles, and buildings all over the place.

You should also film the highlands, the outer islands of vanua levu, lau & Kadavu. Breath taking scenes there, amazing stories, conservative and sustainable ways of living still practiced.

As a west Papuan we welcome you, however you probably would not find the 'raw' experience like in other Pacific Islands.
In Fiji, you interact with the locals. It's not the case in Papua. The non Papuans are most likely to introduce us to you.
