The only Marines I heard of in ww2 Europe were dropped in France to help the French revolution forces and the 5 of them fought so ferociously that the German commander was convinced he was fighting a whole company
Yes, in fact the Marines were part of the 2nd Division during WWI. You can even find a lot of Marine uniforms of the time with the Indian head patch sewn on. Sad to see such disrespect in the replies. There shouldn't be anything wrong with acknowledging the service and sacrifice of other branches.

Howard Kunz are you stupid? The French were badly defeated in the German spring offensive and British troops were beginning to lose hope of winning the war. They lost hundreds of miles very quickly and were soon stalemated about 50 miles outside Paris. The stalemate wasn’t broken until the American troops were able to mop up the rest of the western front and ultimately be the deciding factor in the war
The only objection I have with this song is.. 1. They call us USA Marines, just say US Marines. 2. NEVER EVER, call a US Marine a Soldier. We earned the title for a reason. We are Marines
Marines, particularly early on, WERE known as "soldiers of the sea" and there's nothing wrong with that. It's even in - I think it was - Lejeune's address and in period recruiting literature. However, I agree about "USA Marines". Nobody calls the Marines that. It's "US Marines".
@@LibertarianUSA1982 I agree that it's uncommon, but Marines are know as soldiers of the sea. Source, my MCJROTC instructor who served as a DI for about 20 years.
