My regular OG PS4 couldn't update 10.50, it turned out to be completely related to the power supply or the ribbon underneath as stated in this video. I had cleaned it out myself a few months back and I guess I didn't properly reconnect it. Thank you for the suggestion as I am now able to play online again!
@rickcatley4487 It would start up normally so I wouldn't know if it were fixed unless I tried starting up the game. I kept getting an error that mentioned that I needed to update the system software. I found out that the O.G. PS4 will not update as of now unless all parts are working properly as safety precaution. The optical drive cable that reads discs was not connected properly on my PS4 and was needed to be fixed before my PS4 could Update itself
@rickcatley4487 putting it in Safe Mode doesn't help or make it work. if your Ps4 has a Disc drive problem or a Fan not spinning problem, then it will not update until they are functional.

I had a console with a defected Blu-ray drive that presented the same error code when updating, it was booting straight to safe mode with all the options greyed out except option 7. I swapped the ribbon cable and BD from another working console and I installed a recovery update file 0.9Gb “ not the regular 465MB “ and it all went well. After the installation I swapped back the ribbon and BD and booted it up. It worked as well. I’m not sure if it’ll keep working forever or until the next update but for now it seems fine.
My ps4 has not had a disc reader for more than 1 year and I have never had problems updating it, now is it necessary to have a disc reader to update the PS4?
This works just go in your system unplug the ribbon and make sure it isn't dirty then wipe the shit completely and upload fresh from USB this worked for me Dec 1st 2021
Man I am sorry for judging this video before I watched it. Once I saw the heat gun in the preview I was like “oh no” lol. I was getting that error and it turns out my disc drive cable wasn’t seated all the way. Previous guy broke the tabs on the cable so it doesn’t sit well. Thanks for the info!!
Since Update 9.03 dropped i could not install the new Update on my PS4 Pro, because the update is checking on your optical disc drive and mine is not working. (I remember that it always worked before this update). Furthermore, I tried EVERYTHING to get this Update. Got into safe mode, rebuilt database, initialize my entire ps4 system, deleted and reinstall data on my Hard Disc drive, and even changed old optical disc drive with a new one. Great video I bought a new disc drive ribbon for under $5 and replaced in just a few minutes and I have no idea what I’m doing but it worked no error code and my disc drive works again
I'm going to check on it tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the problem. That plug was giving me hell trying to keep it in when I was reassembling
@@3ptrey927 have you disassembled? I have two torx screws smaller than the others. Idk where they go, all the assembly videos don't show the different screws being used

I just ordered a new fan and hard drive so when I break it down again I hope to find the 2nd Phillips slot. There's only two Phillips screws between complete build and pre fan removal. There's more at fan removal but I can't find the spots where I'm at

When you pull the ribbon cable out from under the power supply there’s like two little ears on the end going out on the left and right if I broke one of them off could that be why my disc drive isn’t working

What file did you use? did you restore your ps4? but did it work?
Wipe the connections and ends of ribbon cable with Qtip and alcohol; worked for me
