"I need intelligent comedy to make me laugh"
Bo Burnham: "blelele"
Lmao
Talk about the wrong timing!
That's what confuses me about my sense of humor, like it's either gotta be Bo Burnham level or a piece of bread falling over, nothing in between.
I didnât know how to spell that. Thanks haha.
exactly !
His yelling during the finale are even more distressing when you realise he was having severe panic attacks during this time
yuuuuuppppp - I think it goes even deeper than that right? The screams sound real, they sound genuine - but they also fit so well aurally, they are obvious *part of the script*
just like... the man decided to face the fucking abyss and scream back into it.
@@cameronross8812 yeah and this was also his last live performance until he was just gone for 5 years.
@@septicsorcerer9620 if you want to get pedantic and technical, it's his last two performances, one of which belive filmed with no audience at all, for some pickups. Performed to no one must have been a bizarre emotional ride to try and access the same emotions i bet.
@@cameronross8812 yeah and then he went missing to improve his mental stare and just as he was gonna perform live again covid came around
@@septicsorcerer9620 He didn't go *totally* missing though. He directed the movie Eighth Grade in 2018, so he still was present in interviews and the sort related to the movie.
"and laugh as he attempts to give you what he can not give himself"
Wish that part didnât get interrupted, or at least rewound and watched again.
@@akalawada lol exactly got disappointed when he missed it in the video
This line actually broke me. Bo Burnham is a genius.
There isnât anything out there that is as deep and honest as this verse
Gives me goosebumps every time.. even after 50+ watches. I can relate sooooo much. First time and one of the last times I ever went on stage. Only for a couple hundred people .. I immediately puked before... The lead up to the anxiety attacks is almost worse. Not knowing how intense it'll be... Ughhh...
Bo was sobbing and shaking back stage after this. He was having severe panic attacks on stage during this tour, and it ended here with this performance. He really said "I hope you're happy" and left performance for 5 years.
It moves me to a profound degree, the art Bo makes with his pain.
Highly recommend We Think We Know You and the song from God's perspective.
Every great comedian has a fucked up life, or self image, or mental health and unfortunately thatâs what makes them funny
Oh, you were backstage at this show?
@@POZEHTRONIC no they don't but we are the most sick and warped because we can find the humor in anything
@@drexlspivey8021 He outright admitted it himself during an interview. Why be argumentative just for arguments sake? What was the point of your comment?

One of my favorite thing about Bo Burnham's live performances is his command of light.
up until 1:58 all the house lights are on, and he's addressing everyone, then it's a spotlight on him, and you can't see the crowd
3:19 , addressing the crowd again, bathes them in light, then back to his spotlight
6:52 , all the spotlights focus on his head , and those get hot. The pressure is too much, people always focusing on you
7:53 , pitch black, back to a single light , internal narration
10:09 "just shut up and do my job" the light is on his back, and his face is in the dark. They don't care about me as a person, they just want the product
10:31 party/rave lights "you can tell them anything just make it funny" again, they don't care about who i am, but they came to be happy, so I'm going to do that for them.
Just a phenomenal stage performer and lyricist.
7:53 I get that as well but I prefer to see this as bo letting Robert out (Robert is his real name and bo is his stage name for people who don't know) and when he says I should just shut up and do my job you just see his shadow because bo is back to finish
Nice pfp
"If they still don't understand you, then you run it one more time."
this is the kind of line you say when you're about to go back into the Chorus of a song.... which before this point appeared to be the bit about the burrito except what he actually sings is "I don't think that I can handle this right now."
please watch his âwe think we know youâ one. so good
yesss so good.
yes please react on this. one of his another best video but no one has any reaction video on it.
Itâs literally genius. So glad heâs finally getting appreciation, itâs way overdue.
@@sahanmaharjan360 Plenty of people reacted to that...
This shit made me cry first time I saw it.
I cry everytime.
"Are you happy" is the one that made me cry. It just seemed so genuine.
There have been a few times. First time after inside and 30, one of those.
@@TLHughesGaming Right? I can keep myself together until he's in that room singing "Are You Happy?" Then I break down. Every. Fucking. Time.
I think the Pringles & Burrito rants are symbolizing his life. Pringles = Knows what he wants out of life but canât have (or grasp) it. Burrito = His life as a celebrity in the spotlight. Maybe he wouldâve done things differently had he known what it REALLY took to be a celebrity. Even his comedy is a symbolism of his life. I urge you to go back and watch his first 2 Netflix specials armed with knowing about his mental health. Heâs a musical & sarcastic genius with his comedy. Using both of these funny rants (handling Pringles & Burritos) to share his message about handling fame. Glad he had the strength to share ALL of this with the world and bring a spotlight to mental health with his powerful âInsideâ special. God Bless
Iâve heard the Pringleâs can thing could also be symbolic of only wanting a little bit (reaching in for one or two) but getting too much at once (the crumbs spilling on his face)
I believe he's trying to act like those are his biggest problems to avoid thinking about what's the actual problems are
Hes done interviews before and have been asked about this part. He has straight up said it has nothing to do with any of that and that he just thought itd be funny and that he doesnt even get burritos at Chipotle he gets the bowls lmfao
Skip to 11:22 that's where he talks about it in this video. :) czcams.com/video/eOABIabgRCg/video.html
I saw Pringles can as to small and him mentioning needing a daughter as an extension of self, she may be able do things he cannot and access places maybe he couldnât. The Burrito I interpreted as the excess of Kanyeâs life and a kind of uncontrollable aspect of celebrity. It also reminded me of when people are psychotic or manic and they fixate and complain about something tangible and banal in their immediate environment and what is behind is something more profoundly uncommunicable that they are not able to put into words. Watching Inside made me cry.
the "i hope you're happy" always feels like a punch in the face
6:49 His laugh and Boâs singing are synced lmao
Watching this is surreal for me having had severe panic attacks. He's killing a performance with all the tingly numbness in his body and thoughts racing like crazy dumbfounds me
I have always called doing that fun
After the confession in the song I realized the "I wouldn't have gotten the lettuce if I knew it wouldn't fit" was symbolism for him realizing he put too much on his plate and he couldn't deal with the stress of it all.
WOOAAHHHHHHHHH. even after a million listens and consideration. As well as living with it never saw it that way
Lol I'm loving seeing people on YT react to Bo for the first time. I first heard of him way back in 2007 when my older brother showed me one of his first CZcams videos. Been on the bandwagon ever since; he's one of my favorites.
First videos I ever watched on YT and I still love it man
This is exactly how I found him, older sibling showed me the cereal mascot rehab video when I was 13 in â07 and Iâve been promoting him ever since lol
I saw his comedy central special. He got better and better each project. Also... You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes... Bo Burnham has been on like 3 times. Amazing podcasts that helped me though a tuff time in my life
He truly is crying out at the end.
The last one is the real deal. You can see his hand shaking.
Indeed.
As a fan of reaction videos, may I humbly give you a lil constructive criticism; After you pause a the vid and give your opinion, don't play where you paused, rewind it a bit and play, so you wont miss anything. It makes a significant difference, especialy if an artist is very nuanced such as Bo is. TY. love your reactions brotha! keep going
So happy to see you appreciate what an intelligent, multi skilled, good person Bo Burnham is. His specials helped me through so many tough times. Honestly it makes me feel like I'm not alone.
I am one of those people you describe that has known about Bo for about 10 years or so. Seeing him blowing up right now and watching these reaction videos is truly special. I can enjoy it all over again, as if is the first time.
I'm in the same boat. It's been amazing to watch the non Bo crowd really latch on to him and it's largely been the groups outside of Bo's normal demographics watching him. I still want to see a reaction video to Klan Kookout from Big Holla. I'm not sure it would go well, but it would be interesting.
The fact that this is his last live performance before his hiatus, makes it hit harder.
Words, words, words... I think you would appreciate the word play in that song!
It hits me so hard everytime since I learned that he was having a panic attack during this song and "I hope you're happy" was the last thing he told the world before his mental health hiatus
When his stuff came out it was underrated and he was so ahead of his time
And laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself.....
Ughhh...
I've been a fan of Bo's since his very first songs in his bedroom on YT and honestly it's been such a wild jouney watching what he's evolved into as an artist.
I feel so bad for him knowing how much he struggles, but I'm also glad that he's been able to express himself and create such amazing art.
"they don't even know the half of it" Bo had a panic attack during this song.
If you wanna go through a bo burnham experience, I'd say start with his songs 'I'm bo yo' 'Bo fo sho' 'New Math' 'Rehab Center for fictional characters' ' Klan cookout' (yes, that is the name of the song.....) 'My Better Half' 'the perfect woman' ' my whole family' then go one his 'Words Words Words' special, then the 'What' special, then 'Make Happy' and finally 'Inside'
Everything before Words Words Words was filmed in his bedroom when he was a teenager, before he went big
can i just say youâre one FEW reactors who connected everything. bo is so incredibly talented and so intelligent and you picked up on the very subtle things bo was trying to explain
Iâve always felt that the burrito was a metaphor for the life heâs living saying
âIf I knew what I was getting into and all the shit that comes with this gig I probably wouldnât have done itâ
iâve watched so many bo reaction videos and yours are my favorite. i wanna see you react to everything heâs ever made
First off, New to the channel, loved this reaction so much
Second, someone pointed out to me that the Pringles can is a metaphor for his own happiness. He struggles with depression and anxiety, and can't get a consistent supply of being happy, like the inability to fit his hand in a Pringles can/he gets overloaded with seemingly surprising amounts of praise and recognition like the crumbs spilling on his face. Also with the part of having a daughter to help him reach his "happiness" because that's a societal norm to make people happy.
Third, the burrito part is an analogy for having his life together, where he grew up as a viral youtuber, life escalating very quickly, no-one was around to could help him understand how to keep everything together, and everything is "spilling" creating anxiety
Every time I see his Kanye rant, that's all I can think about now...
And the yelling at the end... this was the last song of the last show of his tour right before his 5 yr break. You can tell he loves his fans but is so ready to be done with all this for mental health reasons with the way he says "thank you, good night, I hope your happy"
anyway, just my thoughts, thanks for letting me say my Shit lol
You write very well-for a profession, I presume? Thanks for your thoughts!
I thought âsextingâ was a better sounding song off inside
"got myself a chicken buh-rrito. BRRRAH" puts me under the ground every time
A multi-part reaction to the entirety of Make Happy would be awesome. Or any of his specials. Mostly because some of the most entertaining parts come from segues between songs that you dont get to see in the uploaded videos!
"Ladies, ya nasty." I'm dead. Lol.
Man, Iâm loving watching people discover Bo for the first time. Love your reaction man.
I think the reason that this Song/skit/bit is popular is because it feels like a bit laced with this manâs soul. It feels so genuine. Like, he made it funny but also spoke out loud his deepest fears/thoughts in the same comedy routineâŠ. Also made it into a song Iâve listened to countless times. Genius.
This part of Make Happy always makes me super emotional, and seeing your reaction to it made me so happy and excited for you! I love your enthusiasm and I'm so glad you love his content.
Bro you're so fucking fun to watch. Thank you for being so genuine and smat and funny and just chill. HARD subscribe and I'm bout to do a deep dive on your other videos. Mad props.
You should watch âArt is Deadâ :). Itâs amazingly written and he was only 19 while it was being performed.
âI hope your happy!â Thatâs amazing and very sad way of ending it!!
He did all of this WHILE having a panic attack. People that went to that show say they had to wait about an hour to meet him back stage cause he had to use oxygen to help him calm down. Hes said before in the past that while hes having panic attacks on stage that he just get tunnel vision and his whole body feels numb and he just kinda goes with the motion of it all. The fact that he's STILL able to do shows WHILE having severe panic attacks blows my mind!
Iâve seen this special and this performance, his âwhat.â special and his âInsideâ Netflix special, several times each, and he has already staked his claim as one of the all time greatest comedians. The comedy itself is really funny, but his direction, music, production, etc. coupled with his ability to have multiple layers of introspection and self-awareness throughout all of it is second to none.
I have small panic attacks at random points throughout my days. I have to go to my office and decompress when I'm at work. Shortness of breath. Fight or flight instincts acting in every way possible. The way he is able to perform in the middle of one is impressive.
No cap bro u gotta watch the specials, I been a fan since early middle school. Itâs awesome to see yâall react for the first time
Do so many more bo, loving this journey
I still hold my breath during the end of this performance. I feel his pain so deeply every time I watch this. Yes, he is fantastically talented but he shares such intense pain.
this is why i love reactions lmao, when you are done laughing at the original comedy, and reactions relight the funny, man your shits good lmao
still i get bo about the pringle can shit lmao, also the logo, what did they do to the pringle can man
I discovered no burnham in 08 on his first special (Comedy Central half hour) he just graduated highschool. Watching you experience one of my biggest idols for the first time makes me feel just as good aswhen I heard him as a middle schooler
this reaction was amazing đ€Łđ thank you!
After this is best choice "are you happy"
Bro, loving your energy đ€©
New to your channel and love that you are becoming a fan of Bo. I first saw him at the Edinburgh fringe in 2010 and I've been hooked by his genius ever since.đ€Ł Total legend â€ïž
Yeah dude is dope. Might check out the specials
The first time I saw this, I got to the end of the video, and just needed a break. The whole world just needed to shut the hell up so I could process. The man's incredible.
Love your reactions the most bless your heart bro
The end when he says âThank you, Good night. I hope youâre happy.â
Heâs not actually hoping theyâre genuinely happy in life. Heâs basically saying âThanks for proving me right. I hope youâre happy with yourselves. Youâre killing me.â
I think it's a bit of both
Ok but I think "I hope you're happeh" is alluding to the "Thanks alot Rachel, you idiot" meme.
*"I hope you're happeh, because I've told Mum."*
To me it seems more like it references the statement that his comedy is an attempts to give the audience what he can't give himself. By saying "I hope you're happy" he's hoping that we're happy, because he wasn't.
It's a bit of both but I'm glad someone other than me finally gets it, cuz most people are too stupid to understand what he really means
Amazing reaction Bo is so talented so much more to his music so much depth thanks so much love an God bless x
I just found out about Bo Burnham myself and also your channel. Great reaction to Bo Burnham..I found out about when another reactor i like happened to be doing a first time reaction to "Repeat Stuff" so that was my introduction to Bo Burnham that was about 4 to 6 weeks ago
In chronological order. What, Make Happy, Inside
Dude is a MASTER at misdirection. He always has a sort of pattern or theme within his schemes that seemingly reinforces itself enough that it makes you think you know exactly where he's going and bam, expectations subverted. fucking bait and switch.
Love your honesty
3:28 sounded so good what the heck
there are 2 great comedy based singers who touch on real issues that we all need to praise as gods for showing us the truth about the world in a fun way:
-Little Dicky
-Bo Burnham
They are the singers we need, but not the ones we deserve.
Why did I go from laughing to being sad đ
Yes watch them in entirety. Heâs extremely calculated. Also idk if people just arenât mentioning it. Heâs not just ranting on random burrito struggles. Heâs pointing out that some of these issues are self inflicted. And we blame instead of being self aware. Brilliant
Seriously though, it's unreal how much catharsis the end of this song still makes me feel
You should do a review or a reflection video of the specials after your watch em. Also his other special called âWhatâ is on CZcams. He bought it from Comedy Central and uploaded the entire thing so people could see it for free. His very first special is harder to find though
Yayy. You're finally reacting to itđ
He gave everyone a warning about his anxiety problems in this song
The "Goodnight, I hope you're happy" was in fact intended to be a "fuck you" to the audience, but at the final performance he was told to soften it, dial it back. Thus, the end result of the Netflix special MAKE HAPPY
You should totally react to the whole Inside special if you can. Not only because I'd love to watch it, but also because not many people are doing it so far (for some reason), and tons of people are really looking for the whole special reaction. ;)
Both Kanye and Bo are geniuses. Incredible performance.
The thing is there's so much symbolism in this starting from the Chipotle bit. Like imagine going through life and piling things on until it over flows without anyone warning you before hand. I always like that idea.
Ive always seen the Pringles can as his happiness that he is always reaching for but cant get himself. And he wants a daughter, because then she can reach into his can of happiness and bring it to him since he can't get the happiness himself.
The part to the audience is soul wrenching
The stuff that won't fit in the burrito is a metaphor for him taking on more than he could handle in his life
Words words words or Oh No. Or "are you happy" which follows this song after the special
I love that you appreciated his depth and that this was the before his break for healing.
Can't forget about Bo Burnham's special called "What." I believe it's also on Netflix.
Where you said ânot many comedy makes you laugh because you need the intelligence behind itâ I so feel you, I donât find a lot of modern day comedians funny. Bo Burnham was always my favorite comedian because even though he plays funny and sings silly songs he is most likely the smartest guy in the room. Half his stuff blows over peoples heads. He does so many words plays and so many skits that unless your intelligent you really wonât understand any of it!
I always saw this as a simulated panic attack. Gives me goose bumps every time.
To watch the specials in order: Words Words Words (no longer on Netflix but you can buy on CZcams), What., Make Happy, then Inside.
Thatâs a great observation I havenât seen another reactor say yet. Thematically this song and all eyes on me are very similar. All eyes on me is almost like the evolution or sequel of canât handle this
you gotta do How The World Works, the way he delivers the message is mind blowing!!
I love him! Seriously heâs so incredibly talented â€ïžâ€ïž
Parts of the specials that don't get uploaded... Lol like in Make Happy when Bo tricks the crowd into saying the n-word? đđ Fn hilarious!
First CD I ever bought was Boâs first album. Been in love with him for years!
"How the World Works" from Inside is pretty good. Not sure if the video is up yet, but the audio is.
I've been a fan of Bo since seeing him premiere doing stand up on Comedy Central when he was 17. He's always been this level of genius and funny and talent.
Great reaction. A lot of people who react to these miss how the song itself is really built around how Kanye was performing his act at the time. "Words Words Words" is great and the official video of "Repeat Stuff" is a pretty twisted commentary of pop music.
I get the line that everyone references the most but honestly.. that mic drop is what gets me every time. đ
I highly recommend Art Is Dead, Straight White Man... really all of Inside and Make Happy!
This whole thing is brilliant. Brutal but brilliant.
I wouldn't have got the lettuce if I knew it wouldn't fit.
This was his last performance before all eyes on me... he knew he needed to back away to better himself mentally. You said he is intelligent... you are correct.
Bo had a breakdown after this show. Cried for 2 hours. And stopped performing for 5 years. Panic attacks. The last scream was his panic.
My dude skipped the deepest line in the whole song lmao
Boâs rant was hella hella deep bro bro
other specials include "What" and "Words Words Words". also, some of the early youtube stuff that got him started include "New Math" and "I'm Bo Yo"
I saw him do this whole routine live, great show
"laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself" You missed what is by far the most impactful line of the whole song
Your reaction videos are the best.
acting is just reacting.đ„đ„
