The instructions for fitting the vape system on your lambretta are pretty crap, so I show you how I have fit mine. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Lovely use of the Buzzwangle there Rob, cheers for that. One point to mention with that ignition is that you are timing against marks on the fan, but if you remove the fan from the flywheel then it can be refitted in 6 different positions so it is VITAL to make a mark on the flywheel boss and another on the fan so that they always go back together in the same orientation.
Yes mate. I'm only using 2 screws on the fan and one of them is marked with the grease marker (on the flywheel and fan) so I know it's still in the same place. It was meant to be more of a wiring help than a timing help but the buzz wangle is so easy to use that I threw that in there as an added bonus.
Revisited this as i have just fitted an AC Sip Vape. Superb bit of kit. Set timing using a disc and the the timer markings on the stator. 100% accurate. Strobed once and was bang on. No adjustment needed. Lights are superb and starts first time with half a kick. My daughter could start it!
Only moan is the wire colours lol. Blue or yellow that’s ya choice!

The way to do the timing is do it before fitting the fan.
This lets you see the scribed line on the boss, when this mark passes over the mid line on the scale the spark is triggered.
Find your firing point, mark the housing then set the centre line on the scale to this mark. Job done, you can strobe after fitting the fan and making timing marks on the fan and the outer part of the housing it but it will be correct first time, no faffing about removing the flywheel to move the stator.
Like all things SIP the instructions they supply are next to useles for the average bloke and they should address this as it lets them down..
Just fitted my second vape. Word to the wise. Heavy duty earth. Then double it!

Hi watching your channel with interest just bought a vap sip for my lambretta; can you tell me when you put the base plate on the first time what position do you put it on is there any marked I should be looking for (stator) cheers regards tony
Just put it in the middle of the slots as a starting point mate.
Thanks for the Vid. Do you already have an impression on how it performs? I believe the flywheel is lighter than BGM’s. To me this says that acceleration should be improved. Curious to hear your thoughts as I will either buy a Vape, BGM or a Casa performance very soon.
I'm very happy with it. Done a whole season and no problems. I also have bgm fly and scootronics stator on my other scooter and not much difference in performance.
Thank you again Rob! This video totally guided me set up my vape on my series 2! I have set it up the same and also have the H4 headlight and led taillight. Maybe I need more earth as I have blown two BGM tail lights. Do you have any suggestions on how I could fix it?
My earth goes from rear of the frame to rear light, then to cdi and from cdi to engine.
@@kickbackgarage my earth goes to the frame then the engine (standard one). Will add another earth going from CDI to rear brake and frame. Hopefully this will help! Tks!

I like the mag housing which.is fitting on original crankcase?
Casa cooler will fit on the original engine case.
I tried to install a VAPE ignition to a CASA case and it hit the flange on the outer edge of the flywheel. Did you have any issue with that or have you heard of anyone that has?
Yes, I had to machine the edge 0.5mm. If you are on Facebook I can send you a photo.

Did you drill extra holes to mount the CDI that way Rob?
Ahh just realised you said modified it ... more holes and taller spacer tubes I assume
I actually cut the square hole a little bigger so I could lower the cdi and drilled and tapped a couple of holes and used the same spacers.

I have exactly the same set up, was trying to figure out earlier today how you had it that way ... the included instructions for the mount don’t work on a S2, I’ll be drilling more holes and new spacers a few MM higher ..... invaluable info on this vid though , simple to follow 👍👍
Your mount is upside down though ... I’m sure you have a perfectly reasonable response to that though 😁
I turned the mount upside down to avoid the existing holes that are for a standard ducati type cdi. Thanks for the feedback, its only a bit of fun but there is no denying that sips instructions are pretty shit 🤣 I almost had to use my brain! And it hurts.
Hi. What about the wires that come out the top? Mine barely go through the metal squeezing plate. Can’t even put rubber as would be pointless. Cheers
I modified the rubber. Made the hole bigger.

I have a standard TS1 with a franspeed pipe. What do I set the firing point BTDC on tickover with a vape sport? I currently have it set at 19 degrees. Is this ok?

I did notice as I was revving the engine the mark on the flywheel was moving clockwise towards TDC and not anti clockwise. I assume this is correct? I was told that when you rev it more the mark should start to move towards 22/24 degrees BTDC.????

Luke, it goes the opposite way. 24-25 degrees makes it easier to start. I've found that backing the stator all the way to the left of the groves gives you 17 degrees at 8k rpm. Unfortunately it runs at 20 degrees at around 5.5 to 6k revs where a typical touring engine (read exhaust) sits most of the time and my motor ran quite hot because of this. You should be fine with a franspeed as long as your gearing is correct and you generally sit at higher revs.

A bit too technical for me but is what I said correct with the mark on flywheel moving clockwise when revving higher when using a strobe/timing gun? I’m just worried I’m gonna blow it up when I run in on motorway/A road. Should the mark on the flywheel move anti-clockwise when revving higher using a strobe gun?

Yes mate. When you rev, the firing point moves to the right. The confusing part is that the timing is actually retarding because the lambretta crankshaft moves anti-clockwise. (hope that didn't confuse you even more!)
Note to self lee you fool why didn't you just buy a 12v lambretta in the 1st place :). Rob to make my headlight brighter i have to change it to a 12v ?. another question does where a person live affect the starting/ running of the scooter? I.E. inland, near the coast?.
Inland and coast are smaller factors than altidude differences. If you want propper lights then 12v and halogen/led bulbs is the way forward... If you ride a lot during the dark, that is. I. Talk about that on the video that comes out this Friday BTW.
Everythiing is fine and dandy untill you pick up the VVT from scootopia yea, great bit of kit buuuut...
NONE OF THE COLORS MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL....so im putting it out there, Rob any idea as I cannot find a
diagram anywhere and Scootopia is not keen on pixcking up the phone ATM...2 sets of wires c oming out of
the stator...first is a green with a double clip and black
second is a double black, a brown with a double clip and a red
now the CDI has two prongs one wider than the other...So ive deduced that the green and blacvk is going to CDI
based on thr config is right green is going to hook with green from headset as kill and black fits prong size
first problem CDI has no ground...OKAY now is where i am lost!!!
any help is much appreciatred as always!!!

I've never fit the scootopia but the first place I would look is the variotronic kit instructions in the hope that they use the same wire colours.
