Peggy comin’ thru with the truth! Thank you
You are so welcome. I try to be fair and honest. I'm not here to bash anyone, but I can't in good conscience overlook things that I find questionable. Thank you for watching!
That is a long drive to be frustrated..bless your heart
It was a long way, for sure! I don't regret it. I had to find out for myself what it was like. Now I know. 😊 Thanks for watching.
That was a long drive for a confusing price range especially after going through the process of selecting the plant you want.
Funny you should mention going through the process of selecting plants. With so many plants, it took me forever to look over the plants I wanted and to find the ones in the best condition. I was not a happy camper when I went to pay. On the other hand, it was nice seeing all of the plants in person and it was a trip I wanted to take. However, I don't know that I will be making that trip again. Thanks for watching.
This place looks really interesting, but the pricing seems overly confusing if not slightly shady.
The plant selection was wonderful, but the pricing had me seriously confused. It's hard to shop when you don't know the prices. Thanks for watching.
Another great and informative video Peggy! I totally agree with you, spending your time to find a plant you like only to find out it's unaffordable is a killjoy. The price changes also make me feel bias is playing apart in their decision making process. Yes, plants can have a range in prices due to size and availability. The fact that no one seemed to agree on a standard price for that range is suspicious to me.
I understand a price range, but I was being charged prices far beyond the range. That's what got me going. 😮😧
Thanks Peg. Even though this is a year old vid... I look at EVERYTHING Ecuagenera.
You did a smashing job... all things considered. The typical cool headed Peggy assessment. Just what serious collectors need.
Thank you!
Thanks for the tour 😍🤩💞
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for watching!
Thanks Peggy for the trip and sharing with us....I had always been curious and now I know😀
You are very welcome. Thanks for stopping by!🌿💚
Honestly, I thought most of the plants were in bad shape. A lot of droopy and yellow leaves. They're in the plant business for crying out loud! More of them should look healthier. Thanks for taking the time to show this to us!
I was surprised by the number of plants that seemed to be struggling also. I guess they may have been recent imports, although I don't know. Thanks for watching.
I'm pretty shocked that their prices are not listed. I've ordered from them over a dozen times and you can't find better prices or selection anywhere. However, a third of the plants (at least the ones I received) either need major rehabbing, came unrooted, or die from shock. Things have been getting better over the past year. Thanks for sharing this tour of their nursery. You saved me a visit :)
There is a price list, but many plants are not on the list and I was being asked to pay prices other than what the price list stated. I have the same issue with plants I've ordered from them as well as the ones I purchased from them at the nursery. Thanks for watching!
This was extremely helpful and your voice is really nice to listen to!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!🌿💚
That was very informative. Thank you Peggy
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Very informative video. Many thanks for the time and efforts you put in to making it. You were generous as always. Enjoyable as always!! 🌿🪴👏👌
My pleasure. Thank you for watching. I appreciate you!🌿💚
Thank you for the tour! 🌿
You are so welcome!
Thank you for your input. Very thorough
My pleasure!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been browsing on their site everyday for the past couple of weeks. My first of two orders is coming later this week. Thanks to your video, I’ve added a couple of plants to my wishlist!
You are so welcome! Be sure to check the roots of the plants you receive for root rot or lack of roots. Enjoy your new plants and thanks for watching.
Love watching this video , it helps a lots by giving me lots of idea , once again thank you and see you later .
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Glad that you shared!! This was interesting. Thanks
Glad you found it interesting. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for making this video!
You are so welcome!
Thanks Peggy ❤️ We appreciate the efforts for our knowledge and aware ness
You are so welcome
Thank you thank you 😊I've always wanted to visit their plant shop but because of your very informative video I'll keep doing online ordering be safe take care.
It was very fun seeing all of the plants in person, but the pricing was confusing, to say the least. I find ordering online much easier, although I noticed the prices recently jumped quite a bit. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the tour! Sorry for the aggravation.
No worries. I enjoyed checking the place out. Of course I would have loved to come home with a car full of plants, but look at the money I saved. 😊 That's my plant psychology! 😂
Thank you for showing us
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
OMG, what a treat Peggy. I am looking forward to visiting one day. Thanks for sharing planty friend.
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching!
Very interesting place and I have been tempted by their website. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are welcome. I'm pleased you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Thanks again for the informative vlog. You sound like you’re a kind person☺️
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Thank you for doing this video i found it very interesting about the prices but wow some of those plants were absolutely gorgeous!!!! Can’t wait to see what you bought!!!😊
You are very welcome. They have some amazing plants that I had never seen before. It was nice to be able to check them out. I'll be sharing my purchase soon! Thanks for watching.
Thank you, Peggy. You saved me a trip.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful alocacias!
They really were! Thanks for watching.
Definitely some beautiful plants there. 💚🌿💚
I think so too. Thanks for watching.
I got so excited when I saw the title for your video! Thank you for the lovely and very informative tour. I have a plant-trade-friend who lives near there and he told me he would shop for me if I wanted. But with all that uncertainty, I would feel bad sending him to shop on my behalf!
His experience may be totally different from mine. It would be interesting to see how things go for him. On the other hand, the prices on their website are the same or lower than at their location, at least in my experience. Thanks for watching and best of luck.
Oh.... I'd go straight to the orchid section 😍😍
I almost went there and decided against it. I was there so long looking at Aroids, I ran out of time.
Great video i am in the UK so i just love to see the beautiful plants that we cannot normally get here, thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Love that philodendron rotunda!
Me too!
💚 Thank you.
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching.
thank you for the video
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
Ugh. That would have made me so annoyed too. Thats one of my pet peeves, not having things clearly priced. Fun tour though. Thanks Peggy! ❤🙌🌿
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I would say nope to this whole place. No roots and price gouging. Glad you made the trip.
I can understand that. Thanks for watching.
Checking in! 💚🌿💪🏾👸🏾
Thanks for stopping by! 🌴🌿💚
Peggy, you have to remember when you want something from Ecuagenera that is not on the website, you just ask. They may have what you want. I was able to obtain some unpublished species that way. I have gone to plant shows to pick up pre-ordered plants and have never been disappointed. Their show prices always seem to be quite a bit more than what I paid.
Yes, I'm actually aware of that, but thanks for sharing. I have seen them at shows and yes, the prices there are closer to the going rate than on their website. It's a good idea to order ahead and pick up at the shows, like you did. Thanks for watching!
I have been there 2 times and you are absolutely right with the pricing and condition of the plants.
I feel better knowing that it wasn't just me. I tried to just state the facts and was hoping I wasn't being overly critical.
That’s not what I expected. Thank you for going all the way there for tour. I imagine they don’t want to put prices on so they aren’t held down to a “number”. Then they can increase at any time. Fluidity 😣. Things are too expensive right now. I’m just going to be repotting the ones I have for now. LoL. Thank you Peggy for the great tour !
It was not what I expected either. I just knew I would be coming home with a car full of plants. That didn't happen! 😂
@@PeggysPlants that’s kinda sad. Really.
Thanks for sharing, they need to get it together with the prices and organization .
I think it would be beneficial for them to do so. Thanks for watching.
Hmmm, very interesting. It would be aggravating shopping there. I would’ve been like you, pick a plant & go see how much it is only to put it back. Glad you found 2 plants to purchase to make the trip worthwhile. Thanks for sharing Peggy.
It was nice to see all of the plants and I don't regret going. I do regret that my car wasn't full of plants when I left. 😂
@@PeggysPlants lol, that would be my regret, as well.
Man this seem like a really nice place to go but with those iffy prices I would have probably not have been as sweet as you especially driving so far to shop but I can appreciate this video because now we have an idea on what to expect.
I'm glad I went. It was nice seeing all of the plants. The prices put a slight damper on things but I still don't regret going. Thanks for watching.
thanks for taking a hit for us, it's defiantly not on my list of things to do now. How bizarre that two ladies discussed what to charge you, and wanted to charge beyond the price list range! It would have been a terrible decision for me to make, but the lack of tons of money would have decided for me.
that said, I know the original Ecuagenera in Ecuador has a nice history of it's funding and that they have tried to be ethical in how they operate. It's obvious seeing the stock of many "rare plant shops" that their main stock comes from them, or even their genetic material, but with the price augmented a hundred times... it makes sense that they would be tired of making others money. I am not sure I have this right, but I think Ecuagenera was funded as a christian run nursery for charity purposes, I don't know if they still operate that way. I hope I am not totally wrong about this.
I went to check out with 7 plants (I think that's how many) and ended up purchasing 2. There were a few more things I was interested in, but after the pricing situation, I passed. I feel like I'm better off ordering from the website. At least then I know what the prices are. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing very surprised on prices
Probably not as surprised as I was. 😂 Thanks for watching.
It is an awsome facility. Went last year since it's about 1 1/2 hours away. The price thing is a little aggravating for sure. Hope you had fun. 🍃🥀🍃
They do have some amazing plants and it was nice to see them all. I don't regret going but wish the pricing had not been an issue. Thanks for watching.
That place would drive me crazy! Plants didn't look wonderfully healthy and the price range would definitely not work for me either:) Thanks for making the trip
It was an interesting trip for sure. Seeing all of the different prices was nice, but the pricing....
Hopefully after they catch wind of this video, their in house pricing is much more simple and less shady. Thank you for shooting this. I've often thought of visiting the shop in person, but I may just stick to online shopping now.
It's nice to see all of the plants, but I will be sticking to ordering online. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! The monstera radicans...I really wish they had those available online! It's nice to be able to see some of the ones that don't have pictures online too. I think you had some great ideas for them organizationally like generally arranging the plants w/ a price spectrum based on general price. I wonder if they could communicate internally on price tiers based off number of leaves, nodes, or amount of roots/pot sizing...so that if someone tried to say 'oh I found this in the $100-$150 section they would know whether the person was correct, but then generally customers could have a better sense of what the plants will cost, and maybe end up leaving the nursery having spent more altogether too!
Agreed. I really dislike going shopping anywhere that doesn't have items priced. I believe that the easier you make things for your customers, the more willing they are to shop and make purchases. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your time and your tour it was very interesting and educational. I have a small greenhouse About 20 by 30 I'm looking to invest in rare Philadelphia's
Glad it was helpful. Your greenhouse sounds exciting. Enjoy!
Peggy I think the reason that there is a price range is because for the smaller plants or plants with damaged leaves those of the plants on the lower end of the scale so when you sat there and picked the most perfect most beautiful largest one with three leaves of course they’re going to charge you the most (400) for that one more than they would for a damaged queen anthuriim with one leaf that was small (100)
That's what I thought too, but it wasn't the case. One of the plants I selected was quite battered and I was still given the highest price. I couldn't make any sense of the pricing. I will stick to their online store for future purchases. It's just easier for me. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing! Prices can be confusing. I would probably picked everything expensive but I love Ecuagenera. I just placed and order lol
I think the website is the way to go with this company, and it's how I will do business with them in the future. Enjoy your new plants!
Great video! Thank you. Interesting to see as someone from California who can't exactly drive there easily (LOL)
Glad you enjoyed it!
thanks so much for making this video, it was an eye opener! I absolutely hate when things aren't priced and I would have been very upset to spend a bunch of time picking out a plant only to find out it was too expensive. I also am not a haggler, I just want the prices to be clearly stated so I can make a decision. Just the thought of that has me seriously reconsidering going, it would be a long drive and I am not sure worth the hassle.
If you happen to be in the area, I would say it's worth stopping by. Otherwise, I tend to stick to the website. Thanks for watching!
I just purchased the anthurium regale with 30cm leaf for only $100. Definitely much cheaper online than at the physical location.
For sure! Enjoy your Regale and thanks for watching!
Yes they are raising prices fast! Last year I got furcatum for 40 and now 200
It's looking as though their prices will soon be close to the average US prices. To do that they are going to have to improve the quality of their product. Hopefully, I'm wrong about the prices, but it seems that's where they are heading.
I am in Illinois. I have been waiting for better weather and a little extra money so I could plan a trip here. Thank you so much for your input. I think I will just do some mail ordering instead. The price fluctuating is very upsetting. I would not be very happy if I drove all that way and end up being disappointed about pricing. Thank you so very much for doing this video 😊
You are very welcome. They have some great plants but the pricing situation was very off putting.
Wow, Peggy! It’s like I’m jealous and annoyed at the same time 😂 I would have lost my cool at the register. Now I need to know what you got!?!
I will be doing a haul video soon. 😆 I'm glad I went to check things out, but there were definitely some things that were annoying about the experience. Thanks for watching.
Operating a nursery has many aspects to it. It sounds like they haven’t got their act together yet. Hopefully management sorts it out. In a good nursery plants that are not yet of a certain quality standard and need to grow more to be ‘ready’ aren’t offered for sale.
Very true. 🌿💚
Thanks for the tour and input. The price ranges sound confusing and frustrating.
You are welcome. The pricing was indeed confusing and frustrating. Thanks for watching!🌿💚
The first two tables on the right when you walk in are set aside for their wholesale bueyrs who place orders for pickup. Ecuagenera does a good job of giving their wholesale ( bulk ) buyers the better plants that come out of the apopka location. What is left on the rest of the tables requires some serious sorting.
They told me they were plants that had already been sold, but it was nice to see what was there. They were clearly the cream of the crop. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for doing this tour. I was curious about the place but the vague pricing would be an issue for me. I won’t bother visiting.
You are so welcome. I believe I prefer ordering from their website. Thanks for watching.
It is amazing how many different plants available. Bummer on the pricing.
They have such a large variety of plants I'd never seen before. It was like an Aroid wonderland...until the pricing snapped me back to reality. 😮 Thanks for watching🌿💚
Very informative and also a shame that they can’t get it together. I have grown a very large variety of plants, palms and fruits and the biggest pet peeve is nurseries that are unorganized and don’t have prices. The min they are just making up prices I’m leaving. So in my experience with them, I feel that the Ecuadorian website vs. their US website has better pricing. I have the advantage of living in South Florida so the two times a month that they ship to the US into MIA I receive my order immediately and i can start acclimating them directly outdoors because we are subtropical.
That was my experience when I lived in the Keys. The shipments came in quickly and the plants were normally in good condition. It was also nice to be able to grow everything outdoors.
I finally found my ZZ Raven.
Yay! I'm happy for you. It's such a beautiful plant. Enjoy your Raven!🌿💚
I'm glad you're in my park regarding plant prices, I would not pay that kind of money for a plant either. It's worrying how expensive plants are getting. I try to impart this on my subscribers. Love your channel 💚
Thank you! Plants can only sell for what people are willing to pay and everyone sets their own limits. I don't have a problem with that, but I know what my limit is and the plants I wanted were way beyond my limit. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I have been ordering from Ecuangenera at both site USA and Ecuador , and yes they have different prices , its lower prices at Ecuador than USA, but the shipping is higher for Ecuador than USA shipping. :D . They have the Anthurium Regeal at the Ecuador website for $ 100. 00 . but $400. 00 , maybe, not. Its better to order onsite.
Thanks for sharing. I've never ordered from the Ecuador site before, but have been toying with the idea. In the meantime I'm rehabbing several plants I purchased from them now, so my hands are full. Thanks for watching!
I would’ve been pissed to With the fluctuating price. Guess I would have better Luck on their website And the shipping you said is excellent.
That's the route I will be taking in the future. It will save on gas and frustration! 😂 Thanks for watching.
Peggy, I certainly agree with you. I don't like to be bull__sh__ted. I will not be doing business with Ecuagenera. Those people need to get organized because they're not the only Coca Cola in the desert. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing for this vid. I'm going to a wedding in Florida next month and want to visit this place. Would you recommend placing an online order for wishlist plants and picking them up at the nursery so there's no confusion with the price? Or is it better to just wait and visit the nursery? Thanks for sharing your experience with them.
I prefer to order online, where there is only one price. When I went to the nursery, prices seemed random. I received much larger plants for lower prices, when I ordered from the website.
@@PeggysPlants Thanks for the advice!
Its a price range because the smaller pot size is the lower price (likely smaller pots were sold out). And the larger pots are the higher price of the range.
I understand that, but there's no way of telling what is what. Also, I was being asked to pay prices which were beyond what was on the price list. That, I don't understand at all.
Thanks for the great and honest review. It seems like the company rushed to establish a U.S. site and they don't have their management or nursery organization together. That pricing is a red flag. Since they gave you a price of $400 for the Queen Anthurium, could they show you what a $100 Queen Anthurium looks like? That arbitrary pricing is definitely not a good look.
I totally agree since the price charged was not even within the price range listed. I hope they are able to work out some of the issues. It would be nice to have a reliable US seller of hard to find plants at a reasonable price.
It's interesting, that subhastatum that you picked up in the video, I saw on the website for about $40. Pricing seems really inconsistent here. Hm..
It is inconsistent, unfortunately. Thanks for watching.
Are most of these specimens grown or were they ripped from a forest in Ecuador?
I've always wondered about this.
The volume and variety just don't add up to me. I don't get a "fully cultivated plant" feel.
ANYBODY KNOW FOR SURE??
Having visited one of their nurseries, I can say that many of their plants are grown on site.
So the range in prices seems to be a newer thing. When I first visited them last year they didn't have multiple sizes... it was just one size. I think they're doing that because their main customers are people coming here and buying the plants in bulk and flipping them in their own websites or on FB purges. They probably want to make more money off of those really large size plants so they're not completely losing out compared to what the plant flippers make.
The prices not varying based on condition is also something that always bugged me. I've been there before when all the rare anthurium of one type were all stumps. And I was still told it was the full price. I'm not interested in buying a stump.
That is so true. The price for a totally damaged plant is the same as a perfect plant. As far as the prices overall, I don't mind them charging whatever they want to charge, as long as I know the price prior to going to pay for it. Thanks for watching Holly!
Have you ordered from the Ecuador site?
Yes, I have.
Omd I would be sooo annoyed with the pricing I’m even agitated hearing about it lol I hope they learn from this like what reason would they have for pricing in such a way??? Weird behaviour I would definitely be that customer with the constructive criticism😅 anyway thanks for the beautiful content I love to look at aroids but I’m much more of a Hoya head. Love from London xx 🌱
I was so shocked when the woman told me the prices. I was not expecting anything so high. 😮 I'm happy I was able to stop by and check the place out so I could at least see some plants I'd never seen before in person. Thanks for stopping by to watch the video, even if it wasn't hoyas! 🌿💚
do they ship it with the pots or bare root?
Recent orders have come with the pot. However, I have received plants from them bare root also.
The most I’ve paid for a plant was $38 Including shipping .
Thanks for sharing.
18:56 Peggy did they have plenty of these? Or Just that one you found there?
It's been a few weeks, but I believe that was the only one I saw when I was there.
@@PeggysPlants Ok thanks, because i think i got the one you picked up lol. I called right after seeing your post
Lol I'm going up there in a couple weeks.
That's great. I hope your trip is a good one. Enjoy!
You should email the sales office in Ecuador of Ecuagenera-Elizabeth is the sales head, something's fishy with the staff in Florida..
Thanks for the contact information. I will have to do that.🌿💚
Ph. sharoniae mosquera is worth it for 120, and Ph. nangaritense for 60
There were plenty of plants at reasonable prices, which is one reason Ecuagenera is so popular. It's why I have purchased from them more than once, although most of my plants had to be rehabbed. Thanks for watching!🌿💚
Not organized enough for me..I need a firm price.
I agree with that, wholeheartedly!
I think you pay a premium if you go to the nursery as you have the perk of picking the plant you want.
In some cases I would agree, but not in this case. The plants I have received from this company in the mail seemed to be in much better condition than most at their nursery. I think they pick the best plants to mail out to their online customers, which is understandable. Also, the prices of some of these plants is cheaper on the website, based on size of the plant you receive. That was my experience with this company although other people may have had different experiences. Also, what I have experienced is that prices when visiting the nursery are less expensive than ordering online. The company does not have to spend time selecting, packaging and mailing the plant and they don't have to worry about that plant arriving in bad condition. I normally visit nurseries to get my plants because it is cheaper and I can make my selection. Thanks for watching!
@@PeggysPlants Maybe they try to sell stronger and better looking plants so as to account for the possible damage due to shipping stress. If they were to ship 'rough' looking plants they might be more susceptible to damage which will then be added on top of the damage prior to shipping. Also, I am not sure if ecuagenera accepts PayPal payments but they might want to avoid customers opening disputes to get a refund as buyers have more protection whereas once you leave the nursery with the plant you purchased, you have accepted the plant in those conditions and as such any further damage will be your responsibility. That might be why, possibly.
I would love to visit their nursery but I would probably purchase online to get better value for money like you said. Thanks for the content!
Yikes! I am glad I dont live near there or I probably would have wasted my time with the prices. Wonder why the prices differ from online.
I'm not sure why the prices are higher at the nursery. I was very surprised.
I've had bad experiences with their online shop. Their prices and sizes are inconsistent, so it also makes it difficult shopping for plants.
I have experienced the same with their online website. However, I keep going back because the price is normally so much better than everywhere else. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking us on the tour. The inconsistent pricing is a dealbreaker. Seems kinda sus.
I agree. Thanks for watching!
Those plants are priced ridiculously, $800 for a anthurium from a warehouse. For $800 I want To go to a trendy shop in a expensive neighborhood and be treated like a queen bee.
LOL....and a glass of champagne! All of that still wouldn't have mattered because I don't have $800 to spend on a plants. Thanks for watching!
Haha... Yes!
Nice plants there but I wouldn't shop there just for the way they price the plants too confusing
I think I will stick to the website since the prices are clear. Thanks for watching.
The pricing here is wild... Definitely makes it confusing. Going to the location isn't worth it here for sure
I've never seen anything like this type of pricing at a plant nursery. I will stick to the simplicity of their website. Thanks for watching.
$400 and $800 WHAT!!! I would have put them back too. Nah, this place sounds a little shady with their pricing to me. Way out of my price range. To each their own though.
In all fairness, they do have some plants for $20 and maybe some for less. The ones I wanted however, were a whole new ballgame. It was nice seeing them but they couldn't come home with me. Thanks for watching.
I think it's a little shady too. But more than anything, I think it might be an issue of poor organization and maybe understaffing. I bet the ones Peggy was quoted $400 or $800 on may have actually still be good deals for their sizes compared to what you'd get from a local nursery or esp on etsy or ebay. I know Anthurum luxurians and A. regale sell for $$$$$$$ online.
@@tristanbennett4508 Wow! Yeah, that makes sense to.
I don't like on the spot prices at cash registers, put a price and I'll decide if I want to pay that price or not.
ABSOLUTELY! I certainly feel the same. Thanks for watching.
That's crazy... wouldn't pay that price. I order online from them and I order by price that I can afford. Plants arrive in great condition. . Seems to me they were looking to make money.
I was surprised to see the difference in price in burst vs online. I will be sticking to buying online. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the information. I know they are a legit company BUT when your throwing prices out like that seems a little sketchy. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I've purchased from them online and will continue to do so. That way, I know exactly what I'm paying and I'm comfortable with that. Thanks for watching.
@@PeggysPlants completely understandable. I would feel more comfortable like you said with a set price. Even though you showed some amazing mouth watering plants I'd still continue to purchase online. Great video
Hustle mode
