Thanks Peter, I enjoyed that. You’re in a lovely location. I’m amazed their are migratory fish (presume sea trout/salmon…perhaps lamprey?) on such a small river. Must be great to see them scaling the weir. I’ve often looked for fish jumping the weirs on my local river but never been lucky enough to see any…I did witness hundreds of lamprey going upstream once though. They’re fascinating as they use their mouth to suck onto the sides of the weir and rest on their way up

Thanks David. The Cuckmere is quite short river, definitely has sea trout in the lower reaches, but I have not seen them where I live, which is well upstream. There are obstacles, wiers old mills etc which I think make passage upstream very difficult, shame they can't be taken out as they no longer serve any purpose. One day hopefully. Not certain about the sea lampreys, the river holds mysteries yet to be discovered. I see that progress is taking place in removing obstructions on some northern rivers to help migratory fish and what has been done on the Severn is fantastic. Hope it's not too rainy where you are!
