- This Episode features Skin Deep . I was very good friends with one of the members ( Greg Gaddy) of this group. Greg and I wrote the original version of the song Don't Be Afraid back in 1993. I miss him dearly.

Man all of this feels so nostalgic. Staying up late every Saturday. Take me back!!! 😩😩
Couldn’t wait till Saturdays nights to watch Showtime At The Apollo!! From 1987-through the 90’s was the BEST Episodes!!!
Such a weekend vibe 💞
I agree
I was just saying this
Facts
I miss this show not being on TV anymore.
I know my favorite one was when llcoolj and X and method man and red man! There was good and when lil bow wow was on there and brandy and christina aguilera was another one!😊
Lil man came out and ripped that mic real quick and bounced
T I stole the hat lean from him😂
@@D00ney423 yep I agree 👍🏽

@@D00ney423 True😂

This rap have meaning...
A message🏆🏆
Brat ask JD "why they sitting down" 😂❤
Dang ya got a time stamp??
8:42 I found it but dang yeah why they sitting down? This was the jam.
@ms.punkie9580 @R_L_1369look at the year, 1995. Whether this performance was right before the infamous 1995 Source Awards (which took place just a few miles from this theater) or right after, in 1995, the atmosphere in New York was thicc with animosity toward outsiders because the West Coast had just taken over the rap game for the previous 2 years, and now the South was coming.
@@FloridaGeorgia I was very young at that time, but yeah you right. I recall a tenseness when it came to the music world at that time.
I definitely grew up watching Showtime at the Apollo on Saturday nights even though I had to get up for church the next morning.
facts!!!! LOL memories
I liked and spent every Saturday night watching Showtime at the Apollo! From 1987, the 1990's-throught the 2000's was all the best episodes of its time!
I also watched it from its beginning, and I agree that the Steve Harvey/Rudy Rush era was the best!
Good ole days watching this on saturday night,😌 take me back
Word!
Salt'n Pepa ahead of their time by 30 years.
Innovative, Bold, Fresh, Subversive and so entertaining.
I miss my childhood!!!!
Lil Man killed it!
Little man is the best one on here and he killed it and I'm from Springfield so we close I got to go find him 20 years later
Was the best performance,no doubt!
What a time to be alive!!! KiKi always looked beautiful
Really love the way Chuck Arrington sung that Bebe&Cece song
I waited every weekend for this show! Loved it so much 💞
Apollo Talent Show is very special, gives those who have never performed in front of a live audience a platform and those who are experienced the opportunity to grow, hone their art/skilz, all the chance to enter the field of professional entertainment.
Just introduced my son to this…was just talking about the Apollo to my son and I found this episode. Brought back a lot of memories. Funkdafied was such a monster jam.
Plus, it had a Salt and Pepa throwback with a competitive Amateur Night…this was a great episode to share with my boy.
Went to a KFC in Jamaica as a kid and the lady at the counter asked me which piece of Chicken would you like. I said "the big piece". Woman lost it😆😆
I would like an update on Little Man if that’s cool….
Little Man went on to fight The Rock for the Wrestling Heavyweight Championship and Little Man won !!!
Lil Man turned ALL THE WAY.
“ I can move it out the way it ain’t mine “ 😂😂
Always looked forward to Saturday night! Called everybody to remind them who was on the show and to turn it on! Brings back good memories, I loved when The Brat asked JD "why they sitting down" loved it! Loved Apollo, Miss this show very much! Bring it back!
One of my favorite episodes all time miss this show and times so much 😢
Brat's single 📀 must've JUST come out the day b4 this show cuz that crows was DEAD ☠️ as HE-YELL when she came out on stage !! When that song came out, I remember every1 started bopping they heads & rappin' along everytime it came on the radio 📻. Brat has always been EXTREMELY underrated compared to less talented female rappers 👩🏽🎤who got more shine!! She'd eat up ANY of these female rappers out todayfor breakfast, lunch, & dinner!!
Loved her
I agree. Brat is so underrated. One of the best female MCs.
Different crowd. She performed that same song some months before on the exact stage and they went nuts.
Da brat suxxx! She don’t talk bout nothing. Except for “check the funk flow you know how it go” wackest mc
@@gouravveerraina6430 Well, what do rappers normally talk about genius?? Tell me...
Nice sound to listen to on windy day
I was the only one up in the house watching these episodes. I had to say up for the Rap performances. Arsenio Hall actually was the only other show I’d stay awake for, for the same reason. I liter didn’t miss an episode.
Aresenio best talk show
Lil Man Lil Man did that !
Showtime at the Apollo will always remind me of 90s JRPGs and vice-versa. That's just how childhood works I guess.
They need to bring this show back..
The band is louder than the singers just like the musicians in church playing over the choir.
I JUST LOVE MY CUZIN KEKE SHEPHERD EVEN BEING YOUNG SHE ALWAYS HAD A SPECIAL UNIQUE WAY OF FASHION❤❤❤
Ke Ke makeup is on point!
I use to love Apollo awesome shows we had back then
Saturday Night ♥️
No splits? Hey, that ain't the godfather, that's his outlaw cousin!

Bratt and JD sounded so good, that's what a pro sounds like
I wrote this song with Greg back in 1992. Original version is a little slower. Greg is the one holding his coat.

Idk why they wasn’t cheering like that for the brat
I was thinking the same thing. Da Brat was fly but I wonder if the ppl at the time had a problem with her appearance...or maybe just a boring crowd that was just learning who she was, idk! 😂
@@eliteleveliq4289 yeah you couldn’t be in public and out like that it was unspoken

@@eliteleveliq4289 what was wrong with her appearance. It was not 1927. The way Brat presented was no problem whatsoever. Im fact, many women dressed that way in the 80s and 90s who were not in the LGBT community

Im from Lumberton NC....i wonder are they're still in The Ville?
Greg passed away and the others are around fayetteville area doing different things
