- Removing blockages from your Dyson Small Ball™ upright vacuum.
If your machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be from carpets or hard floors, this may be due to a temporary blockage. This could occur if an item too big for the machine has been accidentally vacuumed up.
After turning off and unplugging the machine, please follow the steps shown in the video to locate and remove any obstructions from the cleaner head and internal hose.
Step 1. Lay the machine back without reclining it.
Step 2. Release the red latch and remove the cleaner head.
Step 3. Check for any debris in the airway behind the cleaner head.
Step 4. Pivot the red levers outwards and swing the baseplate open.
Step 5. Check for any debris in the cleaner head.
Step 6. Ensure the brush bar is free from debris and can spin freely.
Step 7. Swing the baseplate shut and pivot both levers back into position, ensuring the baseplate is secure.
Step 8. Release the internal hose by pulling the red collar towards you.
Step 9. Check inside it for any debris. When clear, it should be possible to see straight through the product.
Step 10. Refit the red internal hose collar.
Step 11. Press the red button on the cyclone assembly to remove the cyclone and bin from the machine.
Step 12. Press the same red button again to open the base.
Step 13. Then press the silver button and remove the clear bin.
Step 14. Check both airways in the cyclone for any debris.
Step 15. Refit the clear bin ensuring it clicks shut.
Step 16. Close the bin base ensuring it clicks shut.
Step 17. Lower the front of the machine onto the cleaner head ensuring it clicks in place.

I can't get the beater bar piece disengaged from the main unit. Also the bar doesn't spin around. Have cleared all other parts of the vacuum and cleaned the filter. Frustrated.
Yes, it did!
It absolutely did solve my issue. Very grateful to you. Thanks.
Myn doesnt have the red clios to remove brush, its the uk version
No it didnt - the suction at the bottom does not work
3 Days into owning a Dyson small Ball 2, the suction had gone and I was not a happy customer. Fortunately, I found this video, fixed within minutes, I now have the knowledge to sort this out myself, thank you so much, am much calmer now.
Thank you so much. Over the seven years I had my Dyson, it collected a extremely large amount of dust corks.😂 This video did, it now works.❤️
Thank you so much for this. The instruction manual is useless, but blockage now cleared thanks to you. X
Thank god you showed me easy way to put head back on
Pefect, this video fixed my problem. There was a clog behind the cleaner head
Thanks for this video, it worked for me. Now I think I got rid of a functional vacuum cleaner 3 months ago and replaced it, when all I had to do was this
Absolutely fantastic information, my hoover was blocked I went on CZcams to find out how to unblock and hey presto. My hoover is now working brilliant again, thanks. 😁😁😁

Thank you so much for this - instruction manual shows none of this. Anyway, cleared the blockage, so thanks again.
Best video ever, quiet and to the point, let me go try this
Excellent Thankyou quick and easy
thanks for the awesome video @dyson
Thank you, sorted now xxx
Thank you so much. I found the clog!
Thanks! You saved me.
Saved my bacon! Thankyou
THANKS!!! 🎉🎉
Is it possible for a warped plastic cover (not sealing tightly) on the opening to the rear and left of the center hole on the ball to cause loss of suction on the floor unit? I have cleaned everything per your very clear instructions and am still having loss of suction on the floor unit only. Could I put tape on it? Thank you.
Holy ASMR
Can't believe I spent $500 on this vacuum less than three years ago. It's awful.
ur not a road
I agree, see my comment. It’s basically a premium price tag for a very poorly designed product. Dyson could have done much better by just improving what already worked well, but instead they had to try to reinvent the wheel.
You missed out the one step I needed, how to remove the hose
Mine will not start sucking for about 10 minutes back and forth same spot then all of a sudden it starts picking and does great until I’m finished. First 10 minutes is BS though
No, it doesn't show you how to clear the pipes between the "internal pipe" and the cyclone/main chamber.
They have red tabs, but it's not clear how to access them.
We'll be happy to look into this for you. Kindly PM us with the info on Facebook. Can you provide us the following info:

My dyson before this one was light weight and lasted 8yrs this one is a bit annoying…
I just cant get the head off however I try

Same with me I'm trying to pull but not coming off even tho I am pulling the red clip down
I hate the fact I spent money on this thing. Small tubes are forever getting blocked, plugged and filled with debris. Poor design and big price.
Mine clogs several times daily. pets kids, my own hair its a losing battle with this thing.
BMI. &Fly+cf fix
Useful and helpful , butThis is weird as hell, why no voice ?, just a pair of hands pointing . Seems foreign and creepy.
I’m sorry but not a fan of this Dyson as it’s not only so bottom heavy, which must make it impossible for less able or elderly people to use.
I also find it a pain in the backside to service as it’s designed in such a way that there are parts where debris gets caught are pretty inaccessible, it is possible to get in to clear but is certainly not easy by design. And that’s coming from a person who has been taking things apart and putting them back together since I was a child. As I have a natural gift when it comes to things of that nature as I had that curiosity as a child to take everything apart to understand exactly how it worked.
And the way the attachments connect onto the hose is a step backward in my opinion as it is just so awkward.
Dyson have some great products and I am a fan, but not of this abomination I have to say.
Whoever designed it missed the mark in my opinion. As earlier models like the DC07 were much better at the job they were designed to do, ok there could have been improvements to make them even better for sure. But they were a great product and sucked up all the dirt really well and were pretty easy to service and clean, unlike this model.
I would not have let something like this get past the product development stage, let alone took it to market.
Sorry to be negative but the truth must be told, like I say I am a fan of Dyson as a company since it’s conception. And usually love their products, I can remember when the hairdryer came out and I checked one out in Curry’s by giving it a blast and the air current caught a passing bloke who went “Ohhh” he was as surprised as I was by it’s power. And the fans have blown me away (pun intended) by their low noise level and power.
I hope To be amazed again in the not too distant future.

Still can’t take it off
Hi there. What part are you having trouble with removing?
@@dyson it’s all good done it in the end
Thanks
Glad it is sorted.
Btw, why tf dyson still shown this video even then doesn't sell this vacum anymore
Great question! You'll be happy to know many customers still own our earlier technology and can use this video to keep their machine running as intended.
Because Dyson's last for years and people still may have this model and may not know how to do this, it's not rocket science.
Great question? NO, it's an idiotic question.
The video is retained because people don't buy a brand new vacuum cleaner every time the new model is released.
@@kjnijnpiub Yes, you are right!😀 I got my first Dyson in '06(Dyson DC14 Animal 00053)$549.00. It lasted me seven years. It would've lasted longer if it didn't fall down from the stairs outside... Then I purchased another Dyson in '14, still works great. Except the little brushes keep coming off the brush bar.
Well people can have old ones can't they?
I hate this cleaner
