I don’t it would have ruined the whole impact and pacing of his death I think, it was different for minato and the others, jiraiya simply put was too good to bring back character wise, the death had to sting no matter what

Listen y'all.. I'm 30, my son just turned 4, and I grew up watching Naruto. It's a masterpiece! After all these years, finally convinced my mother to watch Naruto. She's been flying through and is already in Shippuden. Well last week she came upon the Jiraiya vs Pain episode... I've never seen her take a break from a show before in my life but she had to stop Naruto. Jiraiya was one of her favorite characters and last time she came over I noticed her phone background is pervy sage 😭 she's devastated

15 years later and I still break down crying, idk what it is but there's just something about specifically Jiraiya that hurts more than any other death in fiction.....
Failed to save his best friend, didn't get the girl, failed to save his students life, failed to save another student who eventually came back to haunt him and even killed him.
Despite all this he always stayed positive, was incredibly strong and well respected and in the end, he was the one who trained 2 of the hidden leafs strongest Hokages!
His life was tragic and bittersweet, but equally impressive and legendary.

Jiraiya's death is by far the saddest moment in Naruto, and probably top 5 sadest moments in all animes, I remembrer watching it and crying like a baby.
Tsunade and narutos reactions are one of the saddest moments in the anime, to see Naruto who is normally so happy just be depressed, and to see Tsunade who usually keeps her emotions under control just break down is just so sad
