No Witcher game did to my soul what Witcher 1 did. It felt like poetry. It filled my veins with longing I never knew existed. Longing for the world that I never experienced. I craved traveling vast fields and forests and swamps in search of melancholic solitude that would fill my soul to the brim with acceptance of the world that is older than we believe and has secrets that will never be fully discovered. I wanted to live there.

Ya, not often that a game is a work of art, i remember back in 07 when W1 was new it had super long load times for some reason, but was later patched, it did'nt matter i was playing something i wanted to be part of
Yes, Especially in this lake side area. I remember the feeling when entering Black Tern Island. The whole scenery feel so dreamy, alive like it can only existing in a book. I love the whole Witcher game serie, But in the 1st game that you can feel the labor of love from a very small game studio pouring everything they've got into their possible one and last game at that time being.
@@sidhartha5047 Yep, I remember it too, this game had issues with the loading screens and you had so many of them. The loading screen art is sick though!
I also remember that my PC could barely handle the merchant quarter as well, haha.
Am I alone in feeling like the Witcher 3 didn't live up to this expectation for some reason? I can't put my finger on what it is but despite the freedom and size of the third game, it doesn't *feel* like I'm exploring the world I saw in the distance of this game.
Those who just did The Witcher 3 don't know how magnificent is the first one. The sequels never reached the magic and the poetry from the original.

14 years ago, Witcher 1 come into the world, Lakeside, is most beautiful part, with soul, like first 2 books, one of the best OST in game world. Cheers.

Witcher 1 had the most atmospheric soundtrack of the whole series
I personally think Wild Hunt's got a somewhat better atmosphere, but it's a bit persistent since you spend a lot of the game in Vellen.
@@silverbro13 I agree that Wild Hunt has a great atmosphere, but in my opinion it was too colorful compared to the first game. I may be biased, but the grim setting fit Witcher better in my opinion. And the music itself is truly unique.

@@silverbro13 If you think that Velen is "absurdly grim" you've never played the first Witcher. Just look at Temple Quarter of Vizima and Old Vizima. Even the game's color pallette in W3 is more vibrant in any location compared to W1.

Those motes of green and red light rising from the lake are so beautiful. They are even more beautiful at night.
I wish there was night-time ambience for Lakeside.
I am traipsing around Loc Muinne in act 3 of The Witcher: Assassins of Kings, and I miss the beauty of this game.
The music in that area outside the ruined city was just breathtaking when combined with the visual sights

My favourite chapter was IV. Didn't drag, had the most beautiful locations, and you meet Berengar.
It was also probably the only place in the entire game where you had people, humans and non-humans, living in genuine peace with each other. There was some hesitation on either side, of course, but they still preferred to live in peace rather than try to wipe the other out. One of the most poignant shots in that chapter comes at the end where Geralt is sailing back to Vizima due to forced circumstances, and as he does so, he sees soldiers of the Eternal Flame marching into Murky Waters. War is coming. Intolerance is coming. The fragile, precious peace is soon to be shattered, likely permanently. Things will never be the same again. :(
@@Zaxares If that's how you see it. I sided with the Order.
@@matro2 Was it because of Siegfried? I liked Siegfried too. I think he's a good man. But unfortunately most in the Order do not share his beliefs. Most of the Order soldiers you talk to are pretty militant and have less than favourable opinions of non-humans. (In fact, I believe Siegfried is the only one who ever espouses the belief that non-humans, including Witchers, are welcome to join the Order.)
I think Siegfried would be best served by splitting off to form his own organization, one with a more enlightened and tolerant worldview. If you side with him and he becomes Grandmaster, PERHAPS he can reform the Order, but he is just one man and I fear he will not be able to do it all by himself. (Especially in a world like the Witcher's where noble dreams and ideals are often dashed upon the merciless rocks of reality.)
this song always brings me back to that school trip, maybe 6 or 7 years back, when i finally found a moment to be alone with her, right in front of a lake, sating below a willow, at night, when everybody were sleeping. Our relation was never meant to be but at least i had a moment with that girl wich i cant forget.

Well ok so, no I’d say there is a 1% chance they can make the remake as atmospheric and immersive as the original, and that’s not nostalgia talking I only played this game for 1st time last year, I just truely don’t think it can be done and is a fools errand (although if they pull it off I will happily praise it)
Played it on hard during quarantine. The combat system is awkward and I was pissed off by the clunky controls until I mastered it and it ended being one of the best games I've ever had the luck to play. It was a unique experience. I remember I was stuck at the first boss until I realized you need to level up by completing secondary quests and upgrade a sign. Played 1, 2 and 3 in a row and even though I prefer 3, this one is close. I think I'll play it again from the beginning.
Witcher 1 soundtrack is for reading the books. It fits in every moment. Try it.

Espero que a CD mantenha inspiração nessas trilhas maravilhosas no The Witcher remake. Esse jogo foi totalmente subestimado em sua época, pois é simplesmente magnífico, espetacular e fantástico.
Just like Bread and Butter. I recommended anyone to try this. Make your room comfortable turn this on a loop and reading the Witcher book while listening to this.
It's a pity that this place can't be visited in Witcher 3 Wild Hunt with Roach and this soundtrack is played or the other one at night. I want to see this place with Witcher 3 graphics. CDPR should make a mod for this region at lake near Wyzima
