Ricky Stubblefield You're right. I have heard the second one is much better, and I plan to play it some day. Maybe I liked this one also because I played it when I was younger and hadn't yet played many better games that came out later.
+Ricky Stubblefield I played every Fable game to the end (except for the Kinect one and those other shitty ones) and I enjoyed them all a lot. Fable 3 isn't a bad game, it was just a bit badly represented and was made a bit too childish.
I just like games where you start from a low point and rise to become something amazing such as a king or a dragonborn or a liberator of people etc...

Because everyone who's been around since the release of the first one knows how badly the third one strayed away from the magnificent formula that made the first one so successful. The second one took a lot from the first one and brushed it up which in turn made it also very successful. Third one just went some weird direction trying to fix something that wasn't broken.
***** Believe me, you are the minority. Graphically speaking it is ahead of its predecessors. Gameplay/mechanic and story wise, it took a few steps back.
in my first playthough i was left feeling let down by the devs a bit, mostly because the graphics style they went for over fable 1's and 2's, but as i thought more about it aside from preformance and graphics short comings and some other minor things i found that the game on the whole is a 7-8/10

These comments are harsh. It's a great game... it's different from I (which is overrated anyways, thanks btw Lionhead for no female protag)... it's different from II which is brilliant in story and a lot of fun. It is its own game.
Honestly I don't get the hate. I love all the games with I being my least favorite. I thought III was beautiful and the steampunk vibe was remarkable. I don't want to be muddled down by tricky and annoying combat, I want to be IN the story and learn the lore of Albion. Could care less about online as well. Playing Fable is MY special time, don't need someone joining in.
Overall it's a great game, and for some reason I'm the minority opinion here (and not just because I'm female, haha). I've played it over MULTIPLE times, great replay value!

Becky Slavik I'm almost done beating Fable 2 and I still think Fable 1 is the best, but I think Fable 3 is the second best Fable game. Then again, I'm going to go back and beat Fable 3 again after Fable 2 for my final thoughts. Fable 3 was a stellar game, the only thing I didn't like was the lack of weapon variety. Other than that, I cannot really think of anything it lacked versus the other two games, but then again, I played Fable 3 a longggg time ago and it was my first Fable game so I didn't play the other ones before to say, why isn't this feature in here?

Are you kidding? You need money in this game to finish. In fable 1 I NEVER needed any money. Got through the game with 300k excess gold without renting out any property and without anything to spend my money on. Fable 2 I pretty much rented out everything in the game but there was no use for money in that game either. In Fable 3, if you wanted people to like you at the end of the game and you wanted to not wipe out literally the entire population of Albion, then you had save up money for weaponry so less people died. There was like 2 people left when I first beat the game because I only had 200k gold in the treasury. At least the decisions you make in Fable 3 actually mean something.
Fable 1 really has zero choices. You play good or evil and stick to the good or evil decisions the entire game. In fable 3 you can start off good, then once you become king turn take the power and do the exact same thing your brother did. In terms of difficulty, you're right, Fable 3 was easy as shit. Although once you get the hang of Fable 1, it's extremely easy as well especially when you can by health potions in mass quantities which you can't in fable 2/3.
The plot of Fable 1 was forgettable at most. I mean the antagonist was very generic and predictable. Really the only story that was that enjoyable was Fable 2. Fable 3 had an okay story and Fable 1 was too all over the place. Fable 1 is still my favorite Fable game, however I think people give Fable 3 too much shit. All of the Fable game have one big issue in it.

I remember when I was younger and I really liked playing this game. But then a few years later I played Fable 2 and I realised how lazy Fable 3 is. It may be fun, but it's been way too dumbed down from its predecessor and it's just way too easy. Plus, the ending sucks. It's not worthy of an 8.5/10, more like a 5/10. Fable 2 is a lot better.

I dont understand why you guys hate the game? I was a kid back then when i played this and i loved it. I replayed it again and i still love it. Sure there are bugs but its still fun tbh. Love the fable series.

Dude, i played it when i was a kid yea, which wasnt very appropriate for kids to play at the time, but i got my hands on it and played it, still a teenager man
The game was great, but the ending was complete bullshit, *SPOILERS* in the end you're basically faced with three options.
1, make all the right decisions as King making everyone in the world love you but leaving you with nearly no funds to protect your people (which kills everyone in the world, you'll basically be roaming without anyone in the towns)
2, make all the Wrong decisions which makes everyone hate you, but you'll have enough money to save them, which sucks anyways because they'll hate your guys for the rest of your life/gametime.
And finally 3, make whichever decisions you want, good/bad this may leave you with a decent amount of money, but not nearly enough to protect the people from the attack, forcing you to make money on your own through minigames/quests/buying properties which takes weeks, literally.
What I did is I wonder, "what happens is every one loves me, and I have the money to save them all?". So I bought all the stores and did lots of side quest till I have like 13 million gold, which I can buy the royal funds to save the whole world 2-3 times in Fable 3. I did all the good options as king, and donate millions to the royal funds till it is like 3 million more then the funds needed to be to beat the game. So, where I am getting to this. Well, even though I have huge amount of funds, every one likes me, and still millions in the funds, I still get the ending that EVERYONE LOVES BUT STILL DIED. WTF. Wasted effort I gave to try to get a actual good ending.

Never use graphics as a way to judge games, many old sega games had terrible graphics but were still awesome. It's just more of a way to marvel at the improvement of technology rather than the game itself

this game was ok. but compared to the first 2 it was a huge let down. This had so much wasted potential. it felt really rushed and too short to have any real immersion into the story. it didnt really offer anything new compared to the first 2 either. Fable 2 is still my go to fable game.
You can thank Microsoft for that. They bought out and rushed Lion Head to release the game in half the time it took them to make both Fable 1 and 2

1) They promissed a lot more than delivered.
2) The game was supposed to be epic and completly innovative but looked like Halo + Borderlands - Story.
3) Bosses sucked. They weren't even creative about it, all you need to do is find a safe spot and shoot all your ammo at it until it goes down.
4) After all this they still dare to sell the game at full price.

I love this game! I cant get enough of it. I loved Fable 2 as well. Though I havent had the luxury of playing the 1st one. I too wish they would redo it for the xbox360. I've done damn near everything in Fable 3 and once you collect all the keys, gnomes, ect. there really isnt much left to do. Unless you want just keep dragging villagers to work or whatever. Just need one more outfit and like 25 more weapons and i'll have all the achievements unlocked. Def time consuming collecting all that!

Fable and Fable II were actually pretty great. Fable III was ... just all kinds of terrible. Beyond belief.
That is a matter of personal opinion, to me the people who likes any call of duty or grand theaft auto are beyond crazy.

What were you, one of the testers? They obviously rushed though the game it was very unmemorable. I remember seeing this games price drop like a rock because of how shitty it was :D no replay value at all and I beat it in about 3 hours so lame.

Fable 3 is the easiest game in the world and has very small game worlds to play in.Easily the most horrible game I've ever played.
and what's the difference? Fable 1 was a good game. since then the company has had years to fix problems fans have been crying about. Magic was overpowered. they made it more powerful. nothing to spend money on. still nothing. literally no issues fans have cried about fixed, little to no improvement, dumbing down the game, it's amazing a company can make games that r worse and worse given so much time to improve their engine.

To sum it up, Fable 3 was a very dumbed down game in terms of customization and character development. Armour had as much protection as no clothes at all. Spells were poor. No expression wheel, so we were forced to use any one type of expression at any one time. Everyone still looked the same and had the same voices. Damn, they even recycled lines from Fable 2 and pasted it in Fable 3! Laziness. I fear where Fable 4 is going to end up. Please Lionhead, listen to the fans!
i actually think this one is the best, improved combat and you get to become a king with power. the story was also great, i loved going to a completely new country.

I don't think that it is so much bad but rather that Fable could be SO much more. Fable 1 had a lot of potential and instead of expanding on some of the elements which made it great they took a simpler approach.
It's funny how these gamespot and IGN reviews almost never comment on the story. As a Fable 1 fan it is very obvious to me that the story and atmosphere have declined in the sequels at a rate I've never seen before. Whenever sequels are obviously a step back from their originals, they never mention it!
Lionhead is obviously planning to make the Fable series into the first truly casual RPG experience. It's pissing me off.
@jveezy18 These graphics are in no way bad. Just because it uses an art style that doesn't go for hyper realism, doesn't mean that they're bad. I don't understand why whenever a game has graphics that don't look like Skyrim or BF3, people say they suck. They don't suck, it's a different style that works very well for this game.
If you're starting this game. invest in shops, buy them and raise prices you will be glad you did.
I loved fable 2 merely because of the fact that you work from the slums of albion to a hero who becomes either good or bad (understandable because you had a hard life, you can choose to be bad or good).
Coming from royalty doesnt make much sense when it comes to being good or evil... if your brother is evil then you being evil means that whoever "saves" albion is still a villain..
I kinda like the King idea at first, but I eventually got tired of it. I liked how in Fable 2 you felt like this great hero that everyone needed. You go do a quest one day, and then go to the tavern and get drunk and puke everywhere while half naked. Now as the king, it feels weird to do that. It feels like my guy has a certain level of formality he has to keep just to make me feel like I'm the king. I wish they made the King aspect a little bit better, and let me feel like I earned it.
The only thing that I didn't really like about Fable III was getting used to the sanctuary, I have to walk to a different section to dye my clothes and hair? Bummer man.

The issues with this game were on a Technical level for me. I believe the hatred towards this game is the hatred towards the style of gameplay. - For example, I adored Fable 3 just because there were sidequests, and I could buy houses, relationships collect weapons, make money, etc. For MOST people this game was terrible because they ddin't enjoy those aspects. I loved this game because I had an addictive 'Must complete everything' mindset towards it.
When I first began playing this game, I loved it for pretty much all the reasons stated in this video. It's visually appealing, humorous, and wonderful voice acting. But once I got to the point of the game where all I had to do is quest, it actually got really boring and repetitive, in my opinion. Also, some quests are kind of difficult and confusing. I wish there was some distinction in appearance amongst the villagers so it would be easier to find people.
What were Lionhead thinking when they made "the journey"? WE NEED A FABLE 4 WHICH NEEDS TO SHOW WHAT PETER HAD IN MIND AND WHAT THE FANS WANT!

I really, really could keep going on and expanding on many points, but it just goes to show how much Fable has changed from the good old days of the Lost Chapters. That would a good game back in the day, despite the somewhat over hyping then. Fable 4 I reckon is Lionhead's last chance to get things right again and to restore the faith in fans once more. They fuck up again, then I feel people will just lose their patience with the continuing decline in general quality of the franchise.

I did the same thing. I ended up paying 57 dollars for this game because it charged my bank without any money in it, no refunds, and no confirmation screen. I got an overdraft fee... I'll be getting my money's worth out of this game if it kills me.
One problem with this game is this:You can choose to be bad and get an impossible amount of money so ur entire kingdom hates you,or you can be good,lose all your money and your whole kingdom dies at the end.

haha no, no, no, no. i have never seen him give a 10, and that doesnt even matter here. this game is just retarded, seriously. it is completely dumbed down as if it were meant to be played a 5 year old. there are no conversations with the citizens, all you can do is fart in their face or dance. the melee is totally pointless and it takes only a few shots with a rifle to kill an enemy. the story is alright, its not bad, but the fact that the gameplay is utterly pointless and a waste development resources. all side quests are pretty much the same, find this, find that. i enjoyed the first fable quite well, but this? man i was extremely dissapointed. you can even see the creator in video saying "everything im trying to do is insanely based on 1 button". how does button mashing the same button over and over and over and over the whole game create a fun atmosphere? it doesnt. there are pretty much no rpg elements in this game, and what remains is wayyyyyyyyyyy to fucking simple and easy. i beat this game with no challenge at all, only being stumped by a few werewolves, but thats it. when i beat it i felt i had wasted 60 dollars of my hard earned money. going to work hyped about this game waiting for my chance to get it, and when i finally do, i wanted to break it in half and burn it. is it that bad? no, was it what i/ a lot of other rpg fans waiting for? god no. i really really really hope they make some serious changes in the future, and with fable legends coming out, i hope they did or they have a lost me from here on.

Looking back, I can't believe this game got this score. From a Fable perspective, it's terrible. From a game perspective, it's also terrible.

I'm not talking about the Fable review he made. I'm talking about him in general. He is a casual. He doesn't finish half the games he reviews and just spits out buzzwords. Skyrim has been casualised to shit and panders to people who haven't even played any other Elder scrolls game. In other words it's not ES anymore.
This games combat system isn't very good but honestly the voice acting and ridiculous jokes make up for it. If your into story telling you'll love this game.
IGN is just a group who said's good things about games to gain trust with the company's to get them to sponsor them.

It's a game which lets you create your own hero in an open, explorable world with many things to do... It's not a well built rpg but it is an rpg nonetheless...
