Why do you think that? I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad take but I feel like people just say that sometimes to look like they are a hardcore fan when it makes you look casual. For me Volk didn’t have as many title wins yes, but his resume is much greater, beating max 3 times and what he did to max in the third fight is insane. Aldo has the title wins but his best wins are mendes, Volk beat mendes and Aldo. Aldo was absolutely still in his prime because he went on a run in the division down after and he was like 30 so I don’t want to hear it.
@@Lomaisundisputed but he was unbeaten for 10 years, mate. Long standing domination is over than just higher opposition overall and skill wise of Volk due to development of sport as natural thing itself
@@russelljones2281 yeah very impressive, I don’t mind people saying aldo is the fw goat. It’s not like GSP and Usman where GSP clears, but then again I just think Volk has the much better wins with slightly less title wins.

Volkanovski's achievement is genuinely surprising. There's no reason a guy like him should've beat Aldo or Holloway, especially Holloway.
Max Holloway was young and so far above everyone else in terms of skills (and he still is).
If it wasn't for Volkanovski stopping Max's reign, Max Holloway would still be featherweight champ and be undeniably the featherweight GOAT.
If we're being realistic, it's Volk > Holloway > Aldo

After all that leg injuries and rib injuries Aldo is still fighting top guys. We'll see where Volk will be fighting in 10 years career in UFC. Beating legend doesn't makes you goat. Beating Anderson Silva 2 times doesn't make weidman goat, even if jon jones loses 5 times to someone now in heavyweight, that person doesn't becomes just goat, Dogulas sure brought upset but he ain't greater than mike . Legacies makes them goat.

@@DeadSpaceMMA Aldo was undefeated as a champion for almost a decade with 7 title defenses and later lost his prime due to rib and leg injuries but was still fighting top 5 guys while volk is one of the greatest but he only has 5 title defenses . We will see who volk will be fighting in his 10 years ufc career to even compare with aldo. I think he might retire after if he losses some next fights or would be gatekeeper for top 10 guys. Aldo after becoming legend and goat is coming back to fight top guys and would still be fighting for title once again if he wins few more fights.

@@kylez33 bro even GSP and silva has been knocked out 2 times in their title fights but people forget too soon about their accomplishments before they lost. People used to say Usman, izzy and max as goat of their divisions just because they were champions and defended few times.

I'm Brazilian and love Aldo, but I wouldn't disagree if someone told me Volk is the FW GOAT
For me they r both tied, the difference is Volk is kinda more updated fighter than Aldo and can do better than him at this moment.
The way things are going, Volk has a real good chance to settle that conversation and solidify himself as the GOAT
Imagine if Volk never took the risk of fighting in the lightweight division.
I'm glad he took the Makachev fight, but the second fight was a bad decision. He was coming off the couch for that one.

@@flelite3994 Aldo got dominated by Volk, knocked out twice by Max and slept by Conor in 13 seconds - all in his early 30s when Aldo was in his prime. Both Volk and Max have better resumes and are ahead on the GOAT list. Aldo didn't fight the same level of competition Volk and Max did. Volk's three victories over Max alone surpass anything Aldo has achieved in the sport.

Aldo was undefeated for decades and defended belt for 7 times while volk just defended belt for 5 times in UFC and Aldo fought absolute best no. 1 contenders of his time like prime chad mendes, prime frankie edgar, prime korean zombie, prime faber while volk fought washed up mendes and korean zombie. His good wins are against max and ortega but style makes fights and just like max is kryptonite for aldo, volk is for max and ilia is for volk. So top 3 greatest are Aldo, max and volk but GOAT IS ALDO. Records doesn't lie

Illia is in the generation where they literally grew up with sound background in MMA meaning they're well-rounded in striking and BJJ.
Guys like Volk and Holloway didn't grow up with that. They just fought.
So in order for Illia to be the GOAT, he has to beat the current generation and his younger generation, like these guys did.
can't deny adlo and volk greatness. But its hard for me to ignore what McGregor did in featherweight and he came to the ufc as a champion from other organization. So its hard for me to tell who's the goat.
