Pokemon Light Platinum - ROM Hacked

- Oh boy, it's Pokemon Light Platinum.
One of the most popular, well-known, and controversial rom hacks ever made.
While the game has it's fans, and it's definitely not bad... its certainly not the most refined Pokemon ROM hack ever made.
Again, it's not bad, but it has it's issues. I mean, after all, it was originally released in 2009 with it's last update in 2014... so naturally, it's gonna age.
So what is Pokemon Light Platinum?
You might guess from the name it has something to do with Pokemon Platinum, the generation 4 DS game... but Light Platinum is it's own beast.
It's a fully fan-made Pokemon campaign, hacked on-top of Pokemon Ruby.

It's set in an all-new region, Zhery, and it has another region to complete after Zhery, called Lauren.
It's about Arceus, and at one point, the Professor of the game Jasmine, even details the origins of the Pokemon universe, and it's pretty cool. - Hry
I only played/finished this once and never played it before. I rather play blazed glazed, but surely it was an experience playing it.
Glazed is definitely better. But Light Platinum is worth the playthrough, too
I know nothing about this ROM hack but based on them making a new map that sounds like how Kramer says "JERRY" I assume the story goes like this;
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - DAY
(JERRY is sitting on the couch, reading a magazine. KRAMER enters, bursting with excitement.)
KRAMER: (Frantically) Jerry, you won't believe what I just made!
JERRY: (Nonchalant) What is it this time, Kramer?
(KRAMER reveals his laptop, with a new ROM hack on the screen)
KRAMER: (Excitedly) Pokémon Light Platinum, Jerry! It'll be the next craze!
JERRY: (Skeptical) Pokémon on a computer? That doesn't sound right.
(Kramer puts the laptop down and demonstrates the game, showing a battle with a Pidgey on the screen.)
KRAMER: (Pointing) Look at this, Jerry! A wild Pidgey right here, in your apartment!
JERRY: (Confused) In my apartment? Since when do Pokémon hang out in apartments?
(Kramer ignores Jerry's question and throws a Poké Ball at the Pidgey.)
KRAMER: (Concentrating) Here goes nothing!
(The Pidgey escapes the Poké Ball.)
KRAMER: (Frustrated) Darn it! Missed it!
JERRY: (Chuckling) Kramer, this is ridiculous! Pokémon in an apartment? You can't catch them here.
KRAMER: (Determined) Oh, we can, Jerry! I've got a plan!
(KRAMER walks across the hall and starts rummaging through his apartment.)
JERRY: (Worried) Kramer, what are you doing?
(KRAMER pulls out a fishing net.)
KRAMER: (Grinning) We're going to catch that Pokémon, Jerry!
JERRY: (Resigned) Fine, let's see your brilliant plan.
(KRAMER sets up the fishing net in the middle of the living room above the laptop. They both hide behind the couch.)
KRAMER: (Whispering) Okay, Jerry, when that Pidgey comes back, we'll pounce!
(JERRY rolls his eyes, clearly not convinced.)
(Cut to a moment later, when the virtual Pidgey reappears on the screen.)
KRAMER: (Whispering) Get ready, Jerry!
(JERRY and KRAMER leap out from behind the couch, trying to catch the Pidgey with the net. KRAMER breaks the laptop, and chaos ensues as they stumble and fall.)
KRAMER: It got away, Jerry!
JERRY: (Groaning) Of course it did, Kramer. Because this is absurd!
(KRAMER and JERRY share a laugh as they realize the silliness of their pursuit.)
CUT TO:
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - LATER
(KRAMER and JERRY are back on the couch, catching their breath.)
KRAMER: (Grinning) Well, Jerry, we may not have caught that Pidgey, but we sure had an adventure!
JERRY: (Smirking) Yeah, an adventure in futility, just like most of your plans.
(They both laugh as they return to their everyday lives, leaving Pokémon Light Platinum behind forever.)
FADE OUT.

This was the first Pokémon ROM hack I ever played and never finished it because it got repetitive and boring, but I remember younger me being blown away by just how different it was.
Moved on to play liquid crystal which really raised the bar for me

That would be pretty cool but I don't think it'll ever happen.
Unfortunately it's a franchise aimed at kids, not people like us who want more violence. But we can't give up hope!
Light Platinum is light work. Nothing compared to recent hacks like Unbound
You should review Pokemon Insurgence and Pokemon Soulstones!
I'll see about eventually reviewing Fan Games rather than ROM Hacks. I've always preferred playing games that can play on original hardware

I do not see the point of long gaps filled with just gameplay footage. like seriously why
I didn't think the gaps were too long. I tried to keep each gap under a minute. But I'll try and keep the gameplay clips smaller, I guess.
This was one of my first game but I just never enjoyed it... Could you o 1 video on Pokemon Unbound

There are plenty of places you can find a prepatched ROM for Light Platinum. Try Pokeharbour
