For lid issue he told to change entire set which cost me 9-12 k as he suggested
Then I went nearby repair shop and done it around 2k
Similar issues happened to me also in Ford service center. Appreciated Mr. Kashirajan's efforts to bring out to the public.
First of all corporate OEMs should stop giving monthly targets to achieve financially only in service department. Then only this kind of activities will be reduced. Due to sales target of spares and to get good revenue, ok parts are also got changed and the bills are raised. But the original factory fitted spares will be the original than the products in service centres also.

I'm an electrical engineer in kia motors plant penukonda ananthapur district, I'm the incharge for this station assembly section wiring harness, one car having 9 wiring harness, Total value of the full wiring harnesses price domestic model 26k maximum price 36k for export... showroom very worst once we go to give the service for small problem they all billing 10k minimum

Actually there are lot of miscommunication between dealer and customer. The dealer can give two options either replace or repair. Apart from the issue, the safety will be a priority which dealer quoted more.

i also faced same issue but it was in bike . SUGUNA MOTORS in coimbatore. but i did not do any complaint in police.
Actually KIA motors gave tha estimation of full wiring kit... But it's repairble... Due to customers safety they provided full wiring kit amount... That's what happened...

I had a very bad personnel experience. Rat spoiled the whole wiring harness. I tried to start the car multiple times and this short circuited sensors like ABS, wheel speed sensor, o2 sensor, etc. Then they had to change the whole wiring harness, some sensors. This really took a lot of time and money.

Same thing happened with me in Mahindra showroom guindy. I took my xuv500 to them, without proper knowledge they started saying simply you gotta change radiator, ac unit etc without checking electric circuit. They said it will cost more than 1.5 lakhs, without proper lack knowledge and experience. Authorised service center should work according to the manual book give to all cars, it's clearly mentioned when what to change and what not. Very worse these days especially in showrooms.
In 2005 எங்க டாடா இண்டிகா காரை பால் ஜாயின்ட் பூட் ரிப்பேர் ஆகி விட்டது. அதை சரி செய்ய 12,000 ரூபாய் ஆகும் என்று சொன்னார்கள்( in vellore vst). பிறகு 1500 ரூபாயில் ஒரு மெக்கானிக் செய்து கொடுத்தார்.

I faced similar kind of issue with the Hyundai service centre. There is no transparency in the billing...they have a good relationship with the insurance company surveyor to quote the amount as per their wish...
