    I had the 530i for a week to test. Normal driving came to 11km per liter of petrol. With the 530e, I used 0 liters in the city and about 30km per liter on the highway. If your commute is close and you can charge everyday, the car is worth it. I only fueled once in the last 8 weeks and I only filled half the tank. For me, it is better than the straight electric, which charging is shit when I want to go to the mountains and beaches. There the km per liter came to 13, which was better than my other diesel and much better than the 530i.

    On petrol consumption... Obviously a far too small engine for such a heavy car! I see it's missing the fuel consumption rate at 140km/h however 14l/100 at 160km/h tells the whole story! Probably a car that makes sense in the city traffic else ... Still far away from the Japanese masterful plugins!
    Thanks for the video! ♥️

    • @sezginustmert8144
      @sezginustmert8144 Před 2 lety +4

      Obviously the car doesn't consume 14l/100km @ 160km/h: he has battery control on, which fills the battery while driving. I have a 530e (sedan & RWD) and the consumption is surely below 10l @ 160. At 120km/h i avarage around 5.5-6.5l/100 depending on weather conditions.
      The engine is enough for the car: always keep a bit electric juice to assist acceleration.

      @@sezginustmert8144 I was testdriving the 530e thinking about purchasing it and the weak engine killed my interest. Still looking for a new car as I'm driving a 2010 525d E61 Touring at 199PS. Honestly, both acceleration and consumption is lower on my 525d on the autobahn. The electric acceleration in cities was great in the 530e, but it comes at the cost of having to regularly charge it with a wire.

    • @sezginustmert8144
      @sezginustmert8144 Před 2 lety

      @@MegaDarkYuki Weak engine is not true, you always have 292hp and 480nm at your disposal as the car always keeps a bit of electric juice (at the cost of gasoline to refill it). Only in hybrid eco-pro it tends to use one of both engines, not combined (unless you floor it) I do agree you have to recharge it regulary to enjoy it fully. But i bought it because of the low company taxes or else i would fancy a 6 cilinder :)

    • @davidrhee6595
      @davidrhee6595 Před 2 lety +7

      Not really. I use the electric in the city for daily use and I don't use a drop of petrol. As I go onto the freeways, I use the charge mode or hybrid mode and my fuel consumption is 23 km per liter and it charges my battery so that when I enter the next city, I can use my electric mode. I have only fueled up my car once in the last 2 months. I only fuel up half the tank!
      This is of course for those that can charge everyday like me and drive within the batter limits most of the time.
      I still take it to the beach about 3 hours away and I get 17-20 km per liter. Much better than my other diesel car.

    • @toms_garage
      @toms_garage Před 2 lety +1

      @@davidrhee6595 I must say I do enjoy the electric driving mode and not using petrol. I guess it depends on what the user's requirements are. If you are doing longer trips regularly its worth getting the diesel.

  • @toms_garage

    I just picked up one of these g31 530e, I get about 34mpg and 27 miles of electric range when charged. It is a shame you can't have options on UK spec BMW's right now, so it misses out on the heads up display, upgraded sound system and gesture control to name a few. I have a few vids on my channel if you want to see it.

      Toyota has a license and patent on the direct/parallel charging system. Other car manufacturers cannot use it. Toyota is the only one, so that technology is the one with the best mileage per charge and the recharge system. Others use the parallel system only so the mileage won't be as good.

    Teribile consumption. I don't know why producers are insisting with this type of propulsion on large cars. They are made for highway to go with high speeds and need the power only from internal combustion engines, not combined from a small electric engine which is totally useless at high speeds.
