We talk about this at work all the time. Its so hard to even find someone that can read a tape measure. The tradesmen are basically non existent anymore. I've been trying to talk my daughter into going to a trade school. Bc I know if she goes to college she will not use that degree. Or get paid for having it.simple as that.

It’s the same all over the world your 100% right about people not even able to read a tape measure I’m from ireland and it’s the same over here everybody is encouraged to go to collage.Nobody wants to do a trade anymore.I just started a welding coarse last week at 35 after leaving the military of 15years.To many people are interested in easy and quick money nowadays and afraid to get there paws dirty.👍

Had a guy working in the crew, his tape measure broke and for some reason he knew that a ear plug was 1” , so for 3 days that was his measuring device, ran him off as soon as I found out….

I just had my 40th birthday and have only ever had one job and that is in the kitchen, I’ve done it all from dishwasher to head chef and am looking for a change. In your honest opinion is this a trade an “older man” could get into and make a living? I’ve been working since I was 13 and am definitely not afraid of hard work and dedication to something I put my mind to.

Yes rich, I’m 18 I’ll be 19 in may. You can def get into welding as long as you have a work ethic. western welding academy is def one of the sharpest academies out there especially at a 6 month program for 20k teaching a complete noob. Look at some shops around you see if they are willing to teach a lot of places will. But any of your high dollar weld jobs are going to to require some sort of welding certifications or experience. It’s awesome look into it.

I started welding in plants when I was 20 pipelines the next years and mostly over seas ,but i have know helpers thar was 50 before they went to welding, it all about your family if you have kids ,you miss that time

Say Danny have 14 yr old niece likes to weld build things . U had video on cheap tig welder from anizon she wants to try tig is it something could get her ? Some thing to try . We have small construction companie have had her mig welding on dozers and excavator buckets . Want her to stay interested have never did tig need some advice thanks for your time and suggestions u are very interesting with hudge knowledge thanks
