McGregor ruins legacies of anyone he finishes. The consensus among casual fans (which compromise the vast majority of Conor fans) is anyone Conor finishes is a no-name and bum not worth talking about. Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez are all remembered more for getting finished by McGregor than for their impressive careers. Even Dustin Poirier couldn't shake this off until he finished Conor, who many of his fans are chalking up as a fluke.
It seems the only way you can earn the attention and respect of casual fans is to either finish Conor or go the distance with him. Max Holloway and Nate Diaz being prime examples. Khabib of course became famous by finishing Conor in the biggest UFC fight ever.

Aldo was a killer for 10 years. Looked unbeatable for forever, which is what made Conor's 13 second KO so impressive

Stephens win was huge, Jeremy was streaking and looked deadly but Aldo reminds us of his greatness

Honestly, Jose Aldo has already proved that he’s the greatest featherweight of all time. At this point, it just hurts to watch him get stomped. As much as I’d hate to see it, there’s nothing more he can do but retire. No king will reign forever. 😔
