This is the single most exciting musical instrument I've seen in a couple of years, and I do try to catch all of the NAMM and Musicmesse coverage. I've loved the idea of the original foot drum but was always a bit put aback by the fact that you couldn't put an extra cymbal on one of the toe posts but now you have totally sold me on this. Have drooled all over my keyboard and gotta start planning the budget to getting one of those 12 pedal options. Is it correct that the price for the original configuration was lowered? Or is it just because of the simplified bass and snare drum. And on the side note, were you ever considering a midi controller version of the foot drum? One of the things that the foot drum got so right is the pedal placement so it'd be an interesting thing to see it emerge as a stripped down midi controller version (An entry level foot drum maybe?) Pete, you're a genius. It is such an amazing idea and I hope it will be recognized as it should.

I have the v4 Footdrum kit, which attracts attention at every gig, and a custom Backbeat for another project ... but a 12-pedal kit with the posts for extra stuff ... I may have to place another order. I'll start saving.
man, these keep getting better. The magnetic features are pretty compelling, the strap, the external cymbals.... wow What advantages do the metal foot pedals give vs wood ? why was that developed ?
The metal pedals were an attempt to be more "drum kit" like to allay any fears from people that the wood wouldn't be strong enough. The wood pedals are about .75" thick so they are certainly compensated for. So far we find it about 50/50 on the orders thus far. Hope this helps.
At this time it is an 18" Maple Shell 4" deep with a 1.5" deep Maple Counterhoop. The bass head a nice warm thumping clear SK1 by Aquarian drumheads. The counterhoop color will match the color of the body of the FootDrum, but the bass shell is Golden Mahogany like the sides of the FD. It can very quickly removed and played separately if you want (spurs and bass drum pedal sold separately). I hope this helps. Please visit www.footdrums.com if you have any other questions.
