  • The Irish president Michael Higgins has led tributes to the teacher Ashling Murphy, who was killed earlier this week, saying she represented the best of her generation.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
Vigils have been taking place across Ireland to remember the 23-year-old, who was found dead on Wednesday after she went out for an afternoon run along a canal in Tullamore.
Campaigners said it should become a "watershed moment to end violence against women".

How very sad for Ireland and the World that such a bright sweet person is snuffed out in such a brutal way as murder at 4pm in daylight. Poor sweet young music teacher taken from her life and students.

@@STHFGDBY appreciated; and I am sorry to post anything but condolences on this page but the death and violence just won't stop and this perfect person's life will be just another in vain. It's competition over Davidic suitability, a musical shepherd, I have straight facts if you want them; that girl had her own star, an Orrary, this whole country had hundreds and it's the reason her and everyone else in this country is being happlessly conquested upon. Sinn Féin and their monster mafia from Wexford aren't the prettiest bunch of poets so they go shopping for 'names', which is explicitly anti-decalogue, they use them like pieces on a chess board, or like pokemon cards really, people like Ms Murray here wouldn't even know of her mindlessness, went to walk off a migraine due the 'training sessions' probably in her Orrary, some other clique of 'funny gaming' psychopaths go bounce on an opponents troupe or prized chess piece in real life, your children are all schizo Babylonion addicted mobsters masturbating in the street - Jeremiah! This 'tragedy' wouldn't have happened if your Swiss American president listened to me seven years ago or had read a gospel for himself, also if Sinn Féin weren't exploiting the nation as a cerebral, disposable resource, again they were 'proud' of her, highlighted her grace, and then she got whacked on. I don't mean to offend but in the words of Jim Morrison - you're all a bunch of burning Hebrew slaves 🔥🫒🔥I sincerely appreciate your engaging with me though 🐑 I can save you from perdition, I can take away the sins of this world, if people just talk with me 😭

I'm from Dublin and my deepest condolences to everybody in Tullamore, especially Ashlings family and all the kiddies she taught in her school. That level of Evil is unfamiliar in Tullamore, so whoever this evil man is, an example must be made of him to put the message out that you will go to prison for the rest of your life if you commit this kind of crime. I believe the person of interest is in hospital. How he ended up there is not important, what's important is that if he's charged with Ashling's murder then he's off the streets. I believe the killer was probably in that area stalking women, and if he has a history of that then serious questions need answering.

Spot on Paddy. Media and political figures are delighted to line up and accuse 'toxic' men but very uneasy about pointing the finger where it belongs, because that might be labeled 'xenophobic', which smells much worse than misandry. There is a rash of stories of recently-arrived raping and killing innocent people. Sexists grab it as an opportunity to shame men although the good majority of men could offer a solution! They say we should educate our boys but that would completely miss the likes of Jozef Puska, Koci Selamaj, Danyal Hussein, Eltiona Skana - four killers off the top of my head from the last year.

My deep condolences to Ashlings family, the community and to all the school children that loved her. Ashling was ironically murdered on a walkway named after missing woman Fiona Pender who obviously had her life snuffed out by another evil man many years ago. He's still walking our streets, but though he escaped justice so far he will not escape Gods justice and neither will the killer of Ashling. Ashling should have been safe walking in a town unfamiliar to this kind of violence, but she walked into arms of an evil man that took her life, a man that was probably stalking women in that vicinity . He needs to be caught and sent to prison for the rest of his life. They need to introduce the Life without any possibility of parole sentence as they do in America.

Ashling did represent a lovely young talented musician and woman. But that is not the real reason to mourn her death. Ashling's life was deliberately taken from her in this violent way because she IS a female. Her murderer is a male.
These murderous events make half the population of the world which is female, always wary of males. Women are continually on the alert for themselves and the safety of other females - for those little girls, young women, mothers, grandmothers.
When will this murderous killing stop?! Why don't thousands of males come out in protest? Why is their empathy so low? They seem feel less than when their football team loses a match?! Men need to look at themselves! And women need to speak up and raise their concerns and anger!!!!

    • @Martial-Mat
      @Martial-Mat Před 2 lety +14

Thousands of males try to teach women to defend themselves and not go to remote places alone, but their offers are slapped away and they are villified for doing so.
This is not a male problem any more than all child murders are a woman problem. Do you really think that men voicing their disapproval will stop this sort of behaviour? There will ALWAYS be rapists and murderers. The penalty for getting caught is long terms of prison and possible death and THAT doesn't stop them! Women SHOULD be wary of males. Women SHOULD be wary of going to remote places alone. THAT is the message you should be proclaiming if you genuinely want to help.

There is a serious problem happening and it doesn't stop at teaching women self defense or how to avoid dark areas. Women have been doing that for centuries and for their whole lives. It is time for men to hold each other accountable and for the law to become more consistent at locking violent men away.

@@Martial-Mat The message to be wary is something that females have been giving themselves from time immemorial. To say that these things will happen is a very sad truth also. But MEN should take control of themselves. Your comment that "women should be wary of men" is at least a start and a statement about Reality. It is a good place from which MEN would begin to think about their mindset and begin the discussion.
The question about what makes a safe place is problematic. Taxis, towpaths in the afternoon, a quiet residential street, a park in the daytime, an early morning run along a main road, a shopping centre in late afternoon are all problematic for women.
Your answer firmly puts the onus on women instead of the fact that MEN should be looking at their own attitudes and behaviours to women and speaking out about what makes a man.

A killer will usually go for a victim that’s more vulnerable than them particularly in an uncontrolled environment like with this. The victim is merely down to opportunity and chance, wrong place wrong time, there is sadly no other deeper or bigger meaning as to why he picked her out of anyone else other than his sexuality possibility being a factor if he intended rape.I also kinda wince when I see this kinda coverage of a certain type of victim,It just feels odd.
