a 1\12 is not steap enouth the roof will rot it should have been at least 4\ 12
It was raining when I installed the shingles. The roof drains. In snow country, I'd want at least 3/12. If there were standing water, there would be an issue. There isn't.
For roofs that are not steep enough you can use self adhesive rubber ice-water barrier instead of tar paper.
