Obito could never mourn Rin’s death. He never wanted to see it as real. So rather than live in the real world and accept what happened, he decided to create one giant illusion.

beautiful edit. Obito's words are genuine and his pain is understandable but I still always find it weird Obito once tried to destroy Konoha, like I understand the plan he had but why not just taking Kurama for your project and that's it, my problem with his character that at some point he enjoyed evil deeds like smiling when Sasuke stabbed Karin or when he was about to kill Kushina with the nine tails...just not making any sense
Ikr some of it makes no sense but I’ve always understood where obito was coming from with his words.
The abyss will animate anyone if they are in there long enough.

Yeah he didn't go so far just for a crush. Obito isn't doing it to get rin back, but rather he is doing it because he hates the world for putting his friends and himself in a situation where an innocent kid has to commit suicide. Rin represented hope and light in his dark world, his life already sucked even before she was there. She made his life just a little better because she was always there for him and cheering him on when everyone else looked down upon him. Once he lost that light he fell into a deep darkness and resented the world, cursing it. One could say that since he doesn't want to accept this reality as this reality is too cruel, so he is creating a new one to regain his lost light and love for the world. But he wouldn't have come to such a conclusion about the world if madara didn't shove an ideology inside his head as an impressionable kid.

@@billychops1280aside from the whole stupid "infinite tsukuyomi was a lie" plot twist, it was a good plan, because you cant really tell you're in a dream world. And its infinite. I mean you cant know for sure that "reality" isnt also an illusion of some sort

I always wondered, how come obito never used Gedo art of Rinne Rebirth to revive Rin? As long as you have that jutsu and edo tensei death shouldn't really have any consequence.
I think because Obito knows that if he revives Rin when she will know about the things Obito did she will hate him. But in a genjutsu world everything will be just as obito told to Kakashi a world where Rin is alive, with the ideal version of Obito being alive too and all that with Kakashi not going through the pain he suffered at Obito's as well as Rin's grave.
@@CAPT-vw2ud That makes sense, it just contradicts the entire point of him doing everything he did. Like as soon as he learned Rinne Art of Rebirth, before he did anything else, why wasn't his first response to ressurect Rin? Then he wouldn't need to do all the horrible stuff that would make Rin hate him. But I do acknowledge he was traumatized and that affected his judgment. Plus he's the villain so he's supposed to be wrong, I'm just saying I think using Rinne Art of Rebirth makes more sense than forcing the world into an eternal dream.
@@skepticskeleton1064 Because Obito knows that a similar traumatizing event will happen again after Rin gets resurrected. To himself he's not taking any chances to what life throws on him and goes with 100% guaranteed genjutsu perfect world.
