Fierce with a pen and notorious in combat, Cyrano almost has it all - if only he could win the heart of his true love Roxane. There’s just one big problem: he has a nose as huge as his heart. Will a society engulfed by narcissism get the better of Cyrano - or can his mastery of language set Roxane’s world alight?
Edmond Rostand’s masterwork is adapted by Martin Crimp, with direction by Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal). This classic play will be brought to life with linguistic ingenuity to celebrate Cyrano’s powerful and resonant resistance against overwhelming odds.

I wish I had the eloquence of Cyrano to say how powerful this play is. I’m speechless. The style, the decor, the lyrics...it takes your heart and touch your soul. James is mind blowing and his words are a new form of art, they’re alive & full of strength.
That is what makes him a brilliant work of fiction.
Try and see Andrew Scott's Hamlet if you haven't yet. Also a ridiculously great performance.

Y’all I have watched this trailer probably 20 times now and I’ll watch it several more. I went to the actual showing the other night and it did not disappoint. His face. His voice. His body. His delivery. The charisma is overwhelming.

I watched this when it was screened in cinemas, and it is fantastic! It was mesmerising on screen, and so live it must have been truly brilliant. I wish I could watch it again! It gives such a modernised yet powerful version, and it uses the power of imagination to capture the real beauty of Cyrano’s writing and character, along with the rest of the cast. James McAvoy is absolutely perfect for the role, and in every second he’s on the stage you can tell how much he embodies the character, which makes his message incredibly pertinent. He’s a wonderful and convincing actor, and brings the whole performance together with such a wonderful ending. 10/10.

Is this available to buy anywhere?? It seems bizarre to go to all the effort to produce and record it and then not make it available to a wider audience. Let me give you my money National Theatre!!
Why does National Theatre not have it’s own STREAMING SITE? Think of it? You could have all the original plays and we could all buy a subscription.
FYI, the NT Live at Home subscription site is now operational, albeit a bit pricey. Alas, McAvoy's Cyrano is yet to be made available via this service.

I saw it last year in Bulgaria in cinema and it was amazing. I fell in love with the performance of James McAvoy, it was so sincere and direct… just really amazing!

Please consider putting Cyrano up here on National Theatre at Home. Our cinemas are not open to us where I am. And, quite frankly, even if they were I'm not prepared to go into one until there's a vaccine. I promise to donate, like I always do, to have the privilege of watching it online. Or put it up and have us pay the cinema ticket amount to watch it/rent it. Think on it. The last Cyrano that had me this captivated was Derek Jacobi's.

This adaptation is absolutely breathtaking. I would love to learn several of the poems by heart. Could you release at least parts of the script, or upload clips of for example the nose speech? I'd be immensely thankful.

If you can get to the National Theatre Archives, they have every NT Live available to watch for free in their archive rooms. You just need to book.

Just saw an interview James did the other night on Colbert, and I really hope they make this available in the US. We got to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller's Frankensteins as a special limited release and I still talk about it.

There's a certain subreddit that might have it once it's been broadcast because people intercept the signal but it only works when it's a proper live screening and not a prerecorded one broadcast to cinemas and I don't know which this is
