Last year (2015) the Mustang easily beat the Camaro. Chevy stepped up their game this year (2016). In the next year or two, Ford will match or beat Chevy. Then Chevy will come back with something better. And on and on it goes. The beauty of competition in the free market!

    • @samuelrs5138
      @samuelrs5138 Před 7 lety +4

Brand loyalty can be smart but not when people get emotional over it and/or won't even consider other brands. For me it's more about brand dis-loyalty, i.e. the brands I avoid like the plague. Up until the last decade or so, Kia would have been one of those brands. VW is one of those brands right now since their leadership has proven they cannot be trusted to tell the truth even when it comes to potential life/death problems with their cars.

GREAT REVIEW!!! I am a die hard Mustang Fan and you are 100% spot on. Every issue that the Mustang has is a legit problem(panel gaps, weight, Ford's hard-on for the V6 to sell more ecoboosts). Anyone who does not agree needs to go to their local Ford dealership and look at the 2015 Mustangs on the lot. Exterior fit and finish has been a big problem since it is a new model of course. I agree that this Camaro has it beat....for now ;) Tbh though, I would still buy the Mustang over that Camaro because of the WW2 bunker interior feel along with the poor visibility.

LOL rubbleyboo! Im neither a ford or chevy guy. In fact my wife and I have leased/purchased 4 ford vehicles. i test drove both the eco mustand and v6 camaro. I test drove the mustang a couple of times, I was very close to buying one. I was negotiating the perfect deal with several dealers. I test drove the camaro bc I thought why not they are comparable sports cars. So I thought, the second I drove the camaro there was really no comparison. The mustang felt slow and sluggish almost boat like around corners. The camaro was agile, quick, and stiff in corners almost no role. In a matter of minutes I was sold. My personal preference on the inside styling was the mustang(besides the PB), but marginally. the sound system seating sync3 was better. If that is what you like about your car go that route. If you are into how the vehicle drives its not close. The camaro is amazing. I hope I've helped anyone looking at both cars. I think they are both amazing and it makes me feel good to live in an era where I get to choose between a 9.9 and a 10.

Hi. New to the channel. Excellent, and detailed, reviews. I own a 2011 Mustang GT for track use, where the live axle is not an issue (it definitely is on the street), but I bought a 2015 EcoBoost Mustang late last year as my daily driver and love it. The "normal" seats are far better. The Recaro's are horrendous. I'm 6' and 190 lbs, and they were unusable. Fit and finish on my EcoBoost is quite good, I was surprised to hear about the tester's quality. The 7th gen Camaro is an excellent car. I still found visibility poor, and was not a fan of the interior. Of course, that's highly subjective. Certainly, the V6 sounds much better than the EcoBoost, but the EcoBoost really brings the torque. A basic tune, like a Cobb stage 1, absolutely transforms the EcoBoost. This is a must for any enthusiast. Ford's tuning is ridiculously conservative. Both cars are winners IMHO that a buyer can't go wrong with.

Absolutely loving my 2016 2LT RS V6 6 speed Camaro with the NPP dual mode exhuast and the ZN2 lighting / convenience package (that's a mouthful). Fast "enough" for a daily driver / city commuter. Exhaust sounds amazing around 5000 rpm. The car feels well built and is driver-centric with a lot of great tech. The heated and cooled leather seats are comfortable. Feels every bit as nice as German cars selling for $10,000 more. And of course the Camaro is sportier looking.

      Just because...
The ecoboost is rated for power and mileage on 93 oct. If you drop to 89 octane in the ecoboost the engine will lose almost 20hp, more torque, and mileage will suffer.
Now you are slower and have worse gas mileage than the V6! Pay a premium price to drive a slower worse mpg car? lmao 😂!!
The V6, even detuned, is still just as fast in the 1/4 mile stock for stock. My bolt on V6 has yet to lose to an ecoboost and I’ve raced the 2018 one past 130 and it was not close after 100 lol.

    Notes to take away.
-You can quickly change the mustang muffler for $400 to $1200 and grab a nice "grrrr" muscle sound.
-The Mustang took a GIANT leap forward in the style change. Chevy did not. I will credit Chevy in staying true to the blood and maintaining a real identifiable link to the last model.
-Both cars are affordable and modifiable. Modification prices will carry a unique twist to end game and it's really up to you to do the research if modification is your goal. These are 2 fantastic cars that many people can afford. Just look around.

I had both Camaro, and Mustang. I must say that ATS platform Camaro is mighty good. Balance, the V6 that made more power than my Mustang V8 of the time. I think GM has a winner on its hands. I still like the Mustang for things Ford finally addressed. The IRS, the much better interior, and that Aston Martin sexy body is amazing. I would still love seeing 007 running out of a building chasing a bad guy, and the shot is a side profile of an Aston Martin, but in behind it out of camera range, a Mustang GT. That would be epic. He chases the bad guy in that. The Audience would be so surprised, and it would be a Coo for Ford, and shake the hero car status big time.
Coming back though, I would buy the V6 Camaro too even though the V8 SS amazing. But cost is a huge factor, and the V6 is so right on. Great job on the review Steve, and thank you.

Forgot to mention a big point. Based on your trim review there is about 6 grand difference (if you take off the recaro seats that are incomfortable and don't' make any change in the performance) in favor of a Mustang.
The buyer have to justify the price also, if you put 6 grands for tuning your Mustang will fly and than you have performance and praticability. If you stand in the stock one you save some money for a still bad ass looking car.

I have a very long freeway commute (75 MPH) I specifically want a rear wheel drive car, with decent power, and fuel economy. The Camaro's ride and handling is so much better, and the V8 in the Camaro swamps the Coyote which in itself is a great motor. I am a solid Camaro fan origiinally defecting from the Mustang GT camp. Eventually, I reduced it to the Ford and Chevy mostly because of the reputation of the European cars being expensive to maintain. With the field down to Mustang and Chevy, your video helped me make the final decision. I'm going for the Camaro. A 2019 RS 3LT package. I have a long commute to work and back and the Camaro is going to give me the performance and luxury I want at a good price-point and reasonable cost of ownership.

I wasn't going fast, so nobody was gunna get hurt, but using that emergency brake saved me a lot of headache and money.

Some idiots said that Ford was "risking controversy" by ditching the V6 for the 2.3L Ecoboost 4 cylinder. Ditching the unloved and with no aftermarket support 300 HP/270 TQ V6 for the 310 HP/320 TQ turbo 4 cylinder Ecoboost . Wasn't controversial at all. It was a no brainer that both the bean counters and the car guys at Ford could agree on. Now ALL Mustangs are NOW in fact "performance cars" whatever the trim level or engine option. Being that the Ecoboot has an MSRP of $26,400 within the budget of young carbuyer/enthusiasts and can be easily tuned up to 500 HP with a change of the turbocharger.

Good. detailed comparison. I disagree with you on the Mustang V-6 being "rental car grade"engine. I bought a 2016 Mustang V-6 Auto w/18" wheels. On Regular Unleaded, it specs as quick or maybe a shade quicker than the Ecoboost on regular gas. It reminds me of my '96 Mustang Cobra. The ride and handing is also smooth and satisfying. My only complaint is the steering wheel is off center. The dealer where I bought the car has tried to get it right twice and still the same. I'm getting a combined 22.5 - 24 MPG's.
I also just bought a 2017 Camaro 1LT 2.0 Turbo Auto. I have 2 ponies in the corral.. I'm getting a combined 25.5 - 28 MPG's. It feels more sporty in the curves and slightly stiffer (because of the 20" wheels perhaps). Both Camaro front seats are power, where only the drivers seat in the Mustang is power. They're both fun cars. Mine will only get 1000-2000 miles pear year for at least the next 5 years until my son turns 16. Anyway, I enjoyed your video and commentary. Thumbs up.
