  • We featured how to correctly install a soft top in two videos over two years ago on @The Sunbeam Alpine Channel .
Since then we have come across a number of instances where soft tops have been fitted incorrectly, usually by people who have little experience of Alpine tops. This video concentrates on the typical errors and is intended to help people avoid suffering the same fate on their own cars.
If you are fitting (or having fitted) a new soft top, please watch the original videos. It might save you a lot of money and aggravation.

Thank you for your past videos and this new one. If I had not watched (many times) I would have installed my new top exactly like the one I took off and repeated every one of the errors you describe. The previous installer also threw away the "extra" trim pieces so I wouldn't have known why it couldn't be fitted. I installed the top by myself but I don't recommend it. Get a helper! I'm almost 80 so my fingers don't always cooperate so I used snaps similar to the ones Lotus uses instead of the lift-a-dot and snap fasteners. They are much easier to install and use. Is there a way to send you pictures?
