    I liked this game a lot, don't understand all the hate. I played the old Splinter Cell games, and although I have to agree that it's not better than Chaos Theory. It still is an awesome game, and it did innovate on various aspects in the stealth genre, especially the Mark and Execute, and Last Known Position, both of which are copied by many Stealth games today.

    • @Selrisitai
      @Selrisitai Před 9 lety +24

      Arkanjo Teixeira Simple: People don't care if it's a good game, people want a *Splinter Cell* game, in the vain of previous Splinter Cell games. Conviction altered the fundamental play style, and people resent it.
      I am happy because I don't like the normal Splinter Cell play style. Conviction is, for me, just the right amount of stealth vs action. I like the choice, and I have beaten the entire game with *only* hand to hand stealth kills because it is so fun that I decided to actually challenge myself.

    This game is fantastic. Co-op was simply addicting and so much fun. Love the atmosphere and eerie soundtrack. Still playing today. I’ll agree , it’s not a traditional Splinter Cell in the gameplay department but that’s what sets this game apart from the others. It may be the “Black sheep” of the series, but it’s still a great game.

    I hate how he said that its a bad thing that you must watch AI patrol patterns and that you probably didn't finish double agent. That's splinter cell for you, conviction may be a great game but its by a fact the worst splinter cell game because its about stealth killing instead of sneaking past enemies. And you cant even do nonlethal takedowns!

    • @jamesl9313
      @jamesl9313 Před 9 lety +12

      Honestly I've played every Splinter Cell since the first. All of them were good for different reasons, but this one should be considered more like a spinoff in my opinion. It's a great game, but it's not Splinter Cell. Blacklist on the other hand was (in my opinion) a great return to form.

    • @RevanStarrrR
      @RevanStarrrR Před 9 lety +1

      *****
      Yeah although i constantly got pissed off in Blacklist when shit that never would have happened in Chaos Theory happened. Like enemies being scripted to be on alert instead of it being a consequence of players actions. That happened only two times in Chaos Theory in the end of the last two levels of the game. In blacklist, that shit is in the first fucking level of the game (excluding tutorial) for the entire second half of the level

      There are a couple instances in the game where you can do non-lethal takedowns, so I wouldn't say that, but yes, I know what you mean. It was definitely dumbed down compared to the old ones but enjoyable nonetheless.

    I really dislike all the haters of Conviction. It is NOT a sneaky spy game. It is a story about family and revenge. He lost his daughter and had to shoot his best friend in the last game. Now that he finds out his daughter is alive, he is not going to let anything stop their reunion. He doesn't give a damn about "light switches". He is out for blood and Conviction represents that brilliantly.

      If you think the developers had the idea for the story before they thought of the gameplay changes, you are wrong, People dont like conviction because its just another dumb action game, made to please a broader audience, shitting on legacy of splinter cell

    • @Selrisitai
      @Selrisitai Před 9 lety +8

      Java If you think it's a "dumb action game," then you apparently skipped every cut-scene, and played the bulk of the game with the sound off. This game has some of the snappiest, most real and emotional dialogue in any game I have ever played.
      The characters are written with wit, humanity, confliction and emotion. There is an especially poignant part near the end that I always watch with the volume up, filled with tension.
      The game mechanics definitely do not encourage you to go in guns blazing, since only a few shots from enemies kill you. Stealth is still the number 1 advantage, and there are multiple scenes that essentially *cannot* be played without utilizing some stealth.

      This game is definitely worth getting. Most people seem to hate this Splinter Cell, but I think it's pretty good. It's really easy, that's my own negative about it. Too easy, too short.

    I hope Blacklist isn't the last one, and I hope the make one with a bit slower pace like the old ones. Still a fluent and agile Sam - just a much more realistic one.
    PS: Please keep the (seperated story) awesome co-op next to the campaign.

    ..."nothing like the old Splinter Cell games, which is a good thing..." Nope. Blacklist is actually much closer to the original formula and is all the better for it. Conviction was an overblown, generic action game that abandoned everything the Splinter Cell series had built it's name on. The old games were popular for a reason and the identity crisis that Conviction suffers from really hurt it. Functionally great, but it is NOT a Splinter Cell game

    • @nikolaangelov3583
      @nikolaangelov3583 Před 9 lety +28

      In my opinion it makes sense to create an action game, since sam is angry. Think about it: his best friend and daughter are dead, and grim, one of the people he trusted the most, lied to him for years. If the character development goes like this, it makes sense to make something more action.

      I agree in many points, seeing as I adore stealth games. But the big thing that makes this my favourite Splinter Cell game is the story. Albeit short, the rage and emotion driving you through the game is unmatched. And I am one of those crazy suckers that play games for the story. :D

    You know it's really annoying seeing people give the game such a hard time. Sure, it's different, so what? I guarantee if they would've made another, stand in a dark corner waiting for your enemy to walk by type of Splinter Cell, people would have been complaining the game is too similar to the previous 4 games. The series needed a change like this for at least one game, and it's at least a hell of a lot better than Double Agent.

    Decent game, awful Splinter Cell game. From the moment I first saw developer interviews and early game play I knew this series was dying.
    Splinter Cell at its core is about completing your objective as stealthily as possible. Entering and leaving without leaving a trace that you were there. THIS is why Chaos Theory is regarded as the milestone of the series. Every upgrade to the game focused on stealth. Better camera, better gadgets, wireless hacking, upgraded enemy AI that inspected every out-of-place change, amazing muilti-path level design......I could go on. Detection was avoided at all cost.
    Enter Conviction. Sam Fisher is now Jason Bourne. He scales walls and traverses ledges as if he has suction cups attached to his fingertips. Altercations are encouraged due to the mark and execute mechanic. Sam does things that he highly advocated against in previous games. In Chaos Theory's training video's Sam clearly states how he's seen more people die in doorways than anywhere else, advocating caution and inspecting the other side via snakecam. Here comes Conviction where Sam is barging through doors and shotgunning people down in dramatic fashion.
    I'll admit the game is fun, but it is not the Splinter Cell that people wanted. This is where the mainstream curse really hit this franchise. Blacklist tried to be stealthy whilst keeping the action intact. It's a better game, but still failed to capture what Splinter Cell is about.

    It's a pretty good game on its own, but it just isn't Splinter Cell. Previous games (especially Chaos Theory, which many fans consider the apex of the series) allowed you to choose whether to sneak and remain hidden, or take the brute force assault approach that is the only option in conviction.
