      Seriously? Is this even Modi's fault? It is shameful how people are trying to blame everything on the government. This was the first time Phogat was fighting in the Under 50kg category in her career. Her normal weight is 53 kg in her previous competitions. It is really hard for any athlete to go up or down in their category, but she did a good job. She worked so hard for this, but in the end, it is heartbreaking to see her disqualified for just a few grams. This is totally unrelated to politics as all athletes have their own teams, including coaches and nutritionists. It is sick how people are pushing their own political agenda through someone's loss and tragedy. This country is becoming disgusting day by day thanks to this low level of politicians and their propagandists who, after losing for the third time, are reaching new lows with their personal hate for Modi.

She was assured of a Silver medal and was in a good position to get gold. Disqualification due to such a silly issue is totally unacceptable. Government must ensure better facilities, support for our athletes. Even when Lakshya was competing for gold there was a little blood coming out of his elbow, the officials called the Indian medico in charge and told him to patch the wound properly, this guy wrapped his entire arm in a bandage. They can, that's why they have professionals looking over wrestler's diet and regime. As far as I know, their intake during these short gaps mainly consists of liquid diet, which after their body absorbs the nutrients they can sweat it out.
      Vinesh was clearly in the green before her yesterday's bouts so definitely they were able to control her weight.
      This is clearly a case of our wrestling federation not having a strong standing with the IOC. They would not have dared take these steps with the American, Chinese teams that too for 50-100gms which Vinesh would have easily able to reduce if she had been given 2-3 hours more for exercise.
      That's why, even though I do not really like the way our cricket board runs it's writ over the other boards but atleast we will never suffer this sort of misfortune in a major tournament where we lose a match in this sort of manners in cricketing terms.

    • @truthalwaysprevails662
      @truthalwaysprevails662 Před měsícem

      @@utkarshsingh-87 I get your point, that her body may have already have adapted to the 53 kg weight but you also have consider the fact that these are elite athletes and they do not take decisions to change their weight category on a whim, their is a year or two of hard work and the whole qualification process behind them. And in Wrestling's case, atleast for wrestlers from Haryana, they have access to top facilities.
      Also the interesting fact being that she is Asian Games gold medal winner in 50kg category (granted this was back in 2018). I do remember her upper body being much more lean, for these current bouts she looked relatively more muscular.
      Weird things like this have happened in Olympics in the past with other teams and other sports too and will keep on happening. Olympics is notorious for this.
      As it must definitely devastating for Vinesh for all efforts to go to vain but also as a supporter of Indian sports it really stings because we as a nation are really medal starved in Olympics. In fact for the whole subcontinent apart from India's few medals and Pakistan's few hockey medals there is nothing really to show for the whole region.

    Her natural body weight is 57 kg, but wrestlers often compete in lower weight categories.
    Instead of choosing the 55 or 53 kg categories, she made the bold decision to enter the 50 kg category.
    Managing a 7 kg difference from her natural weight is challenging, especially as the body naturally gravitates back to its normal weight after eating.
    However, competing in the 53 or 55 kg categories would have posed an even greater challenge for her.
    So she took a calculated risk to increase her chances of winning, by going for 50 kg category.

The athlete knows more, so can take care of him/ herself better than any of the nutritionist, coach, physiologist, etal. Then what are they there for? Why is the need for them to travel? In modern era, right accountability must be set and people held responsible for his/ her deed. The whole episode was poorly handled. The fact that they officially announced almost immediately smells fishy! It's a ideal who-done-it plot as Agatha Christie's.
