- This is the first session for the University of South Florida Post-Crisis Hospitality Management Certificate program offered by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida.

Yes, our bank Seacoast Bank was one of the few community banks that participated in the Payroll Protection Program. It was an honor to be one of these few banks to help an abundance of law firms, restaraunts, sports programs, etc. I salute anyone behind a grill wearing a mask because they are not the most comfortable but it’s for the best for everyone. Mr. Nick shed light on what’s going on with restaurant owners during this pandemic to ensure everyone’s safety as well as keeping their business running and profitable. The big takeaway is also a key component to success. There will be opportunities post the pandemic but in a different manner. We have to take this time to focus on how we can attain more skills in the industry and take this as a time to seize opportunities. “The winds of history constantly change.” -Sir Dr. Adam Carmer. This has to be a quote because it is true. If we take a look at the calamities that have occurred during history, we can see that the world adapted to a new normal after each event. I wasn’t alive during WWI,WWII, The Great Depression,etc. but I see Covid-19 as an event that will go down in history but we will prosper after this. The Deep Metaphors segment is insightful and I hope everyone incorporates these metaphors. “Plan your journey so your journey doesn’t plan you” is a quote I took from the Deep Metaphor-Journey slide. You have to have a growth mindset! “It takes a lot to look that graceful” and this is true and there’s a plethora of individuals that are as elegant as a swan but it took a lot of hard work for them to be at that level.

I enjoyed watching this lecture. The quotes really inspired me and what I needed to hear during these turbulent times. “A business without a plan is a plan for no business.” This is applicable to every sector and a lot of businesses fail due to this. There’s a food restaurant next to my bank in Lake Nona and they are thriving during the pandemic and I’m sure it’s because they had and still have their business plan. Sir Dr. Adam Carmer did a great job with this lecture and thanks for keeping me up after midnight😊 I thought I was going to fall asleep but your tone is very passionate about the industry which is a plus! I want to open an online boutique and this inspired me because a business needs foundation, planning, organization, and a plan. Mr. Nick had an inspirational segment as well. Planning for next year is key and making sure we prepare now to thrive is crucial.
