i remember sneaking to the living room at 11 years old, turning on the ps3 and playing this game for the first time. my dad told me not to; i was too young for it, he said. I didn't realize the volume was on, and when the title screen came up, I woke my father up. He walks in and I'm scared ill get grounded, but instead, he laughs quietly and sits with me, lowers the volume, and teaches me how to do the first mission. 12 years later, it's still one of my fondest memories. We still play together !!!
He was waiting for the day. I tell you this as a fellow father. ❤
@@denialater7775 Indeed, every kid does this at some point.

bad dad, carry on
I always abused fast travel when I was younger but now I’ve realised that taking time travelling the roads and experiencing all the sights, sounds, ambience and encounters on the journey is really what makes the game shine.
Glad you corrected your error
correct bro, survival mode force you to explorer area. even some area had transportation to go, but some area do not have and you are force to travel with your horse.
I also enjoyed this as a werewolf. Sprinting constantly. Enjoying being fast and strong. I really got to enjoy exploring the nature of Skyrim like the first time
Same with Far Cry Primal.
maturing in gaming is not using fast travel XD
Can we all have a moment of silence for our first Skyrim characters..
SERIOUSLY. My first one was a white haired Breton named "Geralt", of course. Only because I wanted to play the Witcher 2, but didn't have a 360, nor a PC. Then, upon doing the college of winterhold quest, like.... 36 hours in, my PS3 bricked on me when I jumped down from a ledge to the ground. My mans Geralt never landed. RIP.
Elick, the axe and shield weilding Nord. Long blonde hair and beard.
Mine was an Orc . I had Daedric armor but no enchantments cause they didn’t appeal to me at the time . I was always getting SMOKED by master mages . Didn’t understand why they did so much damage until I truly learned and mastered the game . I like playing as elves now. Usually high elf
"Norcun" is my first character I have over 60 days with him
I'll never forget Rory, killed everyone in Whiterun, never learned that these AIs dont regenerate
I think one of the best feelings is when you spend hour fighting in some nordic or dwemer ruins where you have to constantly be on the lookout for danger, but then you exit that place and it's finally a moment of peace: there's no danger, no horrible death sounds, just a clear starry night, the sound of crickets and an amazing soothing soundtrack.
Dont forget the new shout or the new weapon 😂
And then a dragon just spawned
And then you come across bandits on the roads and it’s ruined
Fr bruh😂👌🏾
The dragon “I’m about to end this mans whole career”
Once you’ve gotten into Skyrim you never really stop being into it; be it weeks, months or years between builds, you always go back.

One of the best things in Skyrim is to just walk the roads at night. Even if you get attacked in random encounters, or get a greeting from a stranger, it's just so nice walk. I guess nighttime in games feels the same way it does in real life if you're free by then. You're alone and enjoying yourself in solitude, events left in the day will shine though eventually, but they can wait, because the night is yours to conquer.
Beautifully put
The stars and moon looks magnificent in the night and with the ost it is truly beautiful
especially if you are on survival mode or running frostfall mod. night + rain or winter is combination of death. 🤣also swimming on low temperature area is bad joke.

It's funny, my wife and I fall asleep to Skyrims soundtrack every single night. And this year we checked out apple music stats to see which songs we had listened to the most and we had hit top 100 Jeremy Soule listeners in the world with 164,000 minutes of Skyrim music listened to this year, and top 100 listeners of video game music in the world. It's just crazy to me that even though I'm not always in Skyrim, I truly make my real home feel like Skyrim with it's music and atmosphere. What a timeless masterpiece this game will always be.
Thanks! We just signed up for Apple Music a little while ago and didn't think to look for Skyrim music there.

"What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"
―Paarthurnax
to be born good then to have been transformed in evil and overcome it through great effort.
It takes absolute courage and strengths to overcome such evil nature, i think that one is better because if you were born good, it doesn't make you good believe it or not, a person who knows their capable of evil actions and because they choose to be good!
But a good person is someone who knows they can be evil, but still choose to be good!
I just got to that recently
Even more mind twisting when you realize that's the same voice actor as Mario

I love how my parents would always tell me that I was wasting my time playing skyrim. That I wasn't making good memories, and will regret not doing something else when I'll get older. 11 years later and Boy were they wrong.
Just hearing this game music brings a sense of peace and nostalgic joy that I've pretty much never experience before.
I love video games. I love skyrim.
I always found it funny when people said video games were a waste of time, that they rot your brain and use up the limited hours of your life for meaningless escapism. My goal in life is simply to experience, and some of my most memorable moments come from gaming
Everything is meaningless, surprisingly few people are going to remember you, and we all end up dead anyway. Our parents (and us, to a certain extent) have a weird obsession with being remembered, but that's just not fun. If life is to be enjoyed, then why do I have to do something unenjoyable in my free time?
The only memories that matter are the ones I take to my grave, so I might as well remember a lot of things I like.

I play Skyrim with my seven years old son on a regular basis now.
And he absolutely loves it. he absolutely wanted to play as a wizard Argonian and his favourite activity is to swim in the ocean or in the rivers of Skyrim.
Everytime he sees a waterpoint he deviates from his quest and just enjoys the moment. That's so cute.
The game is so immersive. And when we finish a quest and i tell him "ok boy that's enough play for the day", he absolutely wants to go to an INN, take a meal and then sleep for 7-8 hours.

I have quite possibly spent 10,000+ hours on this game. I was a poor kid, and we couldnt afford the dlcs back then. I just played the base game, and was satisfied for literal years. On the xbox 360, my first character was a nord who was named "Prisoner" because I pressed the enter button on accident. Back then I never would have guessed that I would eventually know literally everything there is to know about this game. I would completely max out dozens of characters, never getting bored. I would find every location and do every quest, hundreds of times over. I would buy every house, get every daedric artifact, and become thane of every hold, and I would always love every second. When the ps4 came out, i bought dragonborn and dawnguard, and another thousand hours went into mastering everything I could do in that content. It was never a chore, spending hours sneaking around the bear and attacking ralof or hadvar in the helgen cave to max my sneak and one handed before ever leaving helgen. Then leaving helgen and speedrunning through embershard and anises cabin to get the smithing book and potion of invis. It was just fun. One shotting the ebony warrior on legendary is an indescribable sense of accomplishment. No game has ever provided such profound memories and fun as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and I still play to this day. I have a very deep emotional connection to this game, and it has certainly helped make me into the person I am today. Thanks Bethesda.

One time I hadn’t played Skyrim for almost a year, then I saw it, the Daedric armour, I grounded for it and eventually got the whole set then went to finish the main story, then a few months later my brother spilled MTN on my disk and it don’t work anymore
Man, Secunda brings back a lot of memories, of traveling through Skyrim at night and just admiring the beauty of the auroras, stars, and planets. What a game. I'll never forget my first character I completed the game with: Bodvar Bear-Heart. A Nord warrior with long blonde hair and a beard, tribal warpaint on his scarred face, heavy armored and weilding a greatsword. I'll never forget all the journeys across Skyrim, finally slaying Alduin, and then later on Harkon and Miraak, saving the land countless times. Then, finally, hanging up the dragonbone armor and sword, settling down in Solitude with Aela and two adopted children, Lucia and Sophie. Corny as it may sound, Skyrim was a big part of my life at one point when I was fresh out of high school and still finding myself. I still come back to it, even today.
2011 and still, today; this game has been undefeated. What an amazing conquest of love and storytelling. Honestly; the most profound masterful piece of video game design and creation. Thank you to the studio; who dreamt up this madness of complex tales about ordinary people and heroes. From the most fantastic wonders; to the dialogue of mysteries. There is no end; this continuum of complex. And here; I am in 2024. Aging into my days; younger than I want to believe, my added work. I don’t know a single other game that treats every single area as such a core part of the game including the music as well as Skyrim does.
I used to be an adventurer like you.
Then adult life hit me in the knee.
It’ll hit us all unfortunately.
Yep 😥😥😥

I remember like it was yesterday ... I was only 10 years old when a friend of mine from swimming classes recommended this game to me. Without knowing much about it, I asked my mom for it in my birthday and received a gift that totally changed the course of my life. I started playing Skyrim and little by little I became enchanted by the game, the beautiful snowy landscapes and the welcoming atmosphere made me love the same. I remembered every corner of the map, knew the npcs by name, loved all the music on the soundtrack and there was always a new adventure to explore, from the stone valleys of Markarth to the remote island of Solstheim, I fell in love with it all. I could build a house, get married, have children, learn more about that mysterious world and become the great hero that everyone needed, it was like a dream coming true. I remember spending several mornings at school sad and without mood because of constant bullying, but always being able to come home and having a moment of fantasy, a home in that game ... Over time, I became interested in lore, and consequently, I became interested in the medieval period. I started to read several books about the medieval period and I became interested in general history, and therefore, today I study to become a diplomat and be able to not only study history, but make history. And it wasn't just this, loving the music of the game, I started to become interested in classical music, listening to an old CD of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and falling in love with classical music, which made me change as a person. Skyrim changed me, I can no longer go back to the game and play normally because I have spent an eternity in that fantasy world and today I no longer have time for it, but I will never forget the times in which I became a werewolf, fought dragons, helped an ancient vampire to prevent the sun from being destroyed, raised a family and several other adventures that I witnessed in this masterpiece. Thank you very much, Skyrim.
I hope you are doing well sir and I wish you the best of lucks in your study
Good luck, I hope you remember me when your famous lol
Wow.
Wait, your only 18, and already studying to be a diplomat? Skyrim was released november 11, 2011, so I guess you could be 19, but since the game was recommended to you, some time since its release must have passed.
Same dude, brings back so much nostalgia 😢
This takes me back to summer nights, staying awake late as a kid and walking around in skyrim, the window to my room open and the fresh summer air filling the room. I always felt like I was there, walking through the forests of Skyrim. It was a nice escape, and the music was so comforting.
I listen to this at night with a fan on so I feel the wind you hear in the background
Listen this, I image myself in skyrim, or anything different fantasy world. How i want in real life to feel a spirit of exploration new territories, to see unbeliveble places. Now I cant do this.
But Listen, i just replace there.
For me, a man, who once read The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, i cant image myself without fantasy. And i so much love fantasy, that i started write a book about it. Thanks TES: Skyrim, Herous Might and Magic 3, Witcher 1(2,3). Thanks J.R.R.T.
P.S. Sorry from my English, i am not from English spoken countries. Just a lesson in school.

There's really nothing quite like the first few times you play Skyrim. The sense of wonder at such a vast world, how your choices feel almost endless.
There’s just something that draws us back. Even after several playthroughs and hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours, there’s still always something to find.
I played this when I was like seven and I got so scared of the wolves I had to stop.
Wish I could forget everything and experience it all again
until you find the trolls in the caves..............
I still have it after my 20th character
Just started Skyrim. Can’t believe I missed out on playjng this when I was a kid. The world feels so alive and real.
I stopped playing this game for almost a decade. Now I got it again with the Special Edition, getting into mods, and the game gives me the same peace I had back then, except peace is so much more useful now. And honestly, despite all the graphics mods and the combat mods and the crazy lore and all that, I think the thing that keeps me coming back is just listening to the soundtrack while walking around. You can probably save yourself a couple racks on therapy by just walking around Skyrim and I'm dead serious about that.
It's weird, and pretty amazing, when a game feels like home
"A nord's last thoughts should be of home"
Omg that so true!!! I don’t know why but Skyrim feels like home... I wish I could live in this amazing world!

MY defining memory of Skyrim is the first big mission I did, getting the mission for healing the tree in Whiterun from the temple priestess - I ended up with a pip on the eastern end of the map, and just decided to follow the river in the direction, meeting the bandits at Vaftheim Towers. It was just so big and free
I assure you everybody in here would love to be right where you are. To experience it all over again. Man what I wouldn't give to have that magic back in this day and age. Good travels!
have fun, immerse yourself in one of the ONLY universes I could truly do so. Many nights I escaped the boredom of reality/depression/feelings/highschool BS in Skyrim!

Still remember like it was yesterday: Imagine a warm summer evening, the window was open and a light breeze crawled through my room. I didn’t worry about school, holidays just began. I spent the whole night exploring cave after cave, climbed the highest mountains and fought off giants and trolls. Then i found out i just played the „intro“, i just found out i am the dragonborn. Suddenly it hit me like a truck. I just couldnt stop playing, a feeling that i Never felt again until this day came over me. The urge to explore, i forgot about time and completely indulged into it. The night was over and the sun slowly started to rise. And i knew, this will be an epic journey.
Thank you for this video. It brought up memories i completely forgot about even existing. There is nothing like playing Skyrim, it turns night and you realize its 3 am in real life. hits different... like reality kicks in... its peaceful but engulfs your whole being.
0:00 Skyrim was always my escape game. I had always been pretty close to it, since it was one of the first games I had ever played, and was really the first that had stuck with me since, to the point where I still play the Special Edition to this day. And this was always the theme which reminded me of those simpler times, and the escape that the game offered to me. This game is home to me, in a world that can be infinitely more shitty than Tamriel.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
This game was there for me through so much, bullying in school, to the deaths of family members, abuse and assault, i wrote my first book and published it to Skyrim’s ambiance. I wrote my university dissertation to it and the first song I listened to after my graduation was the Dragonborn comes.
Elder scrolls became a way of life, an escape from the bad and I remember less on the bad moments, the really horrifying moments in life and remember more of Jarls, joining the dark brotherhood, riding shadowmare and sitting by a fire in whiteruns travel listening to endless bard songs and who can forget Lydia... and her annoyingly standing in your way...all...the... time.
Skyrim is a whole other life. If I die and I wake up on my way ton helgen... well... I’d be so damn ready.

Tonight I walked my dog while listening to this. It was dark, my light only reaching a few feet in front of me. I had clear vision in front of my steps, but beyond was just shapes and shadows. The forest surrounding both sides of the road, the snow and ice around us. I would stop sometimes because I thought I heard something in the woods, or footsteps behind me. Seeing shadows ahead, imagining it is an animal or someone else. But I walk ahead and reach the point, and it was just the night and shadows tricking me. Walking while listening to the songs of skyrim and the wind around me, I felt like I was transferred back to when I first played skyrim. The world is beautiful and the unknown can be fearful. But it is worth exploring forwards and explore, to see what is out there. Just like skyrim. Sometimes it feels like we go through life on legendary difficulty and it can be hard to move forward. But on that walk, everything felt simple. Even if it was only for a little while, I had this moment with myself, my dog, the woods, the night sky and skyrim. Thank you for reading my cheesy story.
It was pleasure for me bro

Sometimes the Skyrim night sky is so amazing, I stop playing just to stare. When the moons are out, I'm incredibly entranced. That is until a sabrecat sneaks up and bites my bum. 😕⚔️
I've always thought they did a really nice job with the sky in that game, all the landscapes are interesting. Sometimes the night sky just outside my window at home has the same effect. I don't know whether you live in a city with a lot of light pollution or not, but if you can I'd recommend getting a stargazer app for nights when the sky is clear. When the constellations are included it's fun to know their stories too. It's kind of neat to think that at one point the night sky used to be one of the only shared experiences and storytelling mediums for people.
