livewire will be virtually worthless in 5 years and old technology
I'm in Montreal, was able to get a brand new one for 25K Canadian... a 2020. Can wait to take delivery!

The real nice thing about this test ride was it was about ride, build quality, feel and response. Others I’ve watched was 99% on price and distance limit. Some people don’t get it. I’m glad Shawn does. 👊👍

Way of the future apparently Shawn, but I would use the old pushy trick and peg a playing card to the spokes for some sound!! The silence is absolutely deafening!! Great fun by the looks of it though brother, But I could never see myself on an electric bike. G'day to Kelly and yourself.

I caught myself smiling the whole time ! They are growing on me for sure. I mostly commute so this would make sense for me, but the price is CRAZY right now.
Kudos to Harley for trying to push the tech forward. E-bikes are the future for sure, the tech and infrastructure just need a few more years and it will be a great city option.

Interesting, so in 5-8 years we can have one with the Stage 4 Screaming Electron option (bigger electric motor, bigger battery, etc.)!
This was awesome! I have watched a ton of your Spyder/Ryker content I think this is the first video I have see where you show your face. Last July my 2010 Spyder RTS Burst into flames while I was in stop and go traffic. After months of research I decided to go for a LiveWire for my next bike and literally just took delivery last week. I got the biggest smile when I saw this video pop up in my youtube feed and had to laugh out loud at a few points in the video. I can't wait to ride mine but for now it is tucked away in the shed until I can get some riding weather. It's been around 4c here and raining everyday since it arrived. Thanks for the smiles.
I have no doubt that this thing hauls ass. I feel that the lack of sound and what you’re reading on the odometer makes it feel more of a rush then on a bike with sound at the same speeds. Great video and wherever you live it’s a gorgeous place.

That would make an ideal commuter bike. It's fun watching you get so excited about it.
New bikes, new terms: regenerative braking. I test rode this in Baltimore a month or so back. Waited for 6 hours in line to test it and Harley had a whole fleet of them in the truck.
This bike is so smooth, you need to ride it to believe it, but it’s got power if you twist it.
Price is a major disappointment though, I bet if they cut the price by half, they would sell a ton of them, single handedly reversing the sales trend.
I'm sure HD would love to cut the price, unfortunately they can't because the tech is costly to produce and implement. We see the same situation in the EV car market where such vehicles sell at a premium over their conventionally powered siblings.
it just needs the range, hate to get 100 miles out in the country in this area and have the battery die, in a few years things will be a lot better as charging stations get installed, impressive acceleration though loud plugs save lives.
@Terry Melvin Batteries, perhaps, though by now costs should have dropped. But motors I seriously doubt cost more than engines and drive shafts. What other tech is there? Forget self driving but other assistive tech was available a long time ago
@Terry Melvin I'm pretty sure Super Soco are making a profit at selling vintage electric motorcycles, it probably helps they're significantly more affordable too.

regenerative braking... will slightly charge the battery. Great thing about electric: full torque of the motor is available from the instant it is turned on!!!
Full torque when riding bikes is not so great as the amount of grip is really limited. That means that the traction control and ESC have to be on point to be safe. You can see a lot of crashes (compared to the number of bikes out there) with electric bikes on corner exit due to the sharp throttle and the high torque. It's something that's also talked about a lot on motorcycle forums.
I have tried myself a Zero S bike and I don't see myself riding that thing in the winter with cold asphalt or with rain, and my bike has way more power than the Zero.

Got one picked up yesterday done 95 miles on it 15 miles left put on charge overnight 24 hours Charger under seat not charging well pissed off.

I’m in love with this bike just not a fan of the sport stance but after watching the show Long Way Up with actor Ewan McGregor where they converted 2 HD Livewires into enduro type bikes & travel from the bottom of South America to L.A., I’m truly in love.
Congratulations Harley Davidson, that’s an incredible motorcycle. Perfect if you’re riding for a couple of hours each day at the weekend.
They knocked it out of the park with this one for sure! All those high-end components and extreme attention to detail doesn’t come at a discount price though, but I think it’s worth every cent..! Try to go see one, and better yet, ride one if possible. You’ll walk away a changed person... Lol

I'm super happy for Harley, as I'm really hoping they can sell some (even tho they are 30K), but for me, it's too much like a sports bike - so not my thing. But electric is definitely the future, I loved the experience and can't wait to see what's coming next. Well done Harley!

Well I looked up Harley's stats and they are fluid and as much fun as it is to knock Harley you have to wish the best for the new models and an American company.
I test rode about 3 Saturday’s ago. The four that Frazier’s had were all kept in tour mode, but even then the speed and torque 😎😎 Holy Cow. Silent but deadly. I really liked it, but that type bike shouldn’t be priced the same as my Ultra Ltd. it is a gorgeous fun bike though. It would have been fun to be able to take off on our own like you did. It’s just $30K.

I'm a big fan of this bike, but a few things I worry about. At the price point, the new cheap Tesla isn't much more. Also so many people use their bikes to tour and at $30K for a commuter only bike may not get many takers. I do hope there's enough wealthy early adopters to keep this technology around so it trickles down to the regular people someday.

I was nice that the dealer let you get out and have some fun on the Livewire! But knowing what you just paid for you new soft tail do you feel the bike is overpriced? I know they are trying to reach younger riders but I don't see younger kids having that kind of money? And you mentioned a Stage Three charging kit does that give the bike more range or just faster charging? I would like to test ride one but I don't think this bike is for me? I am a touring guy because we take trips each year on the bike. But for around town, this would be cool. Ride Safe

Harley electric version of the Indian Scout FTR 1200.
"Before you run the old trap, do some research" This is legit the same thing you can say about anyone who runs their mount with harley hate. Like I get it, expensive bikes but people will say some REALLY dumb things that can be answered or dispelled just by doing a little bit of searching on their website, or another bike's website.
"I should not have ridden this thing" I giggled. That moment when it goes from "im curious" to "oh no... no no no... Now i want one..."
Does it feel like the motor Gathers power? That's what my ebike feels like is that as i accelerate it feels like it gathers and pulls, I'm not sure if the Livewire does this, but it's a freakin awesome feeling. Twist the throttle to max and it just .... feels like it's gathering energy.
I'm so glad Harley decided to jump into the ebike market like this. Going head first in and setting the example.
This is going to be a pretty interesting next few years.
Tell me about it, they're making an electric moped and motocross model next! 😂
no doubt that is the future. When they make them in a range of 500KM, recharge to full in 10 min (they can already do 80% in 20min) and bring them out in a Street Glide type bike...costing to more then the current SG...they will get my attention. Until then I watch the progress...

Don't you love how the Harley BoomAudio GPS sends you behind the NWHD dealer then back on to the freeway with a 5-10 minute loop around to get back there? That was the day I wanted to tear it out of my fairing and leave it on the side of the road.
